  • Disney is going to be adding 24/7 streaming channels to Disney+ ... effectively becoming television. So what exactly was the point of cord cutting, again?

@@ryanhuang8498Sure, if you only want to watch network television (which has absolutely nothing good or even decent, and by some strange witchcraft is even more barren and absent when it comes to good tv shows than modern cable) and PBS.
Then again, I suppose if you live in or near a major city, you might find some decent public access cheeziness. A lot of Americans don't have that option, though.
The real, true answer to the streaming / cable / antenna weirdo problem is learning how to use Kodi. That, combined with tubi / Pluto and whatever takes the place of the platform we are currently on after they fall (and their current desire to replace smaller content creators with hollywood by becoming Nu Cable TV will ensure that) is what will offer the best entertainment in the coming years.

That's pretty much how I grew up, I didn't have cable and had to really navigate with the TV guide to find TV shows and movies and I watched a lot of syndicated shows that were from the 60s-70s-80s, same with movies and I hope the younger generations go through this too because if you watch the older stuff you notice a lot of the same kind of topics come up, young people vs adults, women fighting to be seen and so many things that today they try and play off as new and progressive, whenever I see younger people react to older content and see diversity and strong female characters they are so surprised thinking it's so progressive when those of us who grew up with this just see it as normal.

This is the dumbest idea imaginable. I'm gen X. I don't watch cable. I don't know anyone who watches cable other than MY parents. I don't watch many streaming sites. I buy maybe ONE subscription to a streaming service for one show, and then typically don't find anything else I want to watch, so I cancel. I spend most of my free time when I'm watching something on CZcams. Free beats streaming. Streaming demolishes cable. Cable became garbage when they started showing you ads for a PAID service on pretty much every channel. There is no competitive advantage cable has over any streaming platform. This is the technological equivalent of saying "Well, our office phones are too expensive, so we're cutting them off and going back to telegrams".

Really? I thought Gen x would still watch cable with the boomers. Although, I’ve heard even some of the older folks have cut their cable as well. Even the people who are in their 70s. I thought it was just millennials and gen z cutting the cable. Maybe the younger side of gen xers, too. Mostly, I guess I just figured this because many of the people in my life who are silent gen, boomers, and gen x all still pay for cable even if they also like some streaming services as well.
They like cable still for at least the tv news, sports, and movie channels. They also like the reality tv shows, game shows like Weakest Link + retro game shows, and the public channels. Some are into farming and idk, whatever is on public free channels. Then myself (born in ‘96), my brother (born in ‘86), my step-siblings (all are either same age as me or younger) alongside anyone else on the younger side buy streaming.

Anything you can find on cable, you can find it better, more condensed, and more specific an informative on CZcams. Shows will show you how to fix a sink. CZcams will show you how to fix your specific model of sink in like 10 minutes, max. As far as movies are concerned, the movie market has been gutted. 1.2 billion movie tickets sold is 2019. 800 mil or less tickets for the past few years. They hardly even make movies any more.

aren't streaming services just rental places for online seeing how what if you wanted to watch something offline? You can't go ONLINE when your internet is out. Even for TV you NEED online.
they need to pander to both sides of the isle who don't mind the online rental practically vs people who actually want ownership to seeing their shows.....
beside, it's not gonna work. Ads upon ads upon ads included it'll be worse then commercials. at least you get a good 5-8 minute break inbetween, with a pause here, it'll just interrupt what you're watching. I guess it's good for kids if you want to put something friendly on for them and know that they won't be groomed as your back is turned, but when an ad happens that's 30 seconds of your kid either waiting or gonna do something while waiting lmao.
just saying for something you PAY for to have, as an online service and still have to pay for no ads or even get ads
that is literally no different from paying for a t.v paying for the electric bill for that t.v and then still getting ads.
Disney is dumb.....at least I'd never do that, but sadly I don't...exactly have a streaming service to offer lol.
though I don't NEED to go back and watch shows like that when I go to a pirated website for free anyway with adblockers and a VPN so that way I can watch whatever I wanted anyway. including those shows old shows new shows and movies if I want too.

There is a solution for that. It's called over the air TV. TV antenna to your Digital TV or tuner via coaxial input. Your digital tuner or TV has a programming guide. In most cases simply choose the program you want to watch from the guide. A timer will start and when it's time to watch the program the TV will switch to that channel at just the right time for the show to appear. It's almost like having pay TV service but $0. Over the air TV also has better picture quality than streaming in most cases due to the lack of latency. If you live in a strong TV reception area this could be an option.

Even the big services like Comcast, Dish, etc have all those channels but there isn't anything good on over 1000 channels most days.
