New guy just pullin with Legion. 😂Awesome!
Please please get Nate on more often
Hey Jeff, wanted to stop by and say thanks for the knowledge bombs you drop every vid! I won my first race last weekend in a heads up sprint, and your pointers on timing a sprint were in my head right until I crossed the finish. Keep up the vids. Stoked to have an invaluable resource like this.
The emergence of African cycling over recent years is such a great story. Johnathan Boyer deserves a huge amount of credit for kick-starting a cycling community that has produced top-level riders. If you haven't seen the documentary about him and the efforts to inspire cyclists, it is highly recommended.
One of my local bike clubs has a screening of the documentary tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it!
It's just the beginning! Part of the beauty of cycling is the locations of the courses. I can't wait for more cool races in Africa and Asia. The Ethiopian highlands would make for an awesome race location (Stuff like the taiwan KOM are freaking awesome)
@@yumyumhungry Agreed.
Of the 195 starter at the World Champs this year, 61 riders finished with or ahead of the peloton, 35 riders were from just 7 countries. 6 were Belgian, 6 Spaniards, 5 Norwegians, 5 Slovenians, 5 French, 4 Italians, 4 Dutch... and just 6 were outside of Europe. 3 from North America, an Aussie, a Japanese... and an Eritrean.
The whole family is so proud of you Natnael, looking forward for more success and May God be with you bro
Natnael's a great pick up! He rode a very visible race at Oakland and SC and looked super strong. 2022's gonna be hype!
Jeff can you make a video how to manage work, family, and racing how do you manage your timr
Right?!?🤷🏼♂️
@@markcavandish1295 Sorry to hear that patrick lefevere isn't paying you a living wage
Awesome. Would b cool to make a full story on Nate. How he got started in Eritrea 🇪🇷 to where he is at now.
Eritrea, Sweden, SoCal, would be very interestin
@@3mtech Switzerland not Sweden 🤣
If Mike's Bikes is trying to pick you up after watching you race twice.
You got something special.
Looking forward to see the new guy race. He looks like a super nice guy!
One of the coolest things about that track is “The Corkscrew” - the downhill craziness after the big climb. It’s actually a 6 story stop from top to bottom! Amazing place to race cars (and ride bikes, too)!
What really impressed me about this is how Glen is basically dropped on the steep part of the climb on the last lap, but as the grade leveled out at the summit, didn't panic, kept the power up and moved to near the front. If the leaders had been able to follow thru, and keep the power high until the Corkscrew, catching back on would have been tougher (but Glen is so fast he probably would still have made it).
You mean Jeff. Glenn is the diesel engine dutch guy ;)
Good job and proud of you Nate bro! ….. Looking forward to more success in 2022 🙏🏾
Nate sounds very nice and chill :) Good addition to tmb
It just clicked on my head that Laguna seca is the same one from Forza and only realized once I saw you crest that hill and those turns on the downhill! Always messed me up back in Forza motorsports 4 lmao
Great racing guys! How long is Nate staying? I'm hoping to see a lot from him!
The legendary corkscrew
This is a crazy comment lol. Such a nostalgic game for me
@@Aholeintheozone I remember racing on this track in Real Racing 3 on my iPad Mini when I was in middle school 😛
@@willforslund I remember it from gran turismo 3!
@@WillFaustCuber Same except on my iPod touch lol. Real Racing 3 was epic
so cool seeing bikes going down the corkscrew
New guy taking pull’s with Legion. Man is insane. The people want more of Nate!
me being a motor racing fan running into this channel and then he does a video on a laguna Seca race XD
Nate is a beast! go solo cus You Only Race Once
This is actually really sick, I typically only look at motor racing on this track, I've never seen an actual bike race on it.
put Laguna Seca in the Title bro, I'm so damn impressed there's a friggin bike race on it!
I see some tarmac sl7 recall riders. Dangerous!
Nate sounds like such a sweet guy, more of him please!
Excellent sweeping by Sam, really well done
This was cool Jeff.
Humility always Wins.
Excellent commentary!! I think your team is positioned for great stuff next year!! 7,8,9,10 is a great team effort.
Wow leguna seca on a bie what a dream!
It looks like so much fun riding down the corkscrew on a road bike, especially after you had those 2 back to back climbs to get there.
Great addition to the team! What a way to say, I'm the new guy and I'm good!
For these bigger races, I would love to see camera footage from all of TMB riders and get a breakdown of the whole race from each riders perspective. Of course this would mean a whole lot more editing on your behalf but it would make great viewing
Nate has such a wholesome vibe about him
7th 8th 9th and 10th is funny and absolutely give nate a camera
That Meter counter in the corner is very Nice!!
Woooaaah loveyou jeff❤️ Solid fan from Philippines💪
What a brutal climb!
Nate has a wonderful smile!
as a car fan, this is dope
@Nate congrats on joining Mikes. i rode with Kahsay at Seagull Century back in MD last weekend. Thought i'd see u at POO Tuesday.
Nate is an awesome guy! I was so lucky to meet and ride with him a few times.
What a beautiful course!
So awesome Nate!!! Is it rude of me to ask how old Nate is?
my favorite course. going down the corkscrew on a bike is surreal. feels like infinite traction.
Love seeing tracks from gran turismo haha! I love riding on racetracks - the best! Good stuff Nate!
OMG what a magnificant sweep/block Sam did on that last corner!!! You could have won that Sprint with a seated 600-watt 😆 Sam created a instant 3-4bike Gap on that last corner superb.
Text book sweeping.
Cat 5 Salute from Chris!!
😆😆
Awesome srpint!
Welcome, Nate!
Love the circuit.
Done in by a seatpost. Eritrea via Switzerland? Interesting life. Best wishes, beat Legion.
Yo, Nate Messmer? My long lost cousin perhaps? 🤘😊
What will you guys do about the sl7 recall?
They will not mention it at all.
They likely have to return the bikes to their sponsor, so it's not an issue for them.
My guy Nate!
Comment podium💪 from Philippines 🇵🇭 jeff.
Put the Track name in the tittle, Laguna Seca will bring a lot of viewers
Yess
May have been brought up before... but have you ever considered mirroring the rear view cam? So it looks like it does in a car, bike on the left of the rear view comes up on the left of the bike. It always messes with my head when I'm trying to follow who's making moves where.
Good vibes =)
GOOO Nate
Go Nate! :)
I feel like I've seen this track on grand turismo
What's the plan for equipment next year now that Mike's Bikes has separated from Specialized?
You are recording in a garage and your sound is that good? Do you use a gate on your vocal channels to minimize the sound or what?
how cool is it to race at laguna seca? holy shit!
Like your channel. Please add the gradient in the footage.
Hey I wanted to ask what editing software are you using for your videos? Plz let me know
Hi jef wasn't it a waste of eneregy moving up on the climb especially on the last lap?
Yes, if you're not a climber, you ideally want to sag the climb. I needed to move up in order to not get dropped (see the rear cam)
Jeff, I believe I saw in one of your videos that you run a 42cm handlebar. I'm curious what the width is between your shoulders. Do like to have the width of your handlebar match your shoulder width or something else? Thanks.
Please invite him here more often)
Chris riker is just a solo king
What kind of wheels do you ride
How to export data to video like that ?
Can you use radios to communicate between teammates?
yep. some do if they can afford them (quality radios at least).
I'd fly to Australia to do this on my panaroma
Is the Mike bike kit for sale anywhere btw
It will be, i'll make a post on my IG
Does Nate have an Instagram or Strava you can link to?
nate mesmer
Curious.. How old is Nate?
Are you sure that was a 14% gradient there? I’d say 5% or 6% at most
It's probably 60 degrees in the garage and they are wearing coats like its in the 30s. Huge difference between Westcoast and Eastcoast.
I remember seeing Nicky Hayden win his first GP there... RIP
And Colin Edwards turn his WSBK season around at laguna seca to take the title in 2002
Maybe it's just the camera angle but it looks like everybody is riding 30-32mm tires?
Everything okay with Glenn?
How is it at 3:48 everyone's coasting at 44 mph on flat into headwind?
I believe that part is probably a descent
By the way how did you guys get so strong..
They'll do anything for marginal gains. 🦵
Super duper Kyle?
Where's nate at now?
7:34 Corey Williams going backwards??
where is Nate btw Jeff ?
I wonder if most people ran 23,c considering it's a real race track
Aye what's up
Why was Chris chasing a teammate?!?!
🤦♂️
NATE!!
i had to go up that first climb for the start in the mtb race- I'm a junior btw
why is everyone sitting up at 35-40mph on the descent? My chin would be touching the stem at those kind of speeds and gaining a ridiculous amount of speed over anyone not doing the same.
First, gotta be at the front at the top of the climb for that to make sense. Second, you have a 3 second gap off the front (best case) battling a headwind on a straight section of road. Now what? Not a great position to be in.
Sounds like that Indian kid from that 70s show
Jesus christ! Does Specialized sponsor everyone in California? 90% of the field is on tarmacs.
Mike's was one of the biggest resellers (if not the biggest) of Spesh here. Recently they got bought out by Cervelo's parent company ...who's bought a handful of other bike companies (most recently Cannondale). So we will see where this goes next season with sponsorship.
@@kenmei18 Yeah either going to be riding a Cervelo or Giant right? I'm a big TCR fan myself!
@@kenmei18 "pon holdings" i think a dutch conglomerate
why does eritrea have so many good cyclists at continental or even world tour level when no other country in east africa is anywhere close to relevant?
Do some more research. There are some solid professional Ethiopian and Rwanda riders.
thats 50kph not mph sir
50mph sir
@@NorCalCycling tbh i just looked at thw thumbnail and didnt watch the vid
my first race was a few days ago and ur channel was the one i watched to see how most of the races play out. Great content!
"Is crit racing not a thing in Erytrea" - FFS, dude come one... You're asking this about a poor African country run by a brutal totalitarian regime and barely any infrastracture.
That beard is not aero at all
wind tunnel testing has shown otherwise.
