There is only three valid reactions I've seen to this. One. Shock and Awe. Two. Big wide smiles. Three. Tears. Or four. All of the above. I do agree with Tom there. Some songs should never be covered, it somehow... hurts the holiness of it. This was one of those songs, but Yannis absolutely nailed it.
Honestly I think I was all 4 by the end of this cover.

Well, Floor did cover it and made it way poppier than it was originally which truly did hurt the holiness off it so you're not wrong. Ghost love score, Deep silent complete, Ever dream, Crownless, She is my sin and couple others are Tarja's songs 100% and one doesn't simply cover them.
And when asked about falsetto, Yannis replied that he doesn't use it because he feels his voice never disconnects. That first part is him comfortably singing in his mixed voice.
I thought his secret was that he had a midget in his trench coat playing his balls like an accordion.
The satisfaction that hits when Yannis sings the last chorus is something one can't simply ignore. For me the best rendition of that last "My fall...".

Yannis is excellent singer! This is one of only 3 Nightwish covers that I do like and listen to.

Beast in Black used to tour with Nightwish. Not to mention Yannis has been a Nightwish fan since he was little and has always wanted to sing their songs. You can tell he's a super fan :D

Yes Yannis Papadopoulos is the most Hellenic name and last name ever. Even with my friends we giggle. He is a legend the future of our metal scene even though he is in Finland now he has connection here in Hellas and we see other names popping up
Papadopoulos (Παπαδόπουλος) is the most common family name in Greece. Giannis ( Γιάννης/ John) is the most common given name. Something like John Smith / James o' Sullivan.
You should listen to Jarkko Ahola performing "Walking in The Air". Maybe even do a double reaction, Nightwish version first and Jarkko's version second. When I first listened to it, I felt the same as You while watching this one.
P.S Jarkko was also rumored as being a person to replace Marko.

Music is instrumental version of song. You can get it by purchasing double CD version of album. I can't remember name of it but it's one of the Tarja era albums.
There're many Greek great vocalists and bands in Greece. Listen the new single of Yiannis previous band Wardrum the song Maverics. Also listen the baland Ocean Deep from Beast In Black.

Jarkko Ahola is thought to be a possible replacement for Marko. Propably not because they are especially looking for a BASSIST. He was in Northern Kings with Marko and two other great singers. He has performed with Tuomas' wife Johanna Kurkela, (and Tuomas has kissed him. lol) Jarkko is a very good self taught singer, not sure if he was good enough for Nightwish as a bassist, but he has played the bass. I would say women particularly seem to love Jarkko, but men too. Jarkko loves metal but can sing anything, operatic style included.

About 20 years ago I found Nightwish accidentally. I was picking random artists from an old FTP server and I will never forget when I heard Stargazers for the 1st time. I believe it was the same feeling in my gut as when I fall in love. :) Now, 20 years later, I still think this is the best band I have ever listened to. Anyways, you said you like European rock/metal music and good male vocals like Mr. Papadopoulus. So, I would like to suggest you to try one of my favorites and may be the best power metal bands Helloween. There is a chance you already know them, but if you don't, I think you will like there songs: Steel Tormentor, Power, Halloween, I want out, etc. etc.
Other cover type things:
1. Crewish - The Nightwish tour crew released an album covering Nightwish songs as a fundraiser (its in the official Nightwish store)
2. Leo Moracchioli - has not covered Nightwish yet but he takes songs (almost every genre) and covers them in metal style. Would suggest checking out his Hello by Adele and/or Listen to your Heart by Roxxette covers
Or Leo's cover of Africa with the amazing guitar of Rabea Massaad. If you do this one, don't forget the outro!!

No, he is not the subtitude for marko. A session bassist wiil play the bas parts of Marko , Marko singing part will be done by Floor or Troy or never be played live again. We still hope that Marko will come back some day.

I think he sang to the 2005 GLS instrumental version that Nightwish put on their "Once" album. It accentuated the choral and Orchestral parts since there was no vocalist track. Anyone else feel that way?

The original NW recording is Tarja singing. However Yannis did his version closer to Floor’s.

There’s some logistical challenges as Yannis doesn’t play bass so they would need another musician. Would he leave Beast in black or try to juggle both bands? Troy could do bass but who plays bass in moments when Troy plays the pipes?

Ghost love score is a song most people consider to not be cover'able' and it's true but for every rule there is an exception, yannis is that exception.
Check out his cover of Let It Go from Frozen too. With the long history of women covering guys' songs, it is great seeing some guys return the favor.

Everybody have their jaws dropping to floor and Yannis still wasn't even happy with his performance of this song. If I remember correctly, he recorded this video in 2016 and didn't release it because he didn't consider it good enough. See The Charismatic Voice interview of him for more details.
This song never had a music video, it’s only ever been played live from 2004-present, although there was a break between 2007-2008, the song was then played again with Anette in 2009.
When Nightwish bought Floor in as a session vocalist from 2012-2013 and when she got the full-time job, 2013-present is when we saw the song being played again in high rotation.
Beast in black is a band from Finland founded by the original guitarist of battle beast (another band you should check out if you haven’t already).
I would say that Yannis is in a league of his own, that being said the person/people that could easily compliment him/keep up with him are Marco (tarot/ex Nightwish and Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica).
If you haven’t heard anything from Sonata Arctica just yet, listen to Tallulah live in Finland 2011.
There’s also other songs by them like I have a right, not to mention a really cool cover of wind beneath my wings by Bette Midler, paid in full and flag in the ground, just to name a few.
If you like end up liking both Marco and Tony equally may I suggest northern kings, they did covers of 80s pop songs, I would definitely suggest we don’t need another hero, I’m not kidding.

They are primarily looking for a bass player. Singing is not a must. Troy will take over the part where it fits and where it doesn't fit the song will be removed from the setlist. I think that will be the case with some songs because Troy has a too soft voice for many songs.

i don't think there's any type of music video for GLS. Only live versions. I believe I heard that GLS was like a b-side to another nightwish song. Can't recall what that a-side would have been.

The only artist that comes to mind who can also achieve this is The Darkness with in my opinion their best song: I believe in a thing called love. Check that one out if you want.
America is lazy and congested with autotune...ei/ listen to Gaga (one of our biggest artists), the entire album is congested with autotune that can be distinctly heard on a high end system...pew! To listen to real music one must close the door and cross the ocean to real talent. Floor is a great example of dedication, hard work, and true passion as a vocalist.
While i agree, Gaga doesnt need autotune to be honest. Lots of artist use autotune, even the good ones. The prob is is the ones that use it that cant sing without it
@@TomTuffnuts Todays high end/hifi receivers and audio technology allow you not only just listen to a song but to also watch the sound waves on a screen in a timing cut of the song. We have 2 4k's on the wall above/below, so we watch the music video along with the sound wave cut right below it. An example would be Floor's Cover of Oblivion with the sound wave mixing screen shown in the background of the video. So autotune can not just be heard it can be also seen on a screen with this technology . After hosting and attending many audiophile house gatherings "autotune" is the star of the party, many pauses/rewinds with comments- it's an audio nerd thing. American music with Gaga as the "Queen of Autotune" is the star of the party sadly. Where Gaga is the queen of autotune, Floor has had no autotune ever detected in any sound tract of her entire career. Thus the statement "The most powerful Vocalist on the Planet" being seen in almost every reaction video comment section on CZcams. No never a replacement for Marko!!! He has an exceptional voice but the contrast between Marko and Floor makes the songs so great! The grit in Marko s voice and than the other way round Marko singing with his clean voice and Floor growling or playing different parts like in Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean! That made them so outstanding! Please check out Jarkko Ahola with his versions of Stormbringer or Highway Star!🔥😀He sings very high too but with his own/selfedcuted style.There were rumours about him as replacement. But no longer as i ve heard. Sadly!

Just to name a couple....
Also, while I agree with his talent, it sounds unnatural and the parts where he tried to imitate the "Floor" version, just doesn't sound right. Makes more sense if he would have done it in a more rocky/metal voice than trying to imitate the higher ranges. There are so many parts in this version where, it's not the smoothness of Floor's voice, so it sounds unnatural, and when he drops into that more growly section, it still sounds like an imitation done by a budding singer rather than someone with this much talent.
Not to take away from Yannis, I think he is an amazing singer, but trying to imitate this version rather than change the parts more suited to his voice, makes the song sound off and unnatural.
Also, just an aside, while he can reach those higher ranges, he doesn't bring the emotion to the song that Floor does in all her performances. It just sounds like a poor imitation.
I love your reaction, but I have to pretend I didn't see this video and a couple of comments here that pissed me off so I could see other reactions to Floor that I haven't seen on the this channel yet.
I like yannis's voice and his singing but Floor is just so much more dinamic and the emotions that she brings out with here voice cant be matched.
Unfortunately Nightwish has gone downhill ever since Floor joined. There hasn't even been new album for years.

@@pieteruys8961 No. Imaginaerum is last decent NW album. After that Tuomas is so focused on his VSTs it takes him 4-5 years to get enough music for new album. There's barely any metal in their music in last two albums.

Floor operatic voice was clear, wider, more powerful, more varied, and she sang live in a crazy environment before this song, she sang one song after another for over an hour, this guy is far from Floor.I hope the translator translated correctly.
