  • Barundus and I finally take to the skies with a pair of Kiowa's and demonstrate the basics of SWT tactics in a low-intensity COIN environment.
    Special Thanks to Polychop simulation for letting us use the module for demonstration purposes.

      Thanks dudes! That was cool and informative. Reminded me of a story I heard from an Apache pilot. They’d see guys possibly setting up IED’s in a drainage ditch or somewhere on the road, they’d fly by, the guys on the ground would wave, pilots wave back, helo heads off, the IED work continues, the pilots watch from a distance and light em up! Rad to see how the pros do it 🇺🇸
      (Next time please turn on a name beacon or dot, hard to see ya on my phone)
      Thx!!!

    This was an amazing video. When I look for DCS videos I try and find content like this because let's face it, "how to start your airplane" has been done a million times. This kind of insight helps make more realistic missions.
    As I was watching this I kept thinking how I could script the events into the ME. While I don't think we could do the wind blown tarp, it is certainly possible to script in people on foot acting squirrely when a helicopter is nearby (and then going back to their nefarious business when you leave).
    Thanks for sharing and I look forward to more stuff like this.

    • @CasmoTV
      @CasmoTV  Před 3 lety +1

      Not a lot of utility in the DCS environment. Understand that we have a different perspective and experience. If you were to ask how important the M4 is to a KW guy prior to 2003, for example, you might get a very different answer. Additionally there are some technology restrictions that keep the M4 from being a viable player experience in DCS, from what I gather. Thanks for watching!

      @CasmoTV  Před 4 lety +5

      It’s hard to say what’s complete only cause I haven’t delved too deep into the systems. Don’t lose sleep over the flight model. There are a dozen KW pilots providing feedback on what feels right and wrong. Barundus alone has 5,000 hours of flight time... he’s not gonna let it look like crap.

      @@CasmoTV thanks a lot for the answer, concerning the FM I'm basing my fears, whether it is justified or not, on the gazelle. To me, this helo feels very weird to fly but there is also such a debate on if it is accurate or not, some pilots say it is some not, polychop says it is yet they are going to release a new FM, I've seen some compelling arguments hinting that the FM has issues. In the end I don't even know how to feel about flying this module since I'm straight up having a hard time with it and I don't even know if it's realistic.

      @CasmoTV  Před 4 lety +5

      No drama. I know a few gazelle guys and they say it’s actually pretty accurate but admit there are a few issues such as the upside whatever that occurred. Idk, never flown it. I think sometimes simulators can get all the things right but there are loop holes that can be exploited if you “fly the aircraft wrong”.

    • @CasmoTV
      @CasmoTV  Před 4 lety +1

      While I agree the scratches modeled are excessive it has round abouts zero to do with items on the dash. The windshield is quite a ways away from any of those items. Not related at all.

    • @scarletlightning565
      @scarletlightning565 Před 3 lety

      In IRL civilian aircraft, putting random things on the dash can screw with the whiskey compass and lead to nav errors. Not sure if that's also a concern for military aircraft, but I would imagine you wouldn't put things up there anyway unless properly secured for FOD reasons.
      As for the scratches, the windows are perspex which can scratch quite easily. Say you're in a desert, the aircraft is covered in sand and you blast it with a hose, or worse try to wipe it off with a dry cloth. BAD day
