They should be higher because they do more, and they don't have to try hard in being funny, where as Hart is a one-note performer, he shouts too much, and tries too hard to be funny!Both Pharaoh, and Thompson can do so much with their talents, just a little facial expression, and impersonations are so perfectly done!!!!!!!!!! Brooks Wheelan was the first Pete Davidson. His comedy wasn't the norm-decades old SNL pat type of comedy. In the time when Brooks was hired, SNL was trying to evolve its comedy to compete with edgier platforms like Comedy Central. (remember the slew of new cast members that only lasted one season?)
    And Brooks is genuinely hilarious. His episode of Ridiculousness and AP Bio are classics. But the blame of him not reaching his full potential, and lasting only one season is all SNL's fault and lack of vision.
    Now, (several years later) SNL has evolved its comedic style, and the cast of today reflects that. Brooks Wheelan's time on SNL was ahead of its time; and we all have missed out on what laughs could have been.

    That movie Johnny Dangerously although not very good left me with a couple of quotes I still use today. Whenever Piscapos character cussed he said bastitches or ice hole. The only thing in that movie that made me even smile.

      @llandrin9205 Před 2 lety

      That wasn't Piscapo's character - that was Richard Dimitri as Moronie, the rival crime boss. Joe Piscopo's character was Danny Vermin who had the long barrel gun and said, "It shoots through schools." That was a funny line until people started shooting up schools. "Johnny Dangerously" is one of my favorite movies. It was so over-the-top silly and very funny.

    Laraine Newman was so wickedly talented its a shame she never landed a hit role in movies or tv afterwards. Lorne wanted her to repeat characters like Gilda did but she didn't want to. She did have a well-reviewed role in the John Travolta movie "Perfect." I recommend listening to her audiobook biography which contains an incredible look at the early years of SNL. Plus, she has amazing stories about living in Hollywood.
