I will never pay for a ticket of an universe that fired Henry Cavill but kept Ezra Miller and Amber Heard.
Most people won't. Then the showrunners will just call everyone racist and bigots when their shows/films inevitably fail because that's their go-to card which they somehow haven't figured out yet that it doesn't work.
maybe its better that henry isnt associated with ezra and amber...maybe its for the best. let DC crash and burn
What they did to Cavill was unprofessional & out right stupid, you have an actor the Social Media generation sees as a super star & fire him instead of admitting that the old leaders were at fault, DC is done man. No one wants another Superman Prequel they could have just had Cavill as the oldest hero after all superman is the first DC hero.
Also who ask for an Amanda Wilder show, Super Girl in a dark film, Amazon movie, already woke it's done. Also the Aquaman actor is older than Cavill man DC is done.
Henry Cavill firing just confirmed they don't know what they are doing & think they can force the public to be behind them.
As someone who grew up in the 90s it's just shocking to see these companies commit to their destruction
@@bewmdogg I'm so tired of companies thinking they can get my business by calling me names.
They didn't 'keep'. Those films were already finished. They're being diplomatic, because Hollywood is ALWAYS diplomatic, it's always 'Creative Differences' or other euphemisms, for "I HATED that guy, never going to work with him ever again." Remember what Helmsworth said about working with Waititi? 'Mad Genius' and 'Like a Seven Year Old' but made it sound positive, despite never going to be working with that looney toon ever again? There's a good chance that neither of those two will ever work for WBD ever again, but they can't throw them under the bus because the Agency (Which has legions of actors under) might take offence and keep talent from working for WBD, or make it too expensive to hire one of their actors. It's all BS and doublespeak.
the fact they are even thinking Ezra Miller deserves to continue making movies says all I need to know about DC.
Ezra and Gunn are both pedos so, it makes perfect sense why he wants to keep his pedo buddy on board. You know what they say, birds of a feather. 🤷♂️
Why is Ezra miller so protected and Henry cavill isnt?
Ezra is playing the 'gender fluid' card and so is protected while Henry is a 'straight white male' & therefore similar to the Antichrist.
im pretty confident hes going to get fired, they just dont want to torpedo the movie
I doubt it after flash movie comes out he will be fired it all depends on Superman legacy if the movie sucks or underperforms then I wouldn't be surprise if they fire Gunn and start all over again! Gunn DC slate absolutely sucks in my opinion so he better hope Superman legacy works out or it's game over!!!!!
Reminds me of a scene from Jurassic Park 2...
John Hammond: "Don't worry, I'm not making the same mistakes again."
Ian Malcolm: "No, you're making all new ones."
Sums this up nicely. :)
As long as Ezra and Amber are part of the project, I couldn't care less about the end result.

Zack Snyder made a darker Superman that's nothing Superman actually stands for. Gunn and Safran said they want the Superman that stands for truth, justice, and the American way which wasn't Henry Cavill's Superman.

I just find it so funny that Gunn, who has said multiple times over the years that he doesn’t want to do Superman, is now suddenly so excited to be doing Superman.

Looks like a 4th reboot is on the way in a couple of years
When DCU rebooted their own universe more than Marvel’s Spiderman
I don't think CBMs would be even that huge by that point. Videogame adaptations are taking over.
There have been 2 Flashpoints in dcamu.
I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to comic book movies, but I gotta say when the 2nd announcement in this huge reshifting of the DC universe is to announce a show around Waller, I had to laugh. I'm willing to bet if you polled 1000 regular people on whether they'd like to see a show centered around her character, only 5 would say yes.
Then ask if they want to see that critical race theory moron in anything at all…
It took sometime for me realise that a lot of these projects are based of artist availability and preference.
Say whatever you want about MCU but they didn't start doing something like that until endgame happened. Before that they were willing to switch actors which they did for Hulk and Warmachine instead of compromising the storytelling.
The problem is that they see Waller as the DCEU analog of Marvel's Nick Fury. In their mind Marvel fans would definitely watch a show dedicated to Nick Fury, so that stands to reason the DCEU fans should want to watch a show centered on the DCEU analog (what they think is the DCEU analog anyway).
@@7opher619 honestly that logic isn’t totally flawed; I _was_ a marvel fan and I adored nick fury, so I totally would have watched had that show not been awful. It destroyed his character, it destroyed the universe even further, and it was a huge slap in the face to fans. Had there been a spy thriller centering nick fury around a decade ago, however, it would’ve killed. Which is the sticking point. Fury was a beloved character by that point already, Waller isn’t. That’s why it’s a problem. Like Gary said, viola Davis as Waller is really good casting, but if she’s ever going to reach the levels of fan adoration as fury did, it’ll have to take some time. Warner has to let her build some mystique like marvel did for fury back in the day. I don’t want a show giving me all the backstory that made a cool character cool before I’ve even seen this character being cool.
@@DannyDevitoOffical-TrustMeBro I think you should spend more time thinking before you write a response. My logic is perfectly fine. You are positing that a show for Waller is premature because she hasn't had the time to marinate like Fury has. That would be the same thing as saying they are not the same. They (Warner) think Waller is already the DCEU equivalent to Nick Fury. She isn't. She hasn't had the screen time or impact Fury has had, as you said. Which is what I said in fewer words.
James Gunn's announcement video came across like a teacher handing out a syllabus to his students.
A pretty boring one.
"My favourite story". "My favourite Robin". "I really like Tom King's take on Supergirl". "My Passion Project".
And best of all, James Gunn just admitted he finished writing seven episodes of Creature Commandoes before he's finished a Superman script. Mate, even if you do it that way, why the hell would you announce it like that... It just looks bad.
Yeah a woke curriculum.
And the students always know that 33% of it will never happen and another 33% of it shouldn't happen.
I was actually reminded of the Jeff Kaplan Overwatch updates.
If they had just given Henry Cavill ONE more movie, where he could play the hopeful Superman that Henry/us always wanted, there would be INFINITELY less pushback/complaints.
Or kept it consistent by getting rid of all the Synderverse actors. Instead, it's this weird mesh where it just looks like James Gunn doing whatever he wants.
That's why they lost me. I won't spend a dime on their stuff anymore.
I'll bootleg and all that maybe if I'm curious.
But they let go of a ready and willing Henry Cavill who respects the fans AND IS A GREAT SUPERMAN
Henry was the perfect actors to play Superman and they just disregard him and the people who love him.
Yeah, right. It's always going to be "only if they did this..." WB poured $80m into the Snyder Cut without getting any return and the fans responded by becoming more toxic. I wouldn't trust them, either.
@@dragonknightleader1 That's exactly what it is... just like it would be with anyone put in charge.

No matter how good a director or visionary is... It only takes one studio intervention....
I like to think that the cancellations and everything, the money that Disney is pissing away, the heat from the Internet... is MAYBE enough to suggest to these people, like James Gunn said, you release a movie with crap writing, doesn't matter how much you spunk into effects and force out that turd to hit your date, people don't want that crap.

Hollywood doesn't deserve Herry Cavill
I've been done with DC for a while, Cavill being fired was the final straw. Thats a bridge they burned with me, I am now planting dynamite to prevent that bridge from ever being rebuilt.
Has anyone else noticed how often showrunner use other TV shows or characters to describe their own? It's like True detective. It's like Game of Thrones. And the Rings of Power showrunners do it all the time. We also have the MCU doing it when describing their characters. It smacks of a total lack of imagination if you can't create something that is either totally unique OR based on the source material.
But that's all the Hollywood "suits" understand. It's how creatives get ideas sold in pitch meetings: compare your concept to a proven success/moneymaker the "suits" have heard of. Roddenberry pitched Star Trek as "Wagon Train to the stars." Miami Vice was pitched as "MTV cops."
Yes, they sound like they don't know what they are talking about, or like they have no creativity, instead of saying "it's a sci-fi thriller" "i'll be a fantasy court drama" this way It would sound invested and creative.
Nah, I disagree. I think it's just a useful, short hand way of conveying quickly to viewers what flavor the show will have. You wouldn't say tge same about chef's and they use the same method all the time.
There's plenty of valid reason to rag on Hollywood, but that isn't one of them (although you are correct about current writers having no imagination).
There's no such thing as totally unique, man. Green lantern ripped off lensmen novels. Batman ripped of Shadow and Superman is combination of multiple older Characters. His fortress of solitude was stolen from Doc savage who's known as "man of bronze" whose first name is also Clark. He even had a blonde female cousin with similar characteristics.
Using an older show or established as template isn't wrong. It makes things easier to sell to people and understand. It's just to get a point across. People have been doing it for decades.
It paints a picture of in your head.
I wasn't a huge fan of Snyder-verse but a reboot is completely unappealing. I think they could have salvaged a lot of elements from Snyder's movies while accomplishing the same thing they are attempting here. What they did salvage is nothing exciting for me. Endgame was a good exit point for the MCU. I'm not reinvesting into a reboot universe, so this is also a good exit point.
After what they did to Cavill and the fact Gunn's keeping all his own shit and its not a full reboot, this universe is dead before arrival as far as I'm concerned.

The one that really gets me is the announcement of "The Brave and the Bold." We can't get a Batman film with Dick Grayson as Robin? I understand that we don't need another Batman in his second year. Thing is, you need to establish these characters. There's no way we should be introduced to Damian Wayne without seeing Dick, Jason, Tim, Stephanie, Barbara, Cassandra, Kate, and Bette first. Especially when Tim and Damian have been at each other's throats for years. I agree with Gary. Just focus on one film at a time. Make a Superman film, then a sequel to that. Next, do Batman, followed by a sequel to that film. Then make a "World's Finest" film, and go from there. Ultimately, this stems from one key issue. DC is ashamed of embracing everything that makes them who they are.
Well, they don't have to make EVERYTHING in the same time period. They can jump around and do things as they want it, and not be limited to some things like Marvel is.
I love the way you used the JL animated intro theme in the background.

I posted this on the DC Universe video of James Gunn: Chapter 1 - Gods and Monsters | DC Studios | DC
Well, Besides the Authority looking good, I believe James Gunn has missed the mark on a few things. Going with a younger Superman after we had 10 seasons of Smallville... is not a good choice.
We already know the beginnings of Superman. Now was the perfect moment to get Superman (played by the Perfect actor, Henry Cavill) to get into new cosmic fights, fighting Evil/enemies on his scale of power or even outwitting stronger adversaries like Darkseid, etc... This could have been next the level of DC. compared to Marvel massive battles. But instead we are getting the cheap younger Woke version" of an unexperienced Superkid... What a major disappointment.
A Younger Superman version would fit with those teenager low budget tvshows disney drops every now and then... Its sad We won't see Superman in a Cosmic scale...
The different take to Supergirl, might be a good change on the story, her story and how she could evolve and work well in the DC Universe.
Just wait until they reveal it’s viola Davis… 😂😂
No offence to comic nerds, but this sounds like a 10 year plan made by a comic nerd for comic nerds. The beauty of the MCU was that it started with self-contained stories grounded in reality and with likeable characters. Then as they went on it expanded and the range got wider and wider. People only got in to Guardians of the Galaxy because it was part of an established MCU. Introducing weird c-list comic squads is only going to appeal to hardcore comic nerds or hardcore DC/superhero stans. Normies couldn't care less about obscure stuff like this.
All you have to do is make a good movie and then build on that. It doesn't need to be woke, dark, multi layered or thinking about what comes next. Just make 1 single good movie that all we want.

As always on the mark and on the money. Great video once again, Nerdrotic.
You know the sad thing is if they are going to tell a story about a Super Girl who survived on a dying chunk of Krypton, that could have fit really well with Henry Cavil's Superman and could have even finally given a good reason why Zod was so uncompromising and went for trying to terraform Earth into New Kyrpton if he was running against a time clock, where he needed a new home for the survivors before everybody died. This could have then set up an interesting movie where Super Girl starts off trying to destroy Superman, blaming him for stopping Zod and her friends and family dying, since Zod never came back to rescue them with the new home he promised.
As critical as I am of Snyder, he actually had that planned with easter eggs in Man of Steel
As good as that plot setup sounds, we know that Snyder doesn't do heroes fighting each other stories well.
We'd get a "Save Martha" ('Save Jor-El....' 'Why did you say my uncle's name???') moment between the two, and then they'd have a random fight with Brainiac for the last ten minutes of the movie.

They don’t care about that. They want cheap young actors, dc will never do what marvel did. They know that their ceiling it’s quite mediocre, so they will go low budgets and low pay actors and make profit instead of shooting for the moon, they missed their window and they know it.
He served the Emperor of Mankind now… might have to wait until Chaos is conquered.
@@Stickykobe420 sad to say but I think you're 100% correct. They're going to hire a bunch of low skilled unknown actors to play the roles of their life time, & if they fail, WB is dead.
I don't want to see anything with Ezra Miller in it... Forget about it. Me personally, am out.
What are the chances Superman: Legacy is about Lois and Clark’s son?
I also can’t help but notice that the art used for The Brave and the Bold features Dick Grayson as Batman. 🤔
They could go for the story where batman goes missing and Dick Grayson becomes batman temporarily and finds real Bruce with Damian.
What Warner Bros. Is doing to DC can be described perfectly by a quote from Henry Cavill’s Superman. “You won’t let me live, but you won’t let me die either.” (I probably butchered that quote, I’ll come back to edit it when I find the exact wording, but YGWIM)
Aside from the "but", I think u're on point.
Gary, you've said it before and you were right then. Warner are a reactionary company who go whichever way the wind blows and change course on a whim. All the way back to the Keaton Batman's and even arguably the Reeve Superman's. This 'Gunn universe' is going to be the same. A film or two in, a failure or three under their belt, and I guarantee it'll all come crashing down. Warner have so many great characters and absolutely no idea what to do with any of them.
I think that part of their problem is the insistence on making everything connected. It is very limiting. Just make good movies about your great characters. If they happen to link up, fine. If they don't, who cares, as long as they are good movies.
@@christianellegaard7120 Everything Everywhere All at Once... They are just name-dumping instead of working on any cohesive common story. Hollywood today is just a bunch of ADHD pre-adolescents who wouldn't know a good story if it groomed them.
@@christianellegaard7120 exactly. Marvel actually did this really well before the first Avengers movie. They were feeding us little snippets at the end of the film that started creating ties between characters and ultimately to Avengers.
@@Crimea_River Yes, Marvel did it very well. But who said that the only way to succeed is to copy your rival?
Marvel has always been good at ensembles. Like the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and the Guardians. And that has translated well into their movies.
DC's strength, on the other hand, has always been their strong, individual, characters. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, in particular. Their ensemble, Justice League, has always been more of an afterthought. So they should recognise that and go with it, instead of trying to copy Marvel.
Not just Warner but DC themselves for the longest time have been reactionary to a lot of stuff Marvel does, to the point the comic book community feels like DC wants to "be" Marvel and copy their success, despite DC having their own strengths. So you have two reactionary companies really, both desperately wanting to parrot Marvel's success...they really need to get out of their own way if they are ever going to succeed. They could totally do a stellar justice league movie, but they need to start treating their heroes as stand-alone rather than jumping to mashing them all together onto a team. The first Wonder Woman movie succeeded because it was a stand-alone piece. Confidence and faith in their own characters need to happen or we're just going to be repeating the same failures all over again.
I hope that we all can agree on that these companies need to go bankrupt. We don't need them "fixed".
I agree completely with you, Gary. As much as I loved Guardians, I look at this production schedule with some trepidation. I know he's going for an 8-10 year plan with this, and good luck lasting that long in an often fickle industry that can cause a lot of burnout, but the thing that strikes me is that the diversity of concepts is like trying to raise a circus tent with only half the guy wires and (as the figurative and literal terms both apply here) none of the central tent poles. Is Gunn & Co. expecting to just have the preexisting Big Three films as their nod to those characters, effectively saying "We've already got plenty of stuff about them. It's time we focus on people you've never heard of and don't care about."? If so, this bodes ill.
Creature Commandos looks interesting, and I would LOVE any kind of really good (non-CW) Green Lantern story, finally. But Waller? Sam Jackson's a much better known star AND plays an awesome character, but they never rushed out a show/movie called Fury (though now I wish they had, pre-Endgame when they still had some grasp of how to make stuff that wasn't awful). I don't care about Waller, and while I think Viola Davis is a capable adult pretender she seems to be a moderately despicable person, which means I've less than zero reason to watch the show. Frankly, I'd be much more interested in a Morgan Freeman led vehicle about the life of Easy Reader, for those people my age (i.e. old) who remember that character from The Electric Company.
I just love Gary 😂 his humor and sarcasm 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭

Miller and Herd....nope.
"Why not just wait and see?"
Because we did that for almost a decade and have been proven right to doubt more times than not
The big "Huh?" thing for me is the 'Brave and the Bold' decision. There's a LOT of ground to cover as backstory. Wayne starting out as Batman, getting into conflict with Ras A'Gul, then having a fling with Talia and then time for Damien to become a teenager. That would make this Batman at least 35-40, far older than the 25ish Superman they were talking about.
I guess they're confident that their target audience is up to speed on all that or have seen some of the past movies like Batman Begins, Under The Red Hood, Son Of Batman, that kind of stuff
My biggest gripe with the idea, and I will never stop saying this:
No Dick Grayson, no Jason Todd, no Tim Drake. The Bat-Family is incomplete. I'm not saying you cannot do things differently, I'm saying at least ONE of the Robins needs to be in the mix before we get a Damien Wayne. And remember, people even blasted Snyder for reducing Jason Todd to a costume. Not even a flashback scene.
Again, this is WB. Expect this whole thing to be cancelled after one movie. OR maybe it all works out. But for now, this doesn't look like a great plan.
Superman is a kryptonian that ages slower. It would make perfect sense for him to look 25 when Batman is 40. Look at Dark Knight returns
@@youtubesucks1821 He doesn't look 25. He is 25.

Heh, so much for "Legacy." Now it's just Superman.
Seems like a great move, fire Henry Cavill who everybody absolutely loved and wants as Superman but keep Amber Hurd, the abusive, lying psycho who crapped in Johnny's bed and Ezra Miller, the kidnapping, groomer scumbag and announce a bunch of projects made up of random C-list comic book characters nobody really cares about, and just from a few of those announced projects I'll bet you anything they go woke too
I suspect Gunn's superman script, will just be a repurposed brightburn 2 script. And since Henry wanted a positive superman story, they did not hire him.
He said it is supposed to have a good a positive Superman in a cynical world that sees his traditional values and principles as outdated. Or something like that.
So even though they might entertain a 2nd act where he begins to question himself and his beliefs. Ultimately by act 3 the traditional Superman will prevail and begin to bring hope back to the world.
But I could be way off too. I guess we'll see what happens
Superman needs a positive movie.
Henry Cavill needs to stay Superman
I bet that the Superman soundtrack is filled with nostalgic tunes from the late 20th century. Yay!
@@arthurmyself7183 I agree completely. We have not had a positive superman story for 16 years now. Most potential viewers of the new movie, was not born, last time they had a positive story. They will only have the boyz to compare it too.
The problem wasnt letting Cavill go, the problem was this not being a full reboot.
They are doing everything but the obvious. Establish their JL characters one by one and play them straight no deconstuction, no absurd changes to their core just well made cliche movies with those characters.
@@Raximus3000 they shouldve go Wonder Woman instead of Supergirl. I don´t know man, can´t see it, at least we have The Batman and The Penguin.

No, booting Henry Cavill is a PROBLEM.
It's both. We could have moved forward if it was a total reboot. But it not being so is a slap in the face
Great video man.
No Henry Cavill= FUCK DC. Seriously Man of Steel is my favorite superman. I really don't even like DC that much. However, aside from Watchmen, Henry Cavill as The Man of Steel made me Love Superman. That was such a great story. For them to screw up H.C. as superman is unforgivable
That description of Superman fits PERFECTLY for the Superman that Cavill was portraying at the end of ZSJL. It also fits for Tyler Hoechlin's version of the Superman & Lois TV show. I like Cavill better but both are great. And also the Batman/Damian Wayne robin fits perfectly for Batfleck, given his age and the story of that version of Batman.
Hence, getting rid of Cavill is dumb decision. They can have him marry Lois and at the end of the movie having Jon as the baby. The next movie Jon can meet Damian like in the books.
cavil worst superman in live action who had no character or actual personalities
@@godinacape just cuz Cavil was a great actor doesn't mean the studio wrote a good Superman or Lois
@@herloss448 Cavil? You mean you right?
I’d have to agree, DC/WB made a huge mistake with Cavil. It’s not something they’ve probably taking lying down either with the fandom. Considering the big reveal in Black Adam it makes no sense whatsoever. But the “contemporary” issue that was mentioned, really needs a good answer. Gunn’s DCU gives me a bad feeling.
All they had to do was adapt the DC Animated Universe from the 90s for an easy pathway to success. I'm still baffled that no one at WB or DC has figured this out yet.
Being outside the bubble gives you much better perspective
Let's see how this plays out..
This is a CLASSIC problem of people who are skilled at something, such as James Gunn is good as Directing, and putting them in charge at a CEO level. Classic Western approach to Management (not Leadership). I work in Tech where exceptional Enginners get put into Management positions but ...THEY SUCK AT LEADERSHIP. They think they can attend a few seminars from Wharton and they can lead. Nope, you can learn to manage, but Leadership is like singing, you are born with that talent. Sure you can go to singing lessons but your not a born singer. This is the issue with James Gunn, who is a Top Notch Director but a poor leader. It looks like his ego is making checks that DC audiences (who really pays the bills) won't cash.
Your editing is top notch, well done!

I think considering the current state and future plans of MCU. It's time DCEU steps up to the plate and becomes the best at comic book movies. They'll need great directors who love the source material. And writers who are passionate about comics. There's a lot of potential. They could start over DCEU and make it good this time
im so sick of jaded or deconstructed or disenchanted heroes. I like that premise of a superman movie where he is kind in a world where kindness is considered lame bc i WANT heroes doing heroic things, not deconstructed antiheroes who get dragged into doing good things, but ones who seek out doing good
Technically, Ang Lee’s Hulk is an example of deconstructed heroes back in 2003.
Warner Bros will eventually realize that they made a huge blunder by letting Cavill go because he is not just a great actor to play Superman but he is born to play the role of Superman.
wait for tom holland ...
They won't. Cope harder.
i love how he said he was going to show a definitive Batman showing a cover where Dick Grayson was Batman.
Mind blowing to let go of Caville but keep Miller...

“Wait and see” is definitely something invented by an executive of the entertainment industry. An industry that ask for payment upfront and offers no refunds. Yeah I think I’m going to see who’s involved and speculate the quality before a shell out money.
If they are doing Elseworlds then why did they fire Cavil?
I’ll never forgive James Gunn for Firing Henry, Ben & Gal. The guy clearly has issues with himself he doesn’t deserve to be a movie maker he deserves to be broke and homeless.
I’ve made my own DC universe, a DC universe without any comic inaccuracies(Except there are only minor inaccuracies like Power Girl’s weaknesses), no forced poorly timed humour, A ton of blood and gore, absolute seriousness, filled with a lot of heart & emotion, complete respect to the source materials, a whole lot of references from comics and past animated shows and I have DC characters you may have never seen or heard of before such as Tomcat, The Signal, Looker, Titano the Super-ape, Mar’i Grayson aka Nightstar, Black Bat, Cir-El(Supergirl), etc. In my DC universe I’m a shapeshifting Anti-hero called “Ethan The Shapeshifter” I can turn into animals, dinosaurs, aliens & even mythical creatures, I have a somewhat sibling relationship with Starfire(Koriand’r), My DC universe is more comically accurate than James Gunn’s upcoming sitcom.
When a favorite you tube , film critic creator, who critiques movies is bigger than all the movies and where they're made.
"Why not wait and see?" Because distrust but verify. No more goodwill for you Hollywood.
Yeah a lot of people in this common section are on that why not wait to see it Waze it’s like they’re completely brainwashed by the don’t judge a book by its cover type energy when we’ve had multiple years of bad superhero bullshit already
Why can't a Henry cavil superman movie be an Elseworld story? His firing makes zero sense at all
I liked because of your impassioned speech at the end. I firmly stand by “hope for the best, plan for the worst”.
Although I have initially liked a lot of films (in general, not just ones based on comics), there are only a few films I rewatch because people seem too interested on the box office rating as opposed to any sort of legacy.

And like other universes, once you start missing dates and canceling films, more folks lose faith in the properties. And Gary, I am willing to be wrong and hope he makes some faithful movies -
