Oh wow, I didn't saw the super comment or whatever that's called. You are the first one ever to do that. That's extremely generous of you. Thanks a lot. You made my day XD
@@driesketels now that you mention it, I don't remember it either XD.
Great video, great insight :) I also believe calling yourself an artist is important and the first step to believe in yourself and establish your identity, getting where you want in life. I have a friend who loves to draw just like me (we're both 25). She does it quite well indeed, on a daily basis, and so do I. Once during a conversation she told me she couldn't possibly call herself an artist, because she is not famous or making art full time. Lastly she does not have a degree. She is just "someone who draws now and then". I, in the same position, told her how I HAVE to call my self an artist because that is a description of my life, my aspirations, my greatest interest, my life passion - why should I delimit my identity to just "someone who draws", it's absurd to me. Of course I am an artist! It makes me proud, and pushes me forward
Why would I limit myself to just 'someone who draws'. well said. You are a great influence to your friend Hannah, she can be happy to have you! Hope more people get to read your comment, some valuable insights!
Great video. My current work conditions are so horrible it sucks me dry. Low pay, distrust and constant (sexual) harassment from male coworkers. I get up 4 in the morning and come home complete exhausted, make dinner and basically collapse... Hat off for those artists who are able to juggle a full time job and creative endeavors. I truly wish success for everyone here.
That sounds horrible Diana. I hope you can find a way towards something you can enjoy more. Don't be afraid to call your coworkers out, nobody deserve sexual harassment type of things.
@@driesketels thank you so much for your concern. A friend actually called my boss behind my back about the situation, and it got much worse, they started yelling and threatening instead. The boss is sort of a a creep himself and doesn't care. Today I'm feeling miserable and scrolling through your videos to hear your soothing voice. It actually helps, I'm down with a fever and concerned about going to work in the morning. Anyway, thank you for reply, it warms my heart.

I like how you said, "This is part of the art journey." I needed to hear that.
It's all part of the journey. You got this!
“get the Hell out of here” makes me chuckle every time I finish another of your videos.
I’m a 70 year old artist that has been collecting art supplies since I took my first art class in high school. All these things I was going to be able to do when I retired. I think I had better get on that. Thanks for the inspiration.
Great Vid! You pumped me up🎉
Your videos have made a positive difference in my life and I want to make sure I put that out there. Thank you Dries
You are so welcome and thanks for letting me know that. Appreciated Matthew!

@@driesketels much respect Dries, love the channel man. Thanks 👊🏾
Faceless artist. Perfect!
Sincerely, you are the Les Brown, the Tony Robbins for the art world!
That's too big of a compliment but thanks XD
I'm unfortunately one of those extroverts that talks about himself too much XD. But i do feel motivated to FINALLY start my channel. Just a quick question: do you have a special hi powered laptop for your videos or do you feel a standard 500 euro laptop is enough for video editing?
I have a special high end custom build pc for video editing... But if you're just doing talking head video that is an overkill and a 500 dollar laptop would do the trick for another year or two max... If you're going to have several shots of you painting in 4k etc. Your 500 laptop is not going to be enough
ps: some extra advice, depending on where you live you might want to take a look at some of the 'special items' in very cheap regular grocery stores. Here in Europe we recently had a 'gaming laptop' in the ALDI, it's a regular grocery store and the laptop was priced at 999$. And for that price you simply couldn't find anything on the market with those specs. In pc stores you would've easily payed 1800$ for that type of laptop. I even considered buying it myself because it was so good for the price even though I have a very expensive custom build pc that I made myself so... If you are on a budget you might want to check those things out because you can get massive deals in those places.
hi amezing video bro
Thanks bro!
I’m sure we would have a great conversation even though I’m an extreme extrovert! 🤪❤️
hahaha, no offense intended Jenny. And I'm sure we would XD
I know hun! 🥰
