- I PICKED THIS GUITAR UP AS A "STUPID DEAL OF THE DAY". THE US MADE G AND L GUITARS HAVE A GREAT REP, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE MORE AFFORDABLE TRIBUTE SERIES? TO FIND OUT, I PLAYED ALL PICKUP POSITIONS CLEAN AND DIRTY. I THRASHED THIS THING LIKE A RED-HEADED MULE, OR WHATEVER THAT OLD SAYING IS! SPOILER ALERT: I LIKE IT A LOT.

It is best review on this guitar!
Well I got her and could not be happier. Thank you again.
Glad to hear it, Gerry!
Thanks, good demo!
Nice review! Irish Ale is a very nice colour. I have a USA Legacy in ruby red but I'm thinking of a surf green tribute for gigging. They sound real good. But I'm also thinking of their new Doheny line
Haven't tried a Doheny, but I have a couple ASATs and they are great. G and L makes good stuff!
Well ya sold me. I have a chance to buy one. Used if I,m not to late. Let ya know. Thanks for a great rview. Plus your a very good player.
Thanks, and I think you’ll be very happy with your purchase! I have been, anyway.
Cool look and sound!
I'm liking it so far!
Thanks, I saw another review but it was a fullerton model made in USA the review was by premiere guitar with John Bollinger who as you probably know is a great guitarist. the tremolo system is the same though I believe. He was also playing the Doheny. Jazzmaster version. and the tuning came back perfect after tremolo use. there was no editing. Those guitars are plek'd also. I don't think the indionesian made ones are but I'm not spending 1500 any way. I'm interested in this model. My concern is the tremolo though because I'm not a tremolo guy either but in my older years i want one and don't want to have to have to mess with paying for a set up. i do have basic knowledge and know how to intonate a guitar. thanks for the review. Let us know if you figure out why it's coming back sharp. My guess is the springs are a bit to tight if it is coming back sharp. Easy adjustment under that back plate. Just loosen those two screws a quarter turn on that block and try again until you get it. Sounds like it is very close already.
Thanks for this response! I think I will take this guitar in for a setup from someone who knows trem systems better than I do. It would be cool to have at least one guitar with a usable floating trem. I'll report back after that.
MY NAME IS JOHN FM.PGH,PA. AND I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP WITH THE GUITAR 🎸😅😊
Thanks John!
I bought the same guitar from musicians friend as stupid deal of the day. It's great!
I check that Stupid Deal every day. Sometimes it’s pretty good!
how it sound compare to fender mexico?
what effect you use in order it can sound straty in clean as in this video?
I mostly just turned off the distortion on my little practice amp, and added some reverb. This guitar has low output alnico single coil pickups, so clean sounds are really what it does best.
@@barthydemusic what amp you use?
For that video I used a cheap Crate practice amp called a GFX15. It’s the only amp I have here at the house that isn’t too loud to talk over! And it sounds pretty good. I’m working on improving the sound of my videos, though, so I’ll probably end up using something different.
I think the fretboard radius is 9" as opposed to 9.5 " of most Fenders.
According to Sweetwater the radius is 12".
They are 12 now.
When you play on clean tone the base should be off?
For my taste the bass usually needs to rolled off when you have a dirty tone, especially if the dirt is coming from a cranked tube amp rather than a pedal
I have a G&L legacy and love the sound of the guitar, but it weighs 10 pounds, a back breaker, at least for me, I love G&Ls and the quality is awesome.
Mine is a little on the heavy side as well. I tend to feel better playing a guitar in the 7 pound range these days.
Allison?
Funny what comes out when you’re noodling. We’re learning Alison in the Weatherheads, so I guess it’s on my mind. I love the guitar on that song!
Blackie was legendary and a parts mutt
SRV number 1 was a parts mutt
EVH frankie a parts mutt.
You dont need big money to become a legend. You need talent and that is God given and made better thru practice.
A custom shop 6k dollar guitar wont make you better or write hit songs.
Amen and the truth, a good guitarist can make anything good.
After your comment about the G string going sharp I recalled seeing this clip:czcams.com/video/6TvcWe4q_IM/video.html
Wow, very informative video! I really am an idiot where trees are concerned, but this looks doable. Thanks!
