I’m not the only one that thinks that was a miss right? It’s off by several millimeters towards the track side. Mistakes happen, but ignoring it and not explaining why that happened is missing a great opportunity to help people not do that again. Great tool, great instruction, but a huge miss on explaining why it was a failure.

The only bad experience I’ve ever had with a Festool product was when I was routing on a guide rail with my OF 1400 and the collet and bit came out. Looking at the way that you support the guide rail adapter leads me to believe that I was not adequately supporting the router on to the guide rail.
Big D reminds me of myself and most amateurs who go weeks or months between using a tool again. “We are not slow learners. We are quick forgetters.”

I love how simple although deep your explainations are on how to set up the tools correctly (domino, router, track saw). I didn't do too bad the times I was using the guide rail for routing.
I always held the attachment to the guide rail like shown in this video.
I did some satisfactory work in doing so.
The off1400 is quite a good machine and the first festool I bought.

I used this setup to cut a beadboard look into MDF. It was for the back of a mud room locker where I didn’t want a thin panel

Just ordered this attachment for my 1400. Had one for my 2200 but found if trimming and edge where you cant use the support foot there was a bit of wobble. Hoping to use my 1400 with the chip catcher to trim the edge of some 20mm solid surface material. Hopefully the lighter 1400 wont wobble . Only other thing i can think of doing is building a support batten away from the edge to rest the support foot on, eliminating any wobble, but still allowing the chip catcher to be used.

Great info, thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. Related note: I need a 110" rail Festool rail. Noticed they have a new style, but the longest they make is 74". If portability is no concern, am I better with joining two 55" new style rail, or buying the old style full 110"?

Can you use this application to cut a mortice on an edge? For example to make a face frame or a table apron?
I would not use this method...I have used a parallel guide with stacked material to do mortises on an edge

I like to rabbet with a bearing rabbet bit...very simple and quick process....

I used the track. I put a dowel in middle of table. My track has a hole in the center near the top. I don’t remember drilling that hole but oh well. I used the guide stops and a limit stop for added hold. It worked ok.
Does the guide rail system happen to work with the Kreg guide track?

Yes, I use to use the OF1010 all the time with the LR32...but ..have switched to the OF1400
Sedge, I love your videos! I have looked everywhere for someone who has the OF 1400 in stock, and I can't find it. Is this router discontinued? Or is it being improved on by Festool and will be available soon?

@@kevinmccarty157 I can't comment on the availability in the U.S, but the OF 1400 EBQ-Plus is definitely available in Europe and is not discontinued.
They released a new version of it
Edit: I meant the OF1010 not the 1400, I miswrote.
From everything I've heard the 1400 is just having some kind of supply chain issues and they'll be available again in June/July. Most festool dealers will let you put your name down to reserve one. I managed to find one locally on Craigslist a month or two ago. It might have to do with the new rules on routers about the power switch safety, but I'm not sure.

I think Sedge showed in a few other videos how to do this as well. Techniques overlap.

If you look at his other hand it seems like he holds the machine down on the rail so it's in the correct position, then let's the scale slide as far down as it goes before tightening it. Took me a minute to figure out as well bit it's of course the simplest possible solution.

Feels excessively complicated for something like that? If you have any the kind of money for tools like this, then you probably have a pretty good router table that makes this easier. Especially on shorter pieces. Maybe if you’re doing this on really long pieces? I have a $20 baseplate adapter for my Dewalt hand held router which attaches to my Makita track and does a great job and has little to no complexity to setup.
Weird design from the normally brilliant Festool. The Milwaukee guide rail adapter has a much more elegant design. No weird half on half off the rail.

Nice video. Yet again I am pissed with Festool. Sledge you say the stops are included with your track saw. Well not here in Australia. I expect they will sell for a $100 or more. They are such an insidious ripoff company that simply price gouges.
