- In this video I show you how I rebuilt my JS550 engine top to bottom. I apologize for all of the edits I had to add, I was under a time crunch and wanted to make sure I filmed the process as promised. Please keep in mind, this is my interpretation of how this motor should be rebuilt. There are alternative ways to rebuild this motor.

Is that sealant you are using just as good or better than yamabond?
I am in the middle of rebuilding my 440 did you just wipe the engine with enamel reducer and how did you get all the gaskets off

What did you torque your head nuts to? And you said you torqued the crank bolt to 125 correct?
Just a FYI used the wrong pistons, you used reed engine pistons , piston port 550 engine pistons only use a single ring

How's your ski running? Did do anything to improve the cooling?

I just rebuilt mine and I can't get it to start. It cranks but instead of sucking air through the intake side it's sucking and blowing air out. Any ideas?
+Codie Galligan I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Can you elaborate?
It sounds like the ports are not matching up to the pistons somehow. Did you replace cyls or pistons? Perhaps a mismatch?

I dump fuel down the carb and then crank it and it seems to not be pulling air through like it should. It kinda spits up fuel through the carb
+Codie Galligan can't say I've ever experienced anything like that before. Make sure you're getting good spark and your low speed and high speed screws are set to factory specs. Also charge up the battery overnight and make sure you have no air leaks and she should run (not necessary well but it should run).

Sup bud good job, have you considered having yr fly wheel lightened and balanced? Or even a few degrees spark advance? it makes a huge difference on out of the hole power

Brian Roagers for spark advance do you just rotate the stator one way or the other? If so, what direction and how much?

just my opinion but i think you should of atleast built one of these engine before you put a video on you tube
+tjlee300zxtt I appreciate the feedback. One of the main reasons I uploaded my first build was because of the fact I couldn’t find any videos on CZcams that would help me with this rebuild project. All of my research had to be done on forums and reading the manual over and over so I figured even though it’s my first build maybe it would help someone.
