    I love pallets. I just picked up about 10 of them and I'm making a raised bed for gardening this year. There is a pool & spa place about a block from my office and they ALWAYS have pallets out back. Some of them are huge, because the hot tubs were shipped on the pallets. Amazing sources for free wood. A jointer and a planner can make some really nice wood (oh, and Metal detector if you like to keep sharp, knick-free blades.)

    I've been using door pallets, they are usually 6' long sometimes with high quality boards. They tend to be great for all the silly projects I want to make. One of my biggest projects was a grand stair case for my cat.

    Just finished making this cool looking side table, thanks to you and your great video. I did a light gray wash finish, followed by a dry brushing with some light brown latex paint. Finished with a coat of poly acrylic and wow, it really looks great. Now the wife wants 3 more for the patio and front & back porches! Love your helpful videos, Steve!

    Pallets are cool, I used some for one of my sons scout projects awhile back. Just remember, when you are done, have some rasberry icecream to clense the pallet.

    I have done several works with boards of pallets.
    A table for the workshop PC's, but with feet of iron, the fence the backyard for the dog does not get out into the street, and a dog house.
    Your table is very good.

    I wanted a video to make some rustic, simple side tables, and couldn't believe how many crappy videos I found, with people just throwing shit at a wall and hoping it sticks, basically. Thank you for your down-to-earth, non-pretentious video! The table is adorable, and the table is exactly what I wanted to build for our bedroom. You rock.

    My wife wanted me to make a wine rack from a pallet that she saw on Pinterest. I found a great way to save the entire pallet boards. Since they are likely power nailed it is hard to get the nails out. I just cut through the nails between the board and the runner with a reciprocating saw and pop the nail heads out.

    Pallet projects are great. Please do more of them. I make stuff out of pallets all the time. Instead of just Craigslist as a source. Drive around to local businesses as well. NOT the big box stores. If you see a place that has pallets laying around, just ask them. If they have lots of blue pallets, keep driving. Blue pallets are what you will see at the big box stores and they are usually sent back for a refund, They are really good pallets though if you can get any.

    Made one of these about 5 months ago out of scrap pallets I had from my sons playhouse swingset and it came out decent
    I messed up by not accounting for the thickness of the 2 side skirt boards and half way through was gonna trash it but I kinda went back at it with a "it's ruined but ill finish it" mindset but after sanding, burning it for an aged look and slapping on some spar eurathane the top is nice and smooth and it looks pretty cool and does the job i need it to on my outdoor patio deck.

No more headaches of that type any more. Actually accidently came across a perfect granite stone [48" x 48" x 30" -0.002" total error] in a company's quality control room. regards

    1/2' is pretty strong but it depends on how heave you want to go, if you think it is super heavy just go with the 3/4" when you are hanging stuff in your shop going a size up can save you a headache from a collapse and it can hold more so if you expand your stuff you can put more weight on it.

      He did make this project with basic tools and yes he has other tools and equipment. What's your point. I also do projects that don't always utilize all my more advanced tools. The basis of this project was to do it with a very few tools that most people have and that is what he did.

    • @karlackdamack4238
      @karlackdamack4238 Před 9 lety

      ***** I did say he has other tools. That's not the point. He pointed out in the first 12 seconds that he designed this project to be made with very limited tools, a jig saw, a hammer, a drill and a sander. You do later see him using a couple clamps, a pry bar, tape measure and a square. Wow, he really over did it here huh? If you are a wood worker and don't have these basic tools then you need to go shopping at a local hardware/tool store. Yes, He does have a lot of other tools. He DESIGNED THIS PROJECT as he pointed out, to be made with very limited tools. He was doing something nice for those who don't have a lot of tools and equipment.
