"Song for Hannah " original with lyrics

- I wrote this song as a tribute to "Hannah Hauxwell " who lived an isolated and harsh life in the Yorkshire Dales. A documentary "Too long a winter" was made about her and she became well known.. Living on around 200 pounds a year with no running water or electricity she tended a small herd of cattle.
Despite being so poor she appreciated the beauty of nature and loved just looking at the moonlight on the water from her kitchen window.
Rohan is accompanying me on the cello and Spike playing the bongos ...

I stumbled recently upon Hannah. She was an angel sent to remind us of humanity. To be humble and grateful of the simple pleasures in life. She gave kindness and respect to her cow who gave her warmth and a drink of the warm milk when she had no heat. RIP dear Hannah..xx

My grandfather farmed until he was 85 years old. He did everything the hard way, did not have modern machinery and would not accept help .
He died in 1960 shortly after retiring from the farm. my grandmother said he felt he had nothing to live for after retiring

I am taking my laptop down to mums tomorrow and will ensure she listens to this. It is a great song and a very worthy tribute to this amazing woman. How simple was her life and she lived to a good old age in spite of the hardships she overcame on her farm.
Thank you. My own mother was very inspired by Hannah's outlook on life despite all the challenges that she had to face everyday just to survive. I hope your mum enjoys the song and maybe it will encourage people to reflect on all the things we take for granted.
Too bad we all can't be more like Hannah....She had a sweet, calm way about her, a true lady. She spoke softly but what she said was so poignant. She saw in just about everything the true meaning of that object. She had not been clouded by all that we have, all we see, all we do. The honesty was branding at times, but always true......I would have given just about anything to meet this lady before she passed. Maybe I'll see her one day................................ Thank you for this wonderful song which explains Hannah even without meeting her.

This song and the lyrics particularly are a stunning tribute to Hannah. Culturally and age wise I’m the total opposite of her but every few years I come back to YT to revisit her old videos. I can’t explain the pull I just know she is able to comfort me with her positivity and poetic view of life. Hannah was able to put things into perspective in such a simple and inspiring way. On her then uncertain future living still in extreme hardship but preferring to always focus on how rich she felt by being surrounded by her unforgiving but beautiful land and streams she mused “Whatever I am, wherever I am. This is me”. Brought tears to my eyes. So glad she was ‘discovered’ and so loved and happy in her final years 😌🤍

Hannah was a unique human being, untouched by the world as we know it. My gypsy friend knew her they met on the dales and Hannah instilled her with a newfound faith in God which has never left her.

Its beautiful song about a beautiful lady ..but Hannah hauxwell wasn't poor it was a lifestyle choice she was comfortable off when she sold the house and farm land..
She certainly seemed happy living a simple life close to nature, I wish I'd had the privelage of meeting her.
