In Feb of 2018, Pure Unintentional ASMR was born when I edited a John Butler interview with Conscious TV and it went viral, racking up over 20 million views. Last year, I flew to meet the man himself at the scene of the famous interview, All Saint’s Church in Bakewell, England. I brought along the original cameraman in the hope to capture as much of the magic of the original interview as possible.
Honestly, I was pretty nervous especially at the start of the interview and I don’t think my questions were the best but hopefully I don’t ruin it too much. John was in great form and we had a great chat for over an hour and half. So sit back relax and enjoy this interview with the man with the most relaxing voice in the world, in my opinion anyway!
With thanks to Phil Shankland and John Butler and my apologies for the delay in getting this video out to you all! Hope you like it and really looking forward to the comments and hearing what you all think. Sleep well!

Only to the ones that choose not to hear him. This older man is an asset to humanity. Long ago he would have been a chief or what have you. People hundreds of years ago felt more for one another than they did for themselves . A cow being purchased for his family provided milk ,milk was more calories for the family more array of baked goods...it was gold. Many oeople hundreds of years ago didnt own a mirror....life was not in a bubble in those days. It wasnt selfish it wasnt about yourself. It was pure. People really could hear the birds the crickets and care deeply for one another. People could really see life. Life shouldnt be selfish and it shouldnt be about yourself but about others. When you deeply care more about others you give yourself a gift, its fullfilling . Love penetrates everything it touches and spreads. In the Bible it says love by neighbor as you love yourself... How many people can actually do that. I know that is something I'm working on presently. Nowadays you hear people talking about you should make yourself come first there's videos on it Everywhere.

It’s alright. Knowledge puts your mind at reliable peace. As you grow older, certain knowledge obtained becomes wisdom. You’re doing good, for appreciating the quality of some good wisdom. Now there’s no more room for worry.
Oh, I can absolutely relate to that.
i kinda did a little watching this vid a few times haha
This is incredible. He is easily the most well-known target of an unintentional ASMR video in the world. I don't think there's a single person who has ever searched for unintentional ASMR that could not remember, "he was a quiet man, an artist"

@@Nezha_Main Yeah, I actually largely agree with that sentiment. That's extremely rare, that I come across someone who feels the same as I do on the matter.
Out of curiosity, do you find it to be difficult to find other people who think in the same manner? Across my entire life, I've met maybe two people who share my sentiment, but I often wonder if it's my fault for simply being socially reclusive.
Holy shite, this is the most mellow dude I've heard.
It's like his whole presence is a feather.
this is the most accurate description ever lmao
as soon as i heard his voice. i teared up. with someone with autism and ptsd, im very sensitive to loud noises and people talking very loudly. his voice is so calming that i couldnt help but cry as i heard this man speak. thank you for blessing my ears, brain, heart and soul John Butler
i'm also autistic! i'm fairly sensory-avoidant, but at times (especially when i'm understimulated, "bored" or generally dissatisfied with my surroundings) i can be sensory seeking. sometimes loud voices, *perfectly* loud voices, are also captivating. for example, today in one of my classes, we had a guest speaker that had the most beautiful projection, his "lecture" or "speech" felt more like a conversation, and he had just the right amount of inflection and passion. although it wasn't soft or a whisper, it had the same... elements...? of an what i look for in asmr voices...
i'm probably not making any sense, it's late & i'm exhausted, and i don't really even know why i felt the need to yap here tbh.
also, you're absolutely right, his voice brings me a peace i don't usually get to feel throughout my day. very relaxing.
@senpit im the same way! i can very much be sensory-avoidant. like when my little sister hugs me, i panic and like try not to cry, its weird ik. but the times i do sensory seeking like stuff. its normal for me to just randomly hug my mom or i'll just cry because i like the feeling of it. and the asmr part you were talking about, when it comes to asmr, people really just whisper and dont use their real voices because well- its loud and asmr is relaxing. so when this guy talks, you can tell hes not forcing the volume of his tone of voice.
and bye the way! i dont mind what you call yapping, im doing hw rn and reading that gave me something to do.
edit: i was in my kitchen and remembered something i could add onto what i said. i can handle loud noises at times. like my taste in music is heavy metal. but i went to a concert not to long ago and i got so overstimulated so fast by how loud the speakers got. i was so overstimulated to the point where i was crying in the bathroom, trying to calm myself down
I'm not autistic but I have sensitive ears. I have some friends that are loud talkers, & sometimes when they talk, idk how to explain it. It feels like a shrill & too loud for my ears. I ask them if they could be a bit quieter but they get upset at me 🥲
@@goodnight2931 oh hunny i know that feeling all too well..
I’m also autistic and definitely more on the sensory issue side so his voice is like heaven, makes me wanna snuggle up in my blankets and sleep 🥹
"because after all, what is spiritual experience? It's just what's natural... like the look in a dogs eyes"
wow.
He is exactly what i imagine The Giver to look like from the book "The Giver"
I love him.
3:58 I was struck by how cute his Wink was😊😌
very very cute and so earnest!
I absolutely love this man and one of the thousand reasons is because he does something that virtually NOBODY does anymore: he takes time to compose his thoughts (you can physically see him do it as he looks to the side for a few moments of silence before answering a question that requires thought) before speaking. This is literally the exact opposite of the modern world wherein people just spew out stuff as fast as possible without any sort of “pre-thoughtfulness”.
You’re a treasure, John! 😊❤
I keep seeing în the comments same surprise you are talking about...that people think before they speak... Don't we ? We don't anymore?
@@alexandra6557for ME, writing is easier than speaking, because I can choose my words more carefully by taking my time. Infront of someone else, there is this nervousness and the Pressure that hold's you back of thinking about what you thinking of. We Human's are the only animal that can do that, it's easy to Struggle
ahmen. So true.

Thank you for arranging this interview. He’s a genuinely special soul.
In my life I've come across very few people that create a very peaceful atmosphere. Their whole presence is so calming and peaceful, they have such a wonderful energy, you instantly feel better. John Butler is one of these people, even through a screen you can feel that.
I wonder if you felt the same way when interviewing him?
Amazing video! I can only imagine how much work you've put into doing this incredible interview
Oh I did feel that way. Very much so. I could have sat there all day to be honest!
And thanks so much for the lovely comment. Appreciate it!
This is how I imagine Dumbledore talks in the books 🙂
This man is a saint. When he talks, all I want to do is sit quietly and listen to his wise words and learn new things.
A few years ago I was suffering from neuralgia in the middle of the night. They say it's one of the most painful things you can go through. Convulsions, cold sweat, uncontrollable shaking... you name it. I was basically hoping that I'd die. In my darkest hour I found John Butler and his soothing voice got me through the night. He certainly has a magical voice.
My man John has some god tier beard genetics

What makes his voice even better is the subtle whistle when he pronounces an ‘s’.
I love how humble he is. When told he seems so wise and seems to have all the answers, and asked how, he answers: "Made a lot of foolish mistakes, my dear." And isn't that the truth? Isn't that how we learn the most? Through our mistakes? As far as beliefs go, one does not have the same spiritual path or overall outlook of how things work in order to glean quite a bit of wisdom from this man. He has said before to take what he says that resonates and leave the rest. Thank you for this interview.
oh my, i want to hug this man. Such a good soul

It's always difficult to accept praise. Unless you're Mr. Butler. Congrats John, you passed the test admirably.
jaw dropping that this even exists - the internet can be a wonderful thing somtimes
I would love to meet this man. This is my first time even hearing about or even seeing him on my screen, but yet I feel like he is someone I can learn a lot from without feeling like I'm in school.
As someone who has a fairly short attention span, I peacefully and gratefully sit through all of the moments he simply sits and thinks on what he is going to say. He stretches time with the pause in his speech. truly beautiful.
crazy he got to be a part of the first home alone movie and he was humble enough not to even mention it
Who was he in the movie? I tried searching it up and couldn’t find anything
@@jordasaurus_rex I think they were making a joke because he looks a little similar to the character Marley (the strange old man) who was played by the late Roberts Blossom.

He is incredible!! This is the inspiration and information that should be plastered everywhere instead of reality television.
imagine that man being your grandfather and telling you a sleep story every night i wold be so happy
I’m an agnostic, but I could listen to this man talk about his beliefs and spirituality for hours. When someone is wise, I believe that wisdom can transcend belief systems. I believe in listening to people. Really, truly listening to people, and keeping an open mind. Even if I may not always agree with every single thing someone says. Even if I take their words and form my own opinions and beliefs about them that may be different from their opinions and beliefs. I think there is always value in listening to people. And he is a wonderful person to listen to. Wonderful voice, and wonderful wisdom. The way he sees the world, and life, and spirituality is truly beautiful and inspiring. I also love how accepting he seems to be. To me that’s the mark of true wisdom. Acceptance and kindness. He says that the own inner ego is worse than any other person you might meet, and that is why love is important. He even says that it’s ok if we don’t use the word God to describe what we believe in. Because we’re all still connected in spite of that. To me true wisdom is being firm in your beliefs whatever they may be, but still open minded enough to not show cruelty or hatred towards people who may disagree with you. And even allowing yourself to listen to some of those people and learn what you can, even if what you learn is “I don’t like that very much”. Keeping an open mind is an essential step in learning to love rather than hate. “We are different but still connected” is really the most simple way I can describe my own beliefs. I’m sort of rambling now but…in conclusion, I think this video is wonderful. 💕
This is delightfully outstanding, a real treat. Thank you! Christmas has come early indeed 🎄😴
