Dr Dan. Firstly, about that move of Lara moving towards the Orchestra and back... At this point (of the story) Lara's emotions took over...there was more to tell, so she had to muster courage to say it but say it more forcefully. That's all part of the brilliance of her performance because, guess what. When she returned to take up position, she had the attention of her audience too, exactly where they needed to be in her story. It's like "Hey, are you going to pay attention!" That is masterclass. Secondly, I need to thank you for saying she "reminds" you of someone else. I highly appreciate that because it's not about Who, but about What and How. I really like your reaction, so I will definitely check out more of yours on Lara Fabian.

Gigi did a great cover but I don't think there will be a female artist who can sound like the late Karen Carpenter. She has that unique, angelic voice. But I do appreciate that Gigi de Lana covered several songs of Karen Carpenter. It will, at least, keep Karen's memory alive. Thanks.

If you havent noticed most filipino singers/vocalists are very good in mimicking (not in a bad way) and the advantages in that is that they can acquire different styles,skills sometimes even the tone of different singers into their arsenal. Their last touch would be adding their "own" flavor/color/style to the song that would make it as good as the original if not better. It happens that a lot of filipino vocalists love classic singers such as whitney huoston, mariah carey,karen carpenters, barbarah streisand,regine velasquez,lea salonga etc. hence why sometimes when they sing you could hear different artists in just one song.

Hi, Dr. Dan, you should check Claire Dela Fuente the Filipina Karen Carpenter. So much so that Karen's brother Richard Carpenter gave a song for her. Please check Something In Your Eyes (Live). She sang it live and Richard was also there. We love the Carpenters here in the Philippines and their songs are a staple videoke / karaoke song here. ❤

This is the reason why I've always been saying Gigi is a genius!!! She has such a great ear that she can get the flavor of the original singer while still retaining her own Gigi sound. Since you have a great ear yourself Dr. Dan and a great gift for music, you have the capability to absorb the magic of Gigi's voice. The more one is capable the greater the enjoyment.
