  • When I first started out using lighting equipment I avoided "Hard light" at all costs. The more I create the more I realize what a mistake that was. Hard light is such a great way to ad feeling into your photos and videos. I admit it is challenging to work with. But there are some simple set ups like the one I'm demonstrating in this video that can really push your images.

    Amazing! I'm going to shoot a commercial in a factory with really bad lighting and I need to be creative with the Amaran 300c. That video is what I need!

    thank you so much for this video, im completly new when it comes to lighting and just got the amaran 200d. i started getting quite demotivated when i saw that just the Spotlight Attachment is another 400€. good to see you're able to get work done with the basic equipment and some creativity!

      I do have to say that the fresnel adapter is worth it if you’re going to recreate fake sun often. But if it’s just an every once in a while technique then you can just get by with the reflector.

      @@codylander Gotta say that recreating fake sun light is the only reason I want lighting at all, especially some streaks on the wall or faking windows 😁 just ordered a fresnel aswell!

      @@lecanius The fresnel is a great addition! You’ll love it. You can also take a look at the Amaran Spotlight SE. We use it constantly at work. 👍🏼

      @@codylander would be interested in the difference of the fresnel and the Spotlight se since the spotlight is 4x as expensive

      Keep an eye out for that in the coming weeks.
      As you can see in this video we are taking that wide beam of light and narrowing it with the reflector. Then we can take that a step further with the fresnel. The spot light is that next level of narrowing. The spotlight SE starts to look like a big clunky camera lens. The glass elements are very smooth and you can actually focus them. Also there is a “gobo” set that allows you to display a variety of textures onto your surface.

    which stand do you recomend for the amaran 150c?

    • @codylander
      @codylander  Před 2 měsíci

      I’ve used cheap aluminum stands and some of the top brand c-stands. You could get by with using and aluminum stand as long as it’s legs/base is wide enough to take the load. If you want to boom the light over subjects I’d recommend a proper c-stand with some sandbags to keep your light and models safe. You can take a look in the description of this video to see a few options. 🫡

      You're welcome! More on the way. I just updated the links so you can check out the V-flat, C-Stand, and grip equipment. Also a cheaper c-stand option. But you know what they say "Cheaper is not always better." If you have anything specific you'd like to learn let me know :)

    I am food blogger sometimes the sun don’t cooperate and it’s keeping me from filming so I want to place a spot light outside my kitchen window to mimic and shines thru my blinds like sun usually do each morning, will this spotlight be enough? Link for the light kit please thank you kindly

      200d was one of my first lights. I love it! Check the description. My links are up including the Spotlight SE which I’m not using in this video but I do end up using a lot in our work.
