      How to setup your studio. I like the lighting setup, bluish and warm at side but clear light at your face

    • @GlenReed
      @GlenReed  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks man! I use a lot of lights to make this happen 🙃. Really lighting is just as important if not more important than the camera. If you can get the image exposed properly everything else will look good.

    When u change to CINE-D , cant you see the noise it brings in. Use Natural in the Day, and Cine V at night , or low light. Cine V produces the lowest noise than any other profile

    • @GlenReed
      @GlenReed  Před 3 lety +8

      Thanks for the tips! I would still use Cine-D in the day since noise is not an issue to get the most dynamic range. As for low light normally I try not to go above 1600 ISO and use faster glass if possible. But next time I’m in a low light situation with it I will give Cine-V a try 😉. Thanks for watching!

    I'd say probably once I can I'll get the g9 and maybe pair it up with the gh5s. The g9 is the perfect photography camera but the video is also insane and the gh5s is a perfect video camera that's great in low light even if you'd like to take photos with it. Seems like a great match. I'd go with the g9 first though because it's not as expensive and I'm not to crazy on video.

    • @GlenReed
      @GlenReed  Před 3 lety

    Excellent video - straight to the point and very well explained.
    I'm looking at doing a podcast with 3 cameras and looking at this, but I'm a newbie.
    The cameras will be static, budget is very limited as I'm just starting out.
    Would I be better using the 30 fps for this discussion podcast? Also lens you recommend that'll just "do the job on the cheap"?
    Any advice greatly appreciated. Or what would you recommend for camera and lens for what I want to do? Cheapest possible but I don't want them to overhead, I'll always have them plugged in so I haven't got to worry about battery life and record all three in a atem mini pro iso. It's just for youtube and a labour of love.

      Personally I would go with three BlackMagic Pocket 4k’s, especially since you are using the Atem ISO. For glass the Sigma 18-35mm is hard to beat.

      Thanks! I've changed my studio up a few times lol. Unfortunately I don't have any lighting videos at the moment. However, there are two options to keep your monitors and bulbs from over exposing, either lower the brightness of the monitor and bulbs or add more light to the room to balance the exposure between you and the monitors/bulbs. I’m trying to video record on my LUMIX G7 and I’m running the HDMI from my camera to the tv. Once I hit the record button on the camera, it instantly stop showing on the tv screen. How do I keep the recording showing on the tv while it’s recording?

    • @GlenReed
      @GlenReed  Před 3 lety

      Unfortunately there is no work around for this. The G7 cuts the feed to the HDMI port when recording, its a limitation of the camera. You would either need something like the Panasonic G85 or an external recorder to record and also HDMI out to the TV. Sorry for the bad news but I hope this helps answer your questions. Glen thank you for showing how to unlock the record time limit on the Panasonic G7. I shall try this with the Panasonic S5 when I eventually purchase it and when it's in the 4K 10 bit mode hopefully it will work.

    • @GlenReed
      @GlenReed  Před 3 lety +1

      The S5 is an awesome camera! I don’t remember off hand how I found the record limit unlock since it’s been a few years now, I think I may have found some leaked info on a website somewhere (I’m totally not smart enough to figure it out on my own 😊). It will likely not work with the S5 since they are totally different cameras, but it’s worth the try. Thanks for watching!

      I’m actually considering doing a editing/color grading video for the G7 and G85. Thanks for letting me know this is of interest to you. I personally use mainly Davinci Resolve Studio but I also use Final Cut Pro, in my opinion these are fantastic editing platforms. Davinci is a little more complex, but they do offer a free version and a free training course that covers everything the software has to offer. Final Cut is a bit simpler but is also a bit limited in comparison. Thanks for watching!

    Hey Glen great video man, I have a couple of questions. One is how do you choose 100 iso with Lumix g7, I read in the manual that you have the option of extending iso, but that option my camera is grey so I can't choose it. there is something you need to do get that which I don't know now. My other question when you upload your footage to Davinci in what color science do you use in color managment for Lumix G7 when shooting in Cinelike D? There is only a Panasonic V Gamut/V-log there or choosing rec709 is better?

    • @GlenReed
      @GlenReed  Před 2 lety

      Thanks!
      I believe the extended iso feature is only available in photo mode. But I don’t really use the extended features as it’s artificial and can cause other problems. Really it’s only good for lowering exposure when you don’t have and filter handy in my opinion.
      As for Davinci Reaolve, just the default of Rec.709 is all you need. V Gamut/V-log are for cameras that use a log profile to increase dynamic range which the G7 does not. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
