    Good points Mei- I think as artists we tell ourselves the "but my product won't cure cancer" line a lot! Important to remember that art makes people's lives better in many (large and small) ways.

    I loved the bereavement gift mention. When my grandma died, a friend reached out to me and offered her candle making expertise in a way that was customized to my grandma’s favorite aromas. Those aromas were adapted into a candle that honored my grandma and left a lasting impression with those close relatives who received this custom candle. Yes, it was a few extra bucks but guess what, it kept grandma with us in a lovely way.

    Wow! Thank you so much! My favorite tip was the reminder that a customers’ pain point can be as “simple” as looking for the perfect gift, or needing some “me time” to relax and unwind. Sometimes as a seller of handmade crafts, it can be easy to compare myself to businesses that I felt like were solving “real“ problems (like cutting edge healthcare, etc.) I now realize that my products are solving problems too!
    Thank you Mei!! 🙏🙏🙏 You produce incredible work and are really helping change lives! I can’t wait to keep learning from you. I’m sending you so much love. Bless you! 💜😌

    It's very true that introverts are great listeners! When doing craft shows, I make sure each customer gets all my attention, so they feel welcome and comfortable (which hopefully, and usually does, lead to sales!)

    I can't emphasize enough the relatability I have in regards to "money problems".
    When I was 12 years of age, my mother had sent me off to a psych ward after trying to defend myself in an abusive encounter. These psychiatric hospitalizations we're recurrent every summer because there was no school for me to go to and avoid the interactions. Through this in conjunction with a seizure disorder since infancy, I was declared disabled, and my mother was able to get "free money" from Social Security in my name as the designated payee. It wouldn't be until I was 27 years of age, through nonprofit services, I had realized I was being financially exploited by a woman who couldn't get her stuff together for the preceeding 22 years.
    It is because of experiences during those years of my childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood that I frequently fear what I might be costing someone especially if it is unreasonable. No matter the generosities, I am so scared that I am imposing a burden on them identical to what my mother did to me.
    Through this last year, I have been building the confidence to sell my products by sharing my passion for the medium through which they are made. I have feared charging higher prices for the longest time, and I am still working on the courage to do so. That said, I know that what I do and what I make are things people really do want. I hear time and time again, almost as if I am being harassed by them, requests to open a business, take orders, and more.
    I really appreciate it Mei, when you relate to us with struggles in common. Thank you so much ma'am...

    Im 2 years into developing a product that should be ready for sale this year. You used the perfect word "draining" in reference to the normal social media business activity. I have zero interest in that business model.
    Media outreach has been on my mind for some time. You've been the first to address it's benefits & connect it to my personality in a relatable way.
    Been following you for some time now. You've been help. Do you offer 1 on 1 business guidance. If so lmk how. Thanks.

    I was thinking about starting up my own Etsy and I was wondering if I wanted to focus on making food/animal plushies, when I sell them do I have to give credit to the person who came up with the pattern? Say I watched a tutorial on CZcams and made a cute pig plushie and decided to sell it on my Etsy. Would I have to credit the CZcams channel, if so how would I credit them on my Etsy?

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  Před 2 lety

      Hi Lupe! I think it's best to ask permission from the designer/pattern maker if it's okay to use his/her pattern for your products and it always wouldn't hurt giving credit to where credit is due. You can also check out the links below for some reference. All the best!! ❤️❤️

    Hi Mei, I'm am introvert who has been pondering on starting a small business for a while now. I have a question (more like two), and I apologize if you've answered this question in another video already, but it's something that's been boggling my mind. I have some designs that I would like to embroider on sweatshirts, and I want to sell them. The thing is, I don't want to risk having an inventory in case people don't want to buy my product. What would you do in that situation? I'm planning on creating videos/photos of the designs then sharing it online. If there's a good response then I'll start ordering sweatshirts to embroider on and sell to others. Would that work out fine? Is that how I can launch my products if I know people will be interested? I'm quite unsure right now, and I would greatly appreciate it if you gave me some advice/answered my questions. Please and thank you.

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Lel! Great questions! 💕💕
      To answer your questions:
      1. If it'll only take a couple days for you to finish 1 embroidered sweatshirt, you can make use of the made-to-order model. That way, you don't need to keep lots of inventory with you. Just make sure to properly communicate your turnaround time with your customers. For your turnaround time, it's better to overdeliver than to under promise.
      2. If your current audience is also your ideal customers, then I'd say that can be good idea but if your current audience is different from your ideal customers in mind, you might not get accurate findings. It would be best if you research your target market/niche/ideal customers first and see if there's a demand (and competition) for your products and if it's going to be profitable. If in your research you find that there's demand for your products in your target niche/market and it's going to be profitable, I'd say go for it.
      Good luck!! You got this!! ❤️❤️
