This is truly one of the most amazing vocal performances I have ever seen. I always knew of Sinead, and this song, but only relatively recently found this performance. I had never seen her live, but this was stunning. A true, true artist. You mention at the end enjoying seeing artsist that sometime play with the tension. I suggest checking out Japanese artist LiSA on the First Take. Homura especially, but also Gurenge or Unlasted. She does some pretty amazing things with tension and release. First Take has subtitles under the CC.

Other great performances would be Troy at the Dominion Theater, John I Love You on the Jon Stewart Show and Fire on Babylon from 2002(3?) live in Dublin. Great points on tension and mic choice.
She was at a place in her life at this moment where she could physically ,
intentionally end phrases with that ' vocal flip' at the end ... ( yodle squeek )
Think THIS performance has the most ... in one song ... So unique to her style ...
Does it make a difference what mic you choose to use on a sea-level super-dry cold night in Chile? Thats a very unusual setting. Speaking of the mic used vs a condenser you mentioned.
You want to use a condenser mic live in concert. Very difficult with a band lol. You can practice the techniques all you like it's good. But to sing like her you have practiced and now must not think you must just sing. She's not trying. She's not thinking about her pitch her tone let me do this technique, let me use a lilt here or glottal stop here, whisper here, vibrato here, belt here. She has no idea about anything your saying. Apparently none of these things ever affected her voice. Don't tell student to be careful. Most won't make it anyway. If you can blow out your voice for one song that the world loves and then you've accomplished your goal to make someone feel something.
