Watching Yannis’ video is kind of hilarious, because fully half of it is just him noodling along with the long instrumental passages. I love it. Tarja’s studio version of GLS was my introduction to Nightwish back in ‘05 so the song holds a special place in my heart, as it does for many NW fans. What I really love about this version is that I get the updates that Floor made to the song, with some Yannis touches here and there, and also full strength on the studio backing track. The live versions are always phenomenal but the orchestral elements and backing vocals always get a little buried behind the performance. So I am blessed, in this version, to have it all.
Unfortunately Nightwish with a live orchestra does not exist and may never, but we can dream.

I'm dreaming about a full live orchestra backing yannis and floor dueting this track, although the Geneva convention might possibly ban that much epicness in one place

I was happy that you also were more concentrating on the song as an art piece. I do not think all people understand that it is not ONLY FLOOR why that live video sounds so awesome. It is Tuomas playing the strings of your soul.

Exactly, I do believe people sometimes can get swept away only focusing on the vocal performance of a song and in turn they miss the beauty of the music.

Greek is a fairly digital language, so pronunciation is a bit more forgiving than most. (Makes you wonder how so many experts manage to mangle it by perpetuating mistakes introduced by the Erasmian model) Before I get even further off course, you did fine with his name.
Can't say I expected him to be where he is today when I first met the guy (common friends, back then) but definitely glad he did. He deserves it.

I adore that guy! He ist the ONLY one I allow to cover Nightwish! He is "worthy"! I so hope Floor has seen this video, she'd be very proud of him! Thank you for the great reaction. You're always speaking out what I'm thinking! :)

9:34 her name is Tarja Turunen, she was Nightwish's first singer. Also Yannis is classically trained.

I actually can't believe a male vocalist can sing like this. Amazing.
When you head back to Nightwish I've got a couple of suggestions for songs I reckon you'll like: Bless the Child (from Wacken 2013 again) or Tribal (studio version from the latest album - there's a video to go with this in Nightwish's official channel). Also check out this excellent fancam footage of Nightwish performing Tribal at a "secret" gig earlier this year. The quality is probably good enough to do a reaction to (I think) and it gives you a sense of the power Floor has when singing live: czcams.com/video/v3hyKxehcs0/video.html

Its what i love about BiB if a song is emotional you can feel those emotion in Yannis voice. From his voice actual quivering to his general tone, it shows you how much effort he puts into singing

Kudos for checking this out. His cover of Let It Go from Frozen is great too.
Am I the only one who would love to see Yannis and Tatiana from Jinjer do a duet? Especially a metal cover of some classic duet and just screw with everyone's brains. Maybe I'm weird...
