    Another tip for TSA check, put all liquids and powder in a reusable shopping bag/tote.
    Baby wipes (I've been stopped before,) formula powder, formula liquid, milk, bottles/sippy cups filled with water (TSA won't care if you tell them its for the formula,) frozen breast milk, and any thermoses filled with food or liquid.
    Tell TSA it's filled with baby/toddler things and they'll bring it to the checking area. They'll ask you to open anything that's not in a clear container. Other things that can't be open (i.e. anything with a seal) they'll sometimes pat down one parent (it depends on the airport.)
    Once I get to the gate I put everything away to its rightful bag, collapse the shopping bag and store it in one of my carry ons.

    Great video! Thanks for sharing about Rents4baby, had never heard of that, great idea. I agree with you on the screen time, we don't normally do at home but on long flights it's a must. I do think traveling with a stroller is a must, but my suggestion is buy used or borrow a cheaper easy to fold stroller, we bought a city mini double for $60 on Craigslist and were so glad, kids didn't complain about having to walk, no baby to carry and can always use it to push stuff if kids aren't sitting in it, they fold flat and are good for traveling, unlike many fancier strollers like UppaBaby or so, which we love but not for traveling.

    We’ve rented car seat twice (UAE and Germany) and it was so stressful and unsafe. That’s great it’s easier in states. Now I have two kids and any time I think about any trip I just can’t figure out how to drive safe with them, especially if I’m alone. Getting a taxi with two car seats it’s also not an easy task so even getting to the airport is a challenge.
    100% agree with you on screens. If a have my 7 months old on my laps my toddler can watch all the paw patrol he wants. But I always have alternatives for him in case he is bored with cartoons (and this happened multiple times).
    As for getting on a plane early, I’ve never understand the rush. I’m getting one of the last either im alone or with kids. We will have plenty of time to get bored on this plane later.

      Make sure to check with the airline to ensure the Baby is allowed on your lap (or in a bassinet) in First Class. I have been planning a splurge trip with my wife, and I've found a couple of the airlines have restrictions on lap babies in First.

    We rented a car seat from the car rental company when we flew from UK to Spain with an 18 month old. The car seat was basic quality (no isofix)and cost £50. After two trips we could have bought a car seat and paid for itself, plus if you get a back for it you get extra free hold storage for nappies etc.

    "...get familiar with your wife's diaper bag"
    Um, what? It's not your wife's, it's both of yours. What kind of father doesn't already know what's where in THEIR diaper bag?

    • @dadverb
      @dadverb  Před 2 lety +7

      While we're out as a family, sure you can categorize it as a family bag that everyone uses, but she'd largely claim it as hers. Good on you for stepping up as a dad and being familiar with the bag, but you'd be surprised with how many guys have never cared to look into a diaper bag, assume their wives always have everything packed and will do it all. For our travel setup, my backpack had much of the stuff for the boys while my wife's bag had stuff for the baby. When I'm with the kids/baby I have my own Kinbuilt diaper bag with my preferred configuration while my wife prefers her Freshly Picked as she considers it a hybrid of her personal purse and diaper bag.
