Have you ever done a "Top 10 SNL Cast Members Who Got Fired and Then Returned"??
I remember a story of Damon Wayans getting fired but then returned years later.
I heard a rumor that jerry trainer was audition for SNL but he didn't join the cast
My friend from high school try out for Saturday Night Live on several occasions and it's really funny
I think Jim Carey being on In Living Color was a great move, both by him and Keenan Ivory Wayans
Agreed!!! I LOVED HIS CHARACTERS. ESPECIALLY FIRE MARSHALL BILL
This makes me miss the show more.
I love how these stars basically got the last laugh
Brother can i ask you some thing
Success is the best form of payback.
I know everyone who was rejected more than I know actual SNL actors
I would not go that far but as of late the comedians who did not make it are more funny. I can't watch because it is just not funny. Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Al Franken, Don Novello, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Rock, Will Ferrell, Jimmy Fallon, Dennis Miller, Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, David Spade, Chris Farley, Sarah Silverman, Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, Molly Shannon, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon all were cast members on the show.
Ironic that these rejected members, that were seen not good enough, became successful than most of the SNL crew
? You're missing a word.
Some people are just not a good fi, it doesn’t necessarily mean “not good enough”
Brother can i ask you some thing
Its not always they're not good enough. Sometimes the style of comedy wouldn't work for the show. Casting is tricky with SNL, they're are a ton of people that were one season cast members, got fired and went on to be big name comedy actors or movie stars.
Well that's the point of the clip..haha...wtf. Also through the yrs SNL has tons of actors that made and became huge stars. At least 50 of them. Having almost 50yrs of history helps. Ha.
SNL: “You’re not hired. You’ll never make it anywhere”
The rejected people:
I love it how they treat SNL like it's the biggest thing just because they didn't make it on the show doesn't mean they can't make it anywhere else lol.
So this is pretty much the opposite of the rejects from the audition phase for "American Idol."
Saved so much time!
not necessarily, Lorne was usually looking for someone to fit specific roles to play politicians, athletes, musicians or who ever was in the news that year, it wasn't always a judgement on talent ! of course the more characters or impressions someone can do helps !
Imagine all the SNL cast members finding about this video
Brother can i ask you some thing
@@ghostscience19 lol ask him I'm wondering 🤣
I’d hate to be them
@@ghostscience19 lol
@@ghostscience19 Yeah why not
Jordan Peele would be stressed on SNL. He does much more on madtv, the cult classic of sketch comedy!
Imagine if they'd gotten Key & Peele to host SNL together? Now that would be a dream come true right?
Would be, but they would outshine both writers and cast
@@eliavi3251 Probably most definitely
It will become Key & Peele show on NBC
Chappelle hosted SNL and outshined the whole cast. It was basically a new episode of chappelle show. And this could be a new episode of key and peele. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind lol
@@GeronFletcher exactly
Other people you forgot to mention
1.) Jennifer Aniston
2.) John Mulaney
3.) Nick Kroll
4.) Kel Mitchell

8.) Cathy Griffin
9.) David Cross
10.) Jeff Ross

12.) Louis C.K
13.) Tiffany Hadish
14.) Andy Kaufman
15.) Amber Ruffin
I know u probably couldn’t mention all these people but I’m just sayinf
Brother can i ask you soem thing
Wow! That's a long laundry list.
Just means this will become a 'Top 20' list before too long.
John Mulaney wasn't exactly rejected. He became a writer for the show for years so that's probably why they excluded him.
That's one heck of a list! Amber Ruffin is a comedic super star!
They rejected Kevin Hart? That's crazy crazy
It's an amazing thing that Jim Carrey never ended up on Saturday Night Live because I don't think he would have ever been as big of a star as he is if it happened
That's Lorne Michael's biggest casting regret, he's mentioned it a few times.
Kel Mitchell should’ve made this cut. When he and Kenan Thompson auditioned for SNL after their time on Nickelodeon ended, who knows what that would’ve been like if he made the cut?
Well, this explains why SNL sometimes misses its mark.
I guess Lisa Kudrow performed 'Smelly Cat' when auditing SNL 😼
After rejected by SNL, Jim Carrey turned into 'The Riddler' 🃏
knew jim would be #1. His run on In living Color was legendary. But I will admit, when I was a kid, I didn't really know how nicknames worked (jim/james, bill/will etc), so I didn't realize James Carrey in In Living Color was the same Jim Carrey in films. Yeah I was a stupid kid.
I would’ve loved to see Kel Mitchell on SNL
Especially since he auditioned at the same time as his friend Kenan Thompson
it's so dope that keanan was able to transition from all that to SNL.
@@thecunninlynguist it is pretty dope. All that was pretty much SNL for kids so I feel like the transition was pretty smooth.
@@JRMagro yup
@@thecunninlynguist yup
Yup
SNL really rejected Kevin Hart and Steve Carrell but said yes to Jimmy Fallon 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I can’t stand Jimmy Fallon, I’m with you.
What I’m still wondering is how he got a late night show
@@eduardomendoza6671 what I’m wondering is how he has a career
@eduardomendoza6671 right time, right place.
Just like Seth Meyers...
Because Fallon swallowed.
I thought I read somewhere that John Candy auditioned for Lorne Michaels in Canada and was turned down for SNL, saying “don’t quit your day job”
Agree with #1. Absolute comedy legend! Guess they left their laughters at home🤷♂️
I agree with you. Do you think, John Goodman should’ve been higher?
Key and Peele were legendary on Mad TV!
To be honest, they probably not as successful as today, if they on SNL.
Jim Carrey would’ve been the perfect cast member along with Kevin Hart
I swear to God Kevin Hart still hasn't made me laugh once to this day. He is one person whose celebrity baffles me to no end.
Thank you for saying that.
Absolutely agree!
Great video! Thank you ❤️
I cannot believe SNL rejected Kevin Hart, Childish Gambino, and Jordan Peele!!!
Turning down Carrey was a huge mistake, but no one that has ever worked with or for Lorne has ever claimed that he was a genius.
I'm glad they rejected Jim Carrey we wouldn't have gotten him on in living color which was a way funnier show then SNL
In Living Color probably beat SNL in quality the entire time it was on the air
In Living Color was a way better show. Carrey had some of the funniest clips too. Who ever rejected Carrey should have been fired.
both Mad Tv and In Living Color were much funnier than SNL because of their irreverent humor
They made a mistake not casting Donald Glover. He's incredible!
They made a mistake not hiring any of these people. All things turned out…
The fact Raz P Berry is shown is awesome love that skit!
Whoever rejected Jordan peele should get fired
Actually Jordan Peele was hired to be a cast member on SNL in 2008 during the writer’s strike but had to turn it down because MADtv was renewed and he was still under contract.
I haven’t looked at this list yet but Martin Lawrence and Jamie Foxx comes to mind
John Goodman as Linda Tripp never ceases to make me howl
I would LOVE to see the audition footage!
Amazing
Do a video about the best sketch shows inspired by SNL and/or featuring future or former cast members.
Whoever decided not to cast Jim Carrey must have been kicking themselves in the ass many times after seeing him on In Living Color. Which I'm glad he was on that show, because it was better than SNL in my opinion, and made Carrey the huge star that he is.
Gotta say it is hard to feel bad for Coolidge when you got passed over by Ferrel, Oteri and Kattan...3 of the most iconic and hilarious comedians to EVER be on the show!!!
Wow that's amazing
Stephen Colbert appeared on SNL as the voice of Ace in The Ambiguously Gay Duo
I think Keenan Ivory Wayans understood Jim Carey more than SNL did at the time, his style of comedy just seemed more at home on In Living Color than SNL.
John Goodman is a freaking star....
You should do a list of SNL hosts in the five timers club
I think that most of these people really benefitted from not being on SNL. SNL is hilarious at it's best and totally stupid at it's worst. Besides that it's super super hard to have a career afterwards and not just be known as "oh yeah, they're that person from SNL!"
You either get a good career only for it die off or end up in the Phantom Zone from Superman like how Mikey Day likely will
Aubrey, Goodman, Hart, Kudrow, Carry would've killed on SNL
Honorable Mention to Shane Gillis. He got hired and Fired in less than a week. Dude is gonna be big. His CZcams Special and Gilly & Keeves sketches are so GD funny
So he's a nobody 🤣
This comment was dog excrement
I'm black in the Drake way, lol, Fred Armisen is brilliant as Obama and my favorite Prince impressionist ever. Sometimes, its not appropriating, its appreciating
Aubrey’s dry humor is only for the unique lol i love her
Gotta mention Marc Maron here. His SNL audition story is a staple of the WTF podcast...
Jordan wasn't turned down. Fox or madtv wouldn't let him out of his contract and by the time he quit they had cast SNL already.
Sometimes a no is better than a yes.
Kelly Kapoor
Number One, How dare you
Nice
Oh my God I couldn't imagine having to audition against Fred Armison. He's one of my all time favorite members.
Clearly they knew they would eventually become bigger stars in the future
Saturday Night casting: Wait, we could’ve had all these great actors?!?
Longtime viewer being Devil’s advocate: Yeah, but, how many SNL veterans’ careers went nowhere? So, that’s that on that.
One former cast member, Gail Matthius, found some swell success after SNL when Eddie Murphy was there. She went on to play Shirley "the Loon" McLoon in Tiny Toons.
Maybe after Chevy Chase they added "will blend in and work well with the rest of the cast" to the criteria
The top 10 SNL moments that cast members still regret
Having Trump host in 2015. Taran Killam has said he regrets being involved during Trump's hosting.
Elon Musk was almost as cringe-worthy. Seems like choosing businessmen doesn't work well.
(Maybe Mark Cuban would change my mind, if ever got on.)
the Luther gives his seal of approval...
John Goodman hosted SNL 13 times. Actually at the 40th anniversary show he called it a Goodmans dozen!
How to be successful:
a) Do casting for SNL
b) wait til they reject you
c) Wait...
I understand that it is a joke, but still... SNL often struck goldenmine of talent. It is natural that sometimes the audition goes wrong, they do not have chemistry with other cast members etc... maybe not most, but half of the most beloved comedians were writers or comedians at SNL at some point in their life.
20,000 Mojo videos!
there is way more than that
Jim Carey being rejected 3 times is wild to me. His comedy isn’t for everyone, but he’s goated
Donald Glover is too good for SNL!
Kudrow also was cast as Roz in Frasier.. but got replaced..
@Alle Warten Auf Das Licht
She's truly amazing in that role!
Aubrey Plaza should be number 3,2 and 1
It really worked well for all those rejected
I wish SNL wouldve hired Mindy. Id have loved to been able to watch The Office without having to put up with her.
Wasn’t Stephen Colbert either Ace or Gary in the Ambiguously Gay Duo animation short. That’s sorta like being a cast member. I think he wrote them too.
10: John Goodman
9: Aubrey Plaza
8: Mindy Kaling
7: Jordan Peele
6: Stephen Colbert
5: Geena Davis
4: Donald Glover
3: Lisa Kudrow
2: Kevin Hart
1: Jimmy Carrey
Top 20 Cartoon Network villains (just Cartoon Network no Nickelodeon or Disney)
A classmate of mine tried out for us and our couple times make it honest and alright he didn't make it on us and I'll so far but hopefully someday he will hopefully he'll be on one of these lists a couple movies in a couple of commercials so far
Carrey and Goodman dodged a bullet. Being in the Season 6 cast might have ruined their careers.
They showed Merv Griffin, but the name Robert Blake appeared.
Steve Carrell also auditioned but was rejected in favor of Will Farrell.
Pass on Jordan peele's obama?! His impression is the best one!
Sick
Omg. Loren Michaels turned down some of the best talent … he choose Piscopo over Goodman
You forgot to mention that Richard Belzer was only a part-time cast member.
Snl loved Jordan Peele's audition but mad tv would not release him from his contract no matter how hard he tried, so ultimately it was a conflict of interest.
Yet another fact mojo didn't get right, they only want clout.
SNL isn’t the end all be all for comedians. There’s some people that were on SNL for years that couldn’t really match that success outside of SNL. It’s sketch comedy and that’s a difficult genre.
You're missing a secret one that should be a 2 or 3: JENNIFER ANNISTON. JENNIFER WAA OFFERED A CAST SPOT, but she turned it down because she thought the BTS was misogynistic. She was already a sketch comic before she at nbc
Where’s Shane Gillis? My man is killing it
The list of people that actually got hired on this show that aren't that famous anymore is even longer...The Irony *
I've never heard that Shaq impression by Kevin Hart. That's pretty spot-on I find it amazing as well that both Donald Glover and Jordan Peele wanted to play Barack Obama in 2008 but they choose Fred Armison. Why choose a white dude to play a black person? SNL got a lot of work to do in terms of that representation if that's how it works

@@ghostscience19 I mean kinda. Working on finishing my bachelor's for chemical engineering. Already completed 2 out of the four years
Yeah
If you were on a sketch show before SNL, Lorne Michaels wouldn't hire you. Artie Lange talked about this on Stern (way back when it was funny) about how Michaels had him audition just to screw with him.
Jim Carry number 1 just guessing
it's a wonder how some of the ones that actually made it through actually got there in the fist place, how do you pass on Jim Carrey over let's say a Jon Lovitz?
I'm in love with Aubrey plaza
Hard to imagine that they were passed up and some of the current cast still has jobs.
Why is kevin hart look like a low-key martian man hunter
Just because they thougth they woulnd't be a good fit for the show, doesn't mean they though they wouldn't be make it.
TV Show be like 😗📺
I'd put John Goodman much higher in this list.
Damn..They really lucked out on Kevin Hart 😆
Great luck to those rejected SNL folx, but seriously.......... EFF LORNE MICHAELS!
well Isn't Colbert technically an asterisk since he voiced one half of the Ambiguously Gay Duo?
Why isn't Steve Carell on the list?
You forgot about Arthur Fleck
