Where you live can make a difference. I live in Gloucester which is definitely not the most exciting place where one can take awesome photos. I still go out with my camera whenever I can just because I love taking photos. It is not always fun here, but photography keeps me alive and makes me feel less lonely. It is my antidepressant. It works for me, but for fun I would rather go somewhere else to take pictures.
I feel the same way on where you live. I like about 60 miles from NYC in a pretty big county but in the suburbs. I’ve taken the most pictures I can within my town that has an actual town not a drive through town, we have two cities within my county but I’ve already taken photos in those cities/towns. I regret not starting my photography journey when I went to college in NYC cause I would’ve gotten so much street photography down. But the summer and spring will be better since we have a bike trail that has amazing photos to take
Before moving to Gloucester for a job I lived in London for 6 years, but I did not have the same gear I have now. I wish I had gone out more often taken photos when I was living there. I have always had a passion for photography but since I moved to a much smaller place my passion has paradoxically grown. I guess it is because I used photography as a way to fight loneliness. I think if I were to visit your town I would probably find a lot of interesting things to photograph and vice versa if you were to visit Gloucester. A new place is always a creativity catalyst and makes you want to take more pics.
I know what you mean, I’m in the Midlands in a small town so not as exciting as Gloucester! I tend to get the train into Birmingham if I want architecture, street or documentary type photography.
I feel like you are describing the place I live in now and describing how I feel. I know there isn't any exciting subjects in the place where I live, but I still try to take photos just because I love the process.

That’s strange, I could name 20 or 30 easily.
As a retired architect, I find myself doing the same thing of connecting or placing objects and elements so they "work" to my eye.

Great video. Purely a hobby photographer I often wander out with just a point and shoot camera to keep things simple and enjoy just taking photos for me. Agree totally with the two points you made in the video.
Also hobby photographer. I take photos for me, to enjoy being out and creating . I also find it great mentally as you are in the moment and not thinking about other stuff as well as noticing the little details of life.
Making the most of your setting and seeing how creative you can get is always fun and challenges you to be better. Good stuff man!
Great video. It loked like you were in Rimini at the right time. The photographs were great. I liked the muted colors and the light was perfect like morning and evening light usually are. Good points towards the end, shoot for the place and what's in front of you. I spent most of my time at the coast, as it is the place most accessible to me. London is pretty close, and I love shooting there, but it's only really in the summer where the 'street skills' of busy crowds, etc. comes into play on the coast for me.
Yes, indeed. Today was a rainy/snowy lazy Sunday and I just went out in the yard, but I made it fun. I call it a "back yard challenge." I still enjoy the process -- getting a good exposure and focus -- and the challenge of creating compositions with the mundane material I have right in the yard. I probably did not take any Pulitzer Prize winner photographs today, and that is okay. I don't see it as a competition or a test. Just fun.

I think process is key- better said, essential on making photography fun, as well as wanting to thrive with it. Im someone who enjoys all technical terms & stuff; so for me personally its been always getting my Hasselblad camera and going out shooting and enjoying the process... yes its cliche to say that but when you implement zone system, N-1 N+2 development times and printing with an enlarger is just absolutely phenomenal. That it self for me is what makes photography fun for me, haha at the end we all have our different ways on making it fun. Great video Mike, Rimini seems to be a wonderful and chill place, road to 100K!💯

Really enjoyed this relaxing photo walk POV. I appreciate you supporting the notion that things out there in the world can be interesting and fun to shoot....even if there are no people in the shot! Taking the time to consider composition and use beautiful light makes the difference. Was this POV shot with a GoPro? I just started playing with shooting video using my phone. I'd like to find an editor that is way less complicated than something like Resolve. I don't want to get into color grading. I just want to put clips together, maybe ad some stills and titles and be done with it. Most of my videos will center around hiking. The one part of the process that makes me crazy, and it's going to initially sound silly, is getting the clips from the video device in the proper order to the editor. I don't know why I have a mental block about that, but I do! Thanks for taking us along on your walk. Have a great weekend!

7:46 this shot hurt my brain for a minute until I saw the trick.
I am a novice - using a phone for sound recording? Does that work well?
It was only to have better audio than what’s comes directly from the camera. (Although iPhone mic isn’t terrible at all)
You notice the audio in some other clips was trash? That was the camera audio.
I wasn’t very well prepared on the audio this morning 😂 I typically use proper mics

Hey, Those images are very similar to what I have done for 50 years, lucky only my family see them (and sneer at my efforts). Maybe my civil engineering background of geometric shapes has been an influence. People in my images are purely accidental.
Another tip: Buy a Leica.
