      I absolutely love these cameras!

@ yeah for video it's awesome! Right now I just have the 20mm 1.7 with a variable nd. I'm looking to get a gimbal because there is zero stabilising but idk how I can keep using MF.

    •  Před 3 lety +4

      That's awesome!
For the longest time I only had the G7 with the 20mm F1.7 with a gimbal.
And I was able to get great shots.
When using a gimbal I usually use manual focus and try to maintain the same distance from the subject to make sure I nail focus!

Just picked up a G7 w/ kit lens for $240 and it’s fantastic. With the dawn of the hyper mirrorless cameras like the G7, GX7, EOS M series (barring the M6 mk2), Sony NEX cameras have all dropped in price dramatically because people are constantly looking for better when in reality they have a great camera but never used them to their full potential.

My favorite set up so far is
    12-35 f2.8
    25 f1.7
    35-100 f2.8
But the one I have used the most that is versatile is the 12-35 f 2.8. It has saved me from constantly changing lenses and missing shots.

    •  Před 3 lety +3

You have a great set up Gabriel!
      Very versatile for sure!
Yeah for the longest time I wanted to buy myself a 12-35 f2.8 but I didn't bought it yet!
      Thanks very much for watching!

Fantastic video. I am basically a new Lumix user. I saw the picture quality of the GH4 and was totally blown away, but my main quirk with GH cams was the small m43 and the lowlight problem that it could present. However, I took a chance and purchased a used GH5 from a friend, and now I have to confess that I'm a Lumix GH fanboy. This increased when I purchased the infamous Sigma 18-35 EF mount lens. Even with just a regular adaptor, I am getting stunning photos and pics from this camera, and surprisingly I was forced to buy a 1-6 ND filter based on the amount of light coming into the sensor. My first job was an outdoor movie feature/runway model presentation, and I must admit I was really then, there weren't any bright lights, just coloured, but when I turned on "The Beast" I was like 😱😳. Now I think I might looking into 7.5 & the 42.5 lens. I really prefer larger lenses based on the robust and pro look that they give to my rig, but let see what happens. Agai, fantastic video, and keep up the good work.

  • @CanditoTrainingHQ
    @CanditoTrainingHQ Před 3 lety +9

I have a G7 too, and the lens I am loving now is the Yongnuo 50mm f1.4 full frame, adapted to M43 (electronic adapter). The sharpness looks great without a speedbooster, which was a pleasant surprise, and becomes a sick 100mm portrait lens. Autofocus is horrible though, but it's still salvable. Definitely worth experimenting with.
Lumix 25mm F1.7 is the main work horse still to hold it down.

    •  Před 3 lety +1

Autofocus with a lens that is not native Lumix/panasonic is not going to work well ever. If you are using native lenses, make sure the setting switch is set to AFC and then Continuous Af IS SET TO ON, eye sensor AF on

Thank you for making this. I like your attitude. For video, I could understand the preference for primes with faster apertures. I shoot primarily stills. For live action documentary situations in terms of ultra-wide, the flexibility of the Lumix 8-18mm opens realms. There is nothing like wading into the middle of a crowd and being able to frame or open up in a second to cover the action. And another plus for the Lumix 42.5 over the Oly 45mm is its near macro capabilities. Cheers.

Awesome lenses. I am glad I found your channel. I own 3 lenses atm, 14mm f1.7, the kit 14-42 lens and a 42-200 zoom. I got these before I understood the value of low f. lenses. I was thinking of getting a fish eye adapter, but by the sounds of this the video would look poor. I mainly shoot outdoor videos.

Indeed, these are great lenses for sure and I use them all the time.
I don't really like that fisheye effect, but sometimes you can get rid of that distortion in post and get a much cheaper lens...
It really depends on your budget!

Hey Vitor it's me again - sorry if it seems like I'm trolling your videos but I'm learning so much from you! One of my challenges is that I have 2 of my cameras on automatic sliders (I don't have anyone to man a gimbal) so with the kit lens I usually keep the aperture at around 10 to minimize focus issues. Do you think the 2 Lumix lenses you suggested would still give me benefit? Or do you have techniques you use to allow that 1.7 aperture without requiring more focus changes on a camera that's in motion?

    •  Před 3 lety

Hey! No worries... I'm here to help whenever I can, so be sure to reach out whenever you need to!
If you're using only the kit lens, I think that you will see drastic changes on your image quality if you try those 2 Lumix lenses that I talked about.
If you are using 2 automatic sliders you can also set up the lens to f1.7 as long as you don't move back and forth too much...
      Thanks for watching 🙂

The 14-42 kit lens is not ideal for video, but the most important thing is to get started using your camera with the gear that you already have and then decide what lens may be the best for your style!

    •  Před 3 lety

If you get the laowa 7.5mm f2 with Micro four thirds mount - M43 (like mine), you will not need any adapters!
Thanks very much for watching 🙂

  • @Roboballs42
    @Roboballs42 Před rokem

I have a Lumix G7 body and Viltrox EF-M1 SpeedBooster, I cannot decide what to get between the Laowa 7.5, canon EF-s 10-22 or the Canon EF 16-32. I want to film the widest shot possible but maintain good image quality. Is the Laowa Wider than the canon lenses? Is there any benefit to using the Speedbooster over the MFT Lens?

    •  Před rokem +1

I love using my viltrox EF-M2 speedbooster with my Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 EF mount lens. A speedbooster will make the lens faster and wider. Typically if you were to use a 18-35mm lens on a micro four thirds camera (like the Lumix G7) you would get a 36-70mm full frame equivalent focal length. But by using a speedbooster, this particular 18-35mm lens turns into a 25-50mm f1.2 which is faster than f1.8 and wider than 36-70mm that you would get if you were to use a ordinary adapter instead of a speedbooster with the Lumix G7 or any other micro four thirds camera.
But using a speedbooster also comes with some downsides, like taking away some of the sharpness from the lens and also making it harder for the camera to focus if you use autofocus and also makes your camera setup heavier.
That being said, between the 3 lenses you mentioned, the Laowa 7.5mm f2 and the canon 10-22 are the widest!
The Laowa will give you 15mm full frame equivalent focal length.
The canon 10-22mm (if I'm not mistaken) I think it will give you around 15-30mm full frame equivalent focal length if you use it with a speedbooster. Not sure though... I'm not very good at this speedbooster math 🤣
Also take in mind that the g7 has a little crop when you film in 4K. But it's a very small crop, so don't worry too much about it. Using a lens like the Laowa 7.5mm and filming in 4K with the Lumix G7, even though it has a crop, is still ultrawide and works amazing for things like real estate interiors.
For me, I own the Laowa 7.5mm f2 and I totally recommend it.
I never tried the canon lenses you mentioned, so can't say good or bad about them.
Hope this helps you making a decision.

Hey. I have my new G7 trying to upgrade with new lenses. I have a "good" Pentax K mount lens. I also bought an adapter with a manual aperture ring for "no aperture ring" Pentax lenses (the today's ones), but it seems that putting the max aperture in the ring doesn't "open" the aperture to the max as I can see doing it mounted on my Pentax cam (seems the internal edge that is pushed has to move aprox.1mm more). I don't know if it's fault of the adapter and if i should "hack it" adhering 1mm "piece of something" in the lever of the adapter to solve it. Did you have any experience with such adapters?

    •  Před 3 lety +1

Hey Luis! Thanks very much for watching 🙂

Hello there, with these three lenses will it crush a full wedding with filming and photography?

    •  Před 2 lety

      Yes they will!
Check out 2 video weddings that I made using only these 3 lenses + the Panasonic G7 & GH5:

Even though I did film these 2 weddings with only the 3 lenses from this CZcams video, I do recommend to get the sigma EF mount 18-35mm f1.8 + Viltrox EF-M2 speedbooster.
