  • In today's video, we do a real world test of the 8-Watt Baofeng UV5-R Radio in Rugged Mountains. We cover the features of the product and everything that comes in the box. Spoiler alert - we were impressed with these radios and they worked very well within dense forest and varied terrain. The 3800 mAh battery will ensure we never have to worry about it dying while we are out in the backcountry. And the air duct headphone is so comfortable, we couldn't even feel it when we were wearing it. This is an 8-watt HAM radio that requires a Level 1 Technician License.

Thanks for sharing that key piece of information. The box and listing that I saw didn't say. To be honest, I was under the impression that these are the 5 watt gmrs model. The listings on Amazon show a bunch of the same model number being 8 watt. Seems like radios are a confusing subject overall and that's why I stick to my Rocky Talkies.
