i am a low spender , and i can outdmg high reso players in worldboss events! but in the end its way to hard to even upgrade 2 star gems! i would like to make build with 2 star gems but it will take ages! and BSJ is also a must have witch is really really costly!
they defentily have to change the 2 star gems or need to hand out more resources! even the new rune/emblem system is not really good in my opion
and its also still bugged, if you look at the spark limit 280 its written with or without emblem! but you only recieve 8 sparks witch you would also get without using them! so you cant even cut time with emblems! there are just useless 60 for 3x2 star gems is just to much
so yeah its cool and okay to use smaller gems! but we also dont have 5 star gems on hand to upgrade our low gems! 1 star gems are possible! but 2 stars after level 5 are ridiculus

This guy is a legend for figuring all of this out just from in-game testing. One question I would have liked to ask with the modifiers section is "with the 4 categories (general, legends, effects, combat rating), is it best to focus on getting as many of these bonuses as you can as they seem to be multiplicative, versus going for like higher reso, or higher rank tourmalines for example." Like aside from the obvious things like +4000 base damage in paragon trees, is the best idea to dip into as many modifiers as possible and balance these out to get a bigger multiplier in each of the 4 categories? I used to think it was better to drop combat rating a little to pick up like a 15% damage boost from 2 piece gloom set for example. But I see set bonuses are just a small part of the "general" modifier. So would this mean if you're not maxed out on combat rating bonus, it IS still better to wear your top cr gear that might only give you like an additional 3% dmg boost over your build that keeps a 15% set damage boost, because combat rating is its own multiplicative modifier?
Obviously, this is the point of the calculator, but I mean without comparing...what's the main take-away from this? What key things should players focus on to maximize damage output?

Awakening gives me from many slots, more uptime of casting disintegrate = more time using higher Effective_damage vs having to use primary attack that has a lower damage

as a side note... and an epic one at that.... As of this past weekend i officially awakened my 6th 5/5 gem! I have BSJ, Chipstone, Bottle Hope, Echo, Seeping Bile, and Howlers all 5/5 rank 10 finally! almost have my Phoenix rank 10 also :)

At the very beginning, I thought to myself - WOW these two star gems give a lot of damage. Sure I’ll have lower resonance, but the cost/benefit ratio is higher.
But I followed the hype and went w/ 5 star gems by saving platinum. And to be honest, I’m never going to get one of them past rank 4. Just too expensive.
I’ve made a horrible, horrible mistake.

for example ill change my b.eye to zwenson hunting rank 3 3/5* to get more resonance? is this good?

One star dmg gems do more dmg and is worth more then reso in pve
the truth is that it is pure general knowledge, I expected a real formula, no explanation of what the game itself gives me, and someone has information from the hierarchy of reductions and killers, thanks to the hierarchy in the damage formula)
So there is no point in grinding for higher combat rating aslo g as your at or above the rating of the hell or area your rating in.
you do get a bit more damage and damage resistance from having higher than required cr in your hell difficulty, but this bonus is not that high and require a lot of bonus cr, as well as it's capped at deal 11% more & take 10% less

What do you mean?
Try to use a critical hit based skill like firestorm. Wind and fire = critical hits with that which increase damage assuming your trying to get more than a few thousand damage at a time
he means how one can have e.g. 13000 damage but only e.g. 11000 cr , either pay more or play less, by paying more your damage will increase from much higher reso/normal gems while cr will not increase as much, by playing less you will increase your damage with paragon/weekly normal gems while cr will remain around the same, playing less means being 20~50 levels below the server level and not doing stuff like daily 3 dungeons

That was legit. Besides awakening, there are also the gem resonance bonuses that most will never see unless they stick to 1/2* gems., which can add a fair amount of additional damage. Also, using 1/2* means you will see the benefits of all 10 ranks a lot quicker than someone who uses even a 5* damage gem that would see the same 24% max damage boost. As pvp has new modes, and hopefully some balance added, there will be even more incentive to stick to 1/2*.

Haven’t watched whole video yet but for dh Carsens directly translates to +dmg. Best gem with bezerkers eye, BSJ and bloody reach by far for dh
