Prescott Valley Apartment Complex Construction Fire, 4-1-2024

- UPDATE: There is a suspect now who has been tied to this fire and the fire/damage to the high school.
The construction fire started at 1:30am, and it would have been the tallest structure in the town at 5 stories high. Luckily nobody was hurt, and I really feel for the workers who are now out of a job. It was to be several hundred luxury apartments, at a cost of 60 million. It's a total loss. Embers from it were found on Hwy 89, 4 miles away. If it weren't raining, I don't even want to think of all the homes that could have caught fire from them. It could have wiped out half the town.

Glad no one was hurt. I hope they don't try to resurrect those plans again. 700 apartments is way too much. Imagine if they were all occupied. This story would have had a tragic ending.
It burned so badly because it wasn’t finished. When it get rebuilt and finished it’ll have sprinklers and fireproofing on the walls. Hope they rebuild, we really need housing here.

Generally speaking that's the current building code "ethics" for these huge complexes. Use cheap materials and don't include fire suppressants like firewalls or sprinklers. It could be disastrous for tenants, but such "ethics" maximizes profits for builders. And those profits are all that really matters, don't- cha-know.
new construction in my opinion is shoddy crap!!! only purpose is to suck as much cash out of the occupants!!!
