Loving this build 💪🏻
1600 / 40hrs is 40 weeks. Pretty impressive time frame in my opinion. From first tube cut to out the door, that’s damn impressive.
Loving the build too,
Cheers 🍻🍻🇦🇺
You should make bullhorns for is new setup
@cjracecars most couldn’t wrap their heads around the fact that when you break it down into an hourly perspective and the skill that goes into this that’s ACTUALLY “not a lot of money”
@@Aaron_Hanson multiple employees help out on it so factor that in.
Great build and congrats on finally getting some more subs and well deserved attention Cam.
@@hanktownsend7911 Quality fabrication skills are priceless. Its truly an art.
Not many folks willing to get straight to the point on the time and cost involved in doing a project like these. Kudos!
Yup, I can never understand why some companies are always so vague about prices.
Same if you want to buy something on-line.
The amount of hoops you need to jump through to get an idea of the costs are ridiculous.
Exactly what I said awesome vid
@@likilikiki I can explain.. People who are building these cars dont have to ask "how much?". They just ask "when can it be done?". The amount of people who email or call companies asking for a price, 99% of them can't afford it.
@@likilikiki So they can have additional costs after the fact, and so they can charge people whatever they want per car. They do it to kind of cover their ass in a way, but also to make more money.
Swanstrom did
1600 hrs in labor alone is massive. Really puts into perspective exactly how "specialty" these cars are.
Agree. Don’t think most realize just how much goes into them.
Completely forgot the title of the video because an add was playing when I read this. My mind said “ain’t no way someone’s surviving 1600 hours of labor. Maybe he meant 16…? But even that’s fatal.” Then the video started playing and it hit me that you where talking about these cars being built and shop labor hours
And if you have a wreck north of 240 mph you'll be DAMN glad you paid for the absolute best
So half million dollars complete
@@tylervaughn6328not quite complete lol
Audio is much better gang, appreciate the effort for our viewing
We are trying to make it the best we can 💪🏻
@@CJRaceCars Quality is better but the levels need some work - the commentary is super quiet, the cars in the opening are super loud, and everything else is in between. Look forward to the next video!
Like He was in the same room as us. Perfect!!!
probably should move the mic up your shirt a bit
@eliotmansfield I mean, maybe yea, but it sounds good at a good volume
Easy to see why Tye is such a rock star on the Cleetus channel, this shop is meticulous and creative.
Wldnt take ty 1600hrs to fab a tube chassis together tho either. dude does 12hr jobs in 3hrs like the rest of us Gotta enjoy the per diem rates tho, paid OT but home by lunch.
He told cleetus it would take him a year to build this car by himself. @@hyprjay
@@chucksherron yea, if he ordered the cad specs from china lmaooo it's a 2 week process fora stress tested simulated chassis and then it's purely fab time. I build mega trucks, I've built 34 full tube chassis in the past 4 yrs. Longest one was the rip off steamboat that took 30ish hrs to complete, and easily 8hrs were on the meritor to 20ton planet hubs. Lmao oh and wiring takes about 6-8hrs tops. That's including term x max with smart tech ecu's and push button 4 wheel drive lock. Currently under a 83 k20 on 18.4 rices cause keep snapping left rear axles. Just saying, no chance I cld justify 1000hrs unless u count me sleeping lmao
@@hyprjaythese fabricators are probably a few orders of magnitude more skilled then you. I doubt you’re fabbing 1/4 of a million peices
@@hyprjaystay in your place. Or show us some videos
Mega respect for just being upfront and saying how much it really costs. So many people beat around the bush,.
From what I’ve found out they do that because they can change what they charge whatever they want. These guys seem extremely straight forward. No one is like this. Sandrail shops trophy truck shops pretty much any shop. They hook there homies up for cheap and charge normal people like me and you double the price to make up for the people they hook up.
It’s a million dollar hobby to start. Car, tow vehicle, trailer, spare parts and all the other things you need. Could easily jump to 1.5-$2 million depending on toter homes and stacker trailer.
If someone is avoiding telling you the out the door cost for anything they’re trying to sell you, they’re either actively screwing you or reserving the right to later on down the line. Either way, they’re not looking out for you and you should take your business elsewhere.
@@mcb0b1 I mean it can be, you don't need to spend this kinda money to go fast and have fun. This is just the tip of the spork of the hobby.
@@nateemmett4485 absolutely. I think we were just assuming the costs to be competitive in this sport. If you are looking to just have fun you are buying a used car and not spending $400k on a new car.
I knew this stuff would be expensive but about $500k all said and done is eye watering. Luckily we are able to live vicariously through ol Cleet. Millions of people will know this car inside and outside as if it were their own
The new Lamborghini Revuelto starts at $700,000 and ol eagle would smoke it! Sounds like a bargain to me. Lol
@@iancunningham485only in a straight line and it’s not fully furnished. Not that this isn’t highly engineered but I’d imagine designing something for drag racing would be easier.
A retro mod cost around the price and a race car is faster 😂
@@13illyxmazeYou'll end up being surprised. Controlling multiple times the horsepower of anything that turns corners is much harder than you think.
@@bradcraig5111 not sure what you are talking about sorry
I’m subbing for 1) Cleetus’ build and 2) because this guy shoots straight with no BS. Which is rare these days. No click bait, just honest and to the point. I have no idea how to fab or weld but I couldn’t watch videos like these all day!
Thanks for the sub.
Cleetus brought me here, and now im hooked.
Let’s gooo 💪🏻
Same with Steve Morris and Dr Tune ‘em All and Starr Creations… lmmfao
Same here. Started from cleets car being built. But now can't leave. Lol
I'm Definitely hooked on all the fab and info.
Such a killer shop.
Cleet moves the needle! He literally got Steve Morris 200k subscribers within a 48hr period.
Came as a cleetus fan. Staying as a CJRacecars fan. Going over the back catalogue of videos when I'm nightshift
Respect. Nothing to hide. Most people never talk about price.
People who take pride in their work and know their stuff have no reason to dance around the price.
“We’ll do it right, and we’ll do it right the first time - this is how much that will cost” is the best way to do business. Shop your customers. 👍🏻
@@Christopher_R ok sure
I believe this is the only channel I’ve watched (now multiple) videos where they’re up front about labor and costs associated with these builds. Thanks for being transparent, it really is interesting and informative. 👍
So much respect for someone to come out and no nonsense talk facts and figures. No-one does this and you have earned and will keep me as a subscriber.
Thanks for the sub.
Shops here in the SF Bay, CA charge $250-300/hr for mostly bondo and some sheet metal work. $140/hr for a top-down racing frame may seem insanely cheap, but I also don't see any race shops here in the bay working with much Aluminum, let alone 1600 hours building 4130 chromoly tubing/titanium race cars...without a doubt, hats off to CJRC.
The actual chassis is 4130 Chrome Moly tubing that has to pass SFI certification. 4-link bars, control arms, pedals, and many more trinkets are Titanium but not the frame.
@@troy-from-cjrc Thank you Troy!
That's got to be the first "what it costs" video I've watched that actually talked about what it cost! That was refreshing. Thank you for going over and sharing that! Damn you build some nice cars, wish I could work in your shop.
Brother, those are some of the cleanest welds I've ever seen. When you were zooming in at first in the intro I couldn't even tell it was welded until you got closer.
Props for giving a ballpark price and got to admit, I was expecting it to be more. Basically $500k for a totally custom car, build to the highest standards and out of the best materials, no wonder your garage is full of work! People spend way more than that on basically forecourt cars, which anyone can own. When I win the lottery, you’ll be getting a big box from the UK with Ford Capri body panels, to build me a carbon and titanium beauty 😊
I am so happy for cleeter and the gang that he has come so far to be able to do this. That dude is living the racers dream. I’m a dirt track guy and this kind of stuff is way cooler to see behind the scene
I mean the man just bought an airport, I think he can swing that price 😂. I've watched cleet since his first video proud of what he's accomplished for the motorsports community.
He’s definitely grown a hugeeee brand.
Airport, racetrack, helicopter, wo many engines and transmissions. And now he's going to build a new house. I hope he's making his buddies filthy rich. Depressing
@@OttoByOgraffeyThe 1320 channel just did a feature video on him . Towards the he said one of his business goals is to keep doing better so he can pay his guys more. He said something to the effect that he wanted to help them make their dreams come true.
@@OttoByOgraffey considering everyone in the crew has new vehicles, drag cars, and tons of other project, I’m sure Cletus is paying them quite well.
The crew is definitely getting paid.. they're a happy bunch
Tye literally said it would take him a year on his own, great insight into how much work is involved
He estimated pretty right too!...1600 hours is 10 weeks(nearly 1/4 year) of 4 guys doing 40 hour weeks
I appreciate the transparency I've always wondered but felt it taboo to ask as most everyone don't like to talk money. I have even more appreciation to the craft now , thanks.
When I was in school for Collision repair and painting, I also took a "High Performance Fabrication" class. On the mechanics side of the school, they offered a "High Performance Engines" class. They didn't allow us to take the other class unless we did the whole year long mechanics course, which would double our time at the school, but what y'all do is exactly what I had in mind when I wanted to take both of them. I currently just paint cars, because I can't weld for shit XD. So I am in awe of teams like y'all that make these cars from scratch. INSANE work.
Audio loads better, thanks for addressing that
Glad yall got the microphones!!!! Audio is a lot better!!
Wow!! True craftsmanship!! Congrats on the outstanding job!!👏👏👏👏
I like the building more than the racing. Definitely watching all your videos.

Thanks for being real and open about it. That’s what I always wonder is how much it all costs.

Well presented, professional and on point - love the shop and the Willys build.
Good stuff! We've had the opportunity to build 2 steel bodied Willys. 1 pro street ,1 gasser. Glad to hear the respect for those really cool and rare pieces of History.....
Cleet's car is going to be so, so dope...but honestly, I hope I see more of that Hemi Willys' Americar, God they're so sexy and iconic, and that paint is going to absolutely kill on that thing 🥵👌
I found this fascinating, as someone who isnt technically minded it gave me a good insight without going over my head. Looking forward to further progress.

As many, I found about you guys through Cleetus. I've been loving your content so far, you seem profesional, down to earth and straight to the point.
As someone who wants to learn to weld so i can make custom mounts and whatnot for cars, this is inspiring.
Great video and very informational. Thanks for keeping it straight. This is the type of thing we need in this world!
Quality of the sound, video and content went up and we appreciate that 👍

Great video!
Top notch craftsmanship!
It would be golden if CJRC hits 100k before Swanstrom! 🤣
You guys are amazing! I Cannot wait to see this car done!
thats some beautiful welding
225k is nuts for a roller but what people don't realize is how expensive titanium is and how many feet of bar is needed for something like that. What kind of weight difference there is between the same chassis setup in Steele vs the titanium and how that will effect overall times. This car is going to be so much lighter than mullet yet way stiffer. Fantastic work I wish I could afford something like that.
Cameron continues to impress, straight to the point about what it cost. Yall do amazing work, and it shows in how yalls cars preform
I've dreammed about working in a shop like this since I was a kid. I chose a different path in life but I have such a huge appreciation for those of you who build and create such amazing hotrods. Hats off for sharing this. I'm a huge cleeter fan and now a big fan of y'all as well. Keep up the killer work!
I remember a friend wanted a full tube roller and it was $40,000 in the 90’s for a Firebird.
Things have changed!
Regardless, as You’d said, If You want to go fast, that’s the price. STELLAR work! Thanks for sharing this with us.
40k in 1990 was almost 100k in today's money so still a decent chunk of change. But ye everything has definitely got more expensive
@@yota8325 For sure! I had a Mustang built in the mid 90’s with a back half, 14 point cage, glass nose/doors and trunk fitted for $13,500. Good to 7.50. I thought THAR was a lot! lol!
As a complete normie, appreciate all the insight into building a chassis. Just pure craftsmanship, no cutting corners
Great info on chassis building...thanks for sharing...
Thanks for the info..You guys really do top notch work. Many people think building a competitive car might cost a third of that at most. It's really eye opening. And I agree, I'm just a restorer of classic cars (C1 and C2 corvettes) and parts costs are through the roof!
Happy to see it could still do a big tire later if he ever decided to. I'd love to see this as a quasi-tom bailey style car.
Cheap ain't fast and going fast ain't cheap. Beautiful work guys!
So many nasty cars come out of CJR. You guys really kill the game.
