ALL I can do is as a grown damn man is cry for her after watching her and her cow.. that broke her heart. Wonderful lady with gods hand she enters
i met this wonderfull woman in the early 1990s when i was a bairn i had my photo taken with her she was a lovely kind welcoming lady not a lass or a woman she was a true lady with so much heart and kindness society should live like hannah did we have nothing to complane for in reality we have heating ,electric ,water, baths ,showers, even a toilet etc etc etc yes covid is rife but that poor poor woman never complained of her hardships lonely on the farm for years we should all take note of hannah and be more like her.
forget internet , phones , pubs , clubs , cafes , etc etc just be gratefull for what we have society would be so much better.
god bless you hannah a true legend.
I grew up very close to where Hannah lived and truth is that she really wasn't interested in modern life and the trappings associated with it. After "Too long a Winter", she had electricity connected and all sorts of stuff; TV's and so on, sent to her. Most of these remained in their boxes and the residents of the dale used to say that Hannah only switched on the electric lights to make it easier to light the oil lamps. She wasn't the only dale resident to lead a similar lifestyle.
NATIONAL hero she never moaned or complained she just got on with her life people would cry if they had to go through Hannah did proper solid honest lovely lady r.ip Hannah
I have watched and read much about this amazing lady. She was so humble and still generous of spirit even though she never had the trappings of someone far richer financially. Yet she was richer is so many other ways, in compassion, in heart and in spirit. How could you not have wished this lady just the best she could have. She moved from her treasured family home and left her animals behind for others to look after so that they didn’t go to slaughter as she loved them so much. I can remember watching this when I was younger with my Nan when I was little and even then fascinated by Hannah. Ironically my Nan lived up north when she was a little girl and spoke with Hannah’s accent. Hannah reminds me of my Nan RIP Hannah hauxwell
What a gentle lady with a tender heart. Truly an amazing woman!
A beautiful old soul.hannah is in heaven.the sadness in her eyes when Hannah parted with her animals! I love Hannah.

When I read that Hannah passed on. Tears. When god looked in your heart he would've seen such love. Something we ourselves would strive for. Hannah, your filled to the brim with Such Goodness. ❤️
I wish to see her one day in heaven..... Great Lady....
She's an inspiration to so many people and the fact that she constantly remained Humble gives me encouragement to look at problems in my own life I may face differently. Such a shame that other farmers did not help her a little bit more.
I feel I should have met this great lady. What strength and love for the British meadows she has. Wish people knew the power of those meadows like this grand lady.
So lovely to see a real human being! When i see the comments below, there must be a wish to return to simplicity in all of us.

You can see she loved her animals and that she had great pain in parting with them. But she had struggled for so long. She needed a more comfortable life . She was right to go and live in a cottage This video is so moving. What a wonderful woman she was ! she never complained about her harsh conditions of living. She was such a gentle person. Bless her.
Thank you to my UK friend for introducing me to Hannah's story. A pricelss gift Glynis. Love stories of ordinary folk living not so easy lives.
What a rude comment below( penny bailey) this lady has worked hard all her life how she keeps her home is her business
She had a hard lonely life.. Not for us to judge but be kind.

May be she did not have enough space and she is so old. These people don't have a heart.
@@lindauribe6872 hi
How people judge others....I sooner have meet this incredible hardworking lady who lost all there family so young lived off next to no money, than someone so rude and no compassion!! Beautiful lady RIP...xx

I WILL WATCH HER AGAIN ~!!!
She probably had less stress due to the fact she wasnt crowded with neighbors or people.
She had neighbours closer by than the show implied - I grew up in the same dale and a mile or so away from where she lived.
So beautiful what a beautiful lady. It really touched my heart makes me really really wounder of the really lazy days were living in compared to that generation. It's getting very scary. We would never know what all hit us if it ever comes back to that day. It makes me really wounder and ponder of the day and times were living in. I really love and admire this wounderful lady love and respect her dearly. God love her!!! 🤗
I wish I could have helped her. I wish I had known her what a wonderful lady
Shereen Lawford you probably know loads of plain working class women.
I admired her greatly.I admire women like her and my Grandmother. At times I admired myself when I traveled through hard times.
I LOVE how her cows are walking with her and checking on her.

Amazing lady,
Hannah had such a beautiful soul....x
God bless Hannah Hauxwell xx her spirit will be in the Yorkshire dales forever xx
I wish my place look like that
What a lovely lady she was. May she Rest In Peace now after all her hard work
Why couldn't they have refurbished the farm for Hannah. Even a small section so she could live her life out in the dales she loved. Very sad to give her a shabby little cottage
Who is 'they'? They didn't give her the cottage. She sold the farm and bought the house, which was in a village in the Dales. She downsized, like a lot of people do.
Yes I agree ,I hear what your saying ,it would have been nice to have done that for Hannah ,it was her home ,but I feel deep down Hannah was lonely ,she was very very cut off from people? In those cold cold winters ,it's a tough one I know ,because I think ?,Hannah ostrich some of her sparkle, years on after moving ,bless her,I hope her ghost ,is roaming the dales ,a bit like wuthering heights ,when Kathy, done the same ,thing after her demise with the moors !!!

Lots of people enjoy solitude. I’m blind and live alone with my guide dog, some chickens and my veggie and fruit garden.
I’m never lonesome here. I only feel lonely in crowded places where there are strangers that I don’t know and won’t see again. I don’t know why anyone would want to live right beside other people! I’d hate having close neighbours. I like visiting with my family that I live dearly but I don’t want to meet strangers and I don’t know why anyone would. I love working on my little homestead at my own pace and doing exactly what I like. Moving into a town or apartment would be my nightmare.
Her cottage was only shabby because she’d lived with make-do-and-mend for so long she couldn’t throw anything out. It was in truth a great little place in a nice village.
There were no supermarkets or much in the way of packaging back in the day. For example we used to buy butter loose wrapped in paper, but later in life she’d accumulated stacks of yellow plastic butter spread tubs. If she’d grown up without want there’s little doubt she’d have been better able to keep her place nice, but that wasn’t her story.

Watching on COVID days @ 2020. She taught me how simple to live...sorry but where's her dog?
I wonder what happened to her doggie. What a beautiful & sad story.she will live again in perfect health on a farm if she wishes.
@Eloise Bush Why sad?
Again in perfect health.& on a farm if she wishes.
Books what books pleas explain
Hannah hauxwell with Barry cockcroft Hannah the complete story a special omnibus edition containing season's of my life and daughter of the dales.. and few more titles of books and dvds Innocent abroad and in America go on Amazon Larry you'll see all Hannah's works on there !
I suppose you know PB that ignorance is bliss!
Nice lady she reminds me of a Heartbeat character and not 'Greengrass'.
I didn't like when the interviwer told Hannah she was not good at throwing things out. Of course she wasn't, she lived alone for many years, with no motivation at all, there are things that last forever

What an awful & shallow comment I don't think you could endure her life just by your comment your to soft
she is / what she is/ she had very hard life/ and she kept her old things to help her through hard days/ don't judge her so hard/ but love her as much.as she loves people.
Yet her lovely nature will forever eclipse your narrow minded bitterness .
Penny Bailey what a spiteful comment! I suppose she hasn't got a flash car and a posh house. What a snob YOU are!
