    1. Every child learns differently. 2. Sunday school/ Children's church can be helpful and a blessing. 3. Parents are responsible for training their children. If Parents were faithful to church and bringing their children to church, as well as, living a Christian life outside of the church; I truly believe, we all would see a difference.

All true but the outcomes to date are dreadful. That’s what this is discussing. No doubt SS is a sincere attempt to build a foundation on Christ. But some leaders are not “called” as teachers and in some cases keep house. These times we live in are desperate times and the falling away is prophesied! Pray pray pray!

It's not Sunday School that's failing these children, it's the parents. If the parents are not living Godly lives in the home as well as away from home, the children witness it and are not persuaded to believe that believing in Jesus Christ makes any difference whatsoever. Why would they want to give their time, energy, and money to a church and a God that appears to be unable to change lives and apparently loves unconditionally and is indifferent toward our sin. Jesus Christ must be first in our lives, in our homes, and in every single aspect of our lives if we expect our children to desire Him to be first in their lives, period. Christ is all, and in all. The New Age movement is a cult. Believing in evolution is a lie. Believing that all religions are the same and that therefore everyone goes to heaven is also a lie. Yes, there are many cults, false religions and deceptions in this world but the truth never changes. That’s why Jesus tells us in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Of course, what Jesus teaches isn’t popular but what is popular isn’t always right and what is right isn’t always popular. Only when you realize how massive the deception really is can you open your heart to the truth. Only when you realize that your secular science books are full of lies and that the media is full of propaganda can you ever have the humility and courage to turn to Jesus. No. We need to be honest, approachable and trustworthy parents. Our children WILL be exposed to the world, that's where God put us. They need to be disturbed, as we do, enough to cry out to the loving God WE have taught them about and seek out what He would have them DO with and in the messed up world that so needs pure children of faith in Christ. If we lead well, they will not fall utterly, because it won't just be us they are stayed upon. They will have unshakable faith in the face of the unthinkable.

Teach them the gospel and christian values first and foremost. Teach them that the world is different than us and use scripture. Then put measures in place so they don’t wander from that. If they choose to wander as an adult, that is their choice and you cannot do anything about that except pray at that point. But when they are children, if you are purposely exposing children to the wickedness of the world, that is wrong. Plant a flower with fertilizer, diet, water and sunshine to grow. Not weeds and darkness just because they may encounter a weed and a shadow from time to time.

The younger kids had puppet shows and games for sure, and were even encouraged to give "tithes and offerings". It was all designed to keep them entertained rather than teach any meaningful truths.
Of course, they also taught that God made cavemen and dinosaurs billions of years BEFORE Genesis 1:1 and that He had to erase everything and start over with Adam. As if God was so weak and stupid to do anything like a "trial run" in the first place.

I had wonderful experiences in Sunday School, however, by the time I was a young adult, the curriculum had been "dumbed down" and visuals looked like cartoon figures instead of the beautiful "real people" pictures/flannel graph of days past. We learned memory verses and the Gospel from an early age. And children were expected to sit quietly in church service at around 7 years old, when they aged out of Junior Church. The thing I remember is worship time where we learned Gospel songs verses. We called it "Opening Exercises" and all of the children gathered for this with prayer and singing. I treasure these memories to this day and feel my own children and grandchildren have missed out on these very important and concentrated gospel sessions we called Sunday School. It is worship content, organization, and focused "real"memory work, prayer and applicable Bible teaching that is missing today. I am amazed at some mainline Churches wandering off into allegorizing Genesis and Revelation. This is what is destroying the future generations. If the Church doesn't believe in the literal WORD, why should they?

They survey mentioned here is very misleading. The real reason is this .. Parents who do not live and teach Biblical principles to their children at home and in their daily lives. Yes this was briefly mentioned later in Ken's video, but he continues to blame the SS for the problem. Second, is the culture in America is more and more secular and anti-Biblical - we see this in modern music, video games, movies, school curriculum and even government. It appears Ken is using a straw man argument with his survey to promote his book and his curriculum. Now maybe Ken's book and curriculum are good materials - if so, just promote them on their own merits.

Sunday School (or at least, children's Sunday School) and most of the church's kids' programs unfortunately only entertain kids and keep them immature. My parents wisely kept us with them in church instead of sending us to age-segregated programs, plus they did Bible reading and prayer and memorization at home with us as we grew up, and we have clearly noticed the results: my siblings and I, who are all in our 20s, are all strong Christians and faithful in church, whereas most of our our peers who did traditional Sunday School and VBS and such things are not. I've actually done some research into the bad effect that age-segregation and kids' fun-and-games in church has done to our generation. I thought about writing a book on the topic. I still might!

Willow Creek destroyed Sunday School when their style of entertainment rather than actual teaching became popular back in the early 2000s. Their argument was that loud, media based curricula that could be run by any adult was needed because it was so hard to find committed teachers. That destroyed any relationship with adult believers outside of the parents, and destroyed children's interest in what was being taught. Prior to that, I taught in a church that had the same teacher for the whole year and we used the David C. Cook curricula that was actually educational. The classes were all separated by grade which kept them small, manageable, and relevant to their age. We were more equivalent to a child small group Bible study than what goes on today. My current church thinks they have a good program, but they don't... it's basically just drop-in daycare for the parents.

When I grew up, we were in the warship with our parents and then we separated so we had our teaching at the same time the adults had theirs - the adult teaching happens to be called the sermon, usually.
God doesn't have grandchildren. Kids should be taught how to pray and how to operate in the gifts of the Spirit - and how to grow in the fruit of the Spirit, in an age-appropriate way. Some of the most incredible ministry time is when kids pray for adults - and not for stuff that is age inappropriate, please don't misunderstand me there. Families should be encouraged to talk about God in the home, so it's not just left to the Sunday school teachers to do the spiritual stuff. Kids are as much the church of today as the adults are.
Teaching has absolutely got to be more in-depth than colouring a few pages and hearing some watered-down Bible story - my dad tells me of a Sunday school lesson when he was a boy, at a time when the girls and boys had their lessons separately although in the same room. He can't remember what the boys were being taught, but the girls' lesson was on the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which was much more exciting and interesting. He would have been somewhere between 8 and 10 at the time - kids can absolutely understand some of the deep things of God at a very young age if they're given half a chance to. I was very young (four or five) when I asked 'How does Jesus fit in my heart?' A pause then, 'Is it the Holy Spirit really?'
Teach kids, in age-appropriate language, the fundamental truths of God and let them ask questions. That's how they will put down deep deep roots, not by the shallow things like colouring in and PC language. Kids know when people are being hypocritical and they will instinctively reject that - and if they reject God and the church too, that should grieve us all so deeply.
_Train_ up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)
People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, 'Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.' And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. Funny how at the same time, suicide and other deaths of despair have increased dramatically, especially among young people who are less likely to be religious.
Let’s also remember that religious people are more likely to donate to charity (any charity) or volunteer their time. Proven by statistics. Religious people also have a greater sense of community than non religious people, and when controlled for all variables live on average 3-5 years longer.
So under what circumstances would you say we have gotten better with less religion? Is there less war? Probably not, as it seems Putin/Ukraine and China/Taiwan don’t involve religion. Neither do many of the disputes around the world. Of those that do, it’s not clear if you removed religion the conflict would stop. Many of different religions are in different countries/ethnicities anyways. Humans love to be tribalistic even without religion. Is what Jesus taught offensive or bad or wrong? How is “science” (more like humanism) better?

May I kindly recommend LESSONS FOR LIFE, written by Jill Masters. Widely available in the USA, and many other countries. Translated into many other languages also.
It’s a series of 4 books, with lessons for a four year cycle that can be repeated over and over, as there is enough content to adapt the lessons for different age groups, ranging from 4-16 years. All lessons are evangelistic, and include Christian apologetics where appropriate.
Jill Masters is the wife of Dr. Peter Masters, who is the pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London (CH Spurgeon’s) since 1970.
I had the privilege of teaching in their evangelistic outreach Sunday School (which reaches hundreds of children in London) for almost 8 years, and witnessed children and teenagers being converted, and whole families starting to go to church because of the lessons their children were receiving.
My husband and I were sent by the Metropolitan Tabernacle to plant a church in São Paulo, Brasil, and we have been using the Portuguese version of Lessons for Life in our church for 10 years now.

This will assure their heavenly destination, and help them when their doubts mount. The Holy Spirit within us is our greatest strength, the Word of God our sword; dont be consumed with gossip.

Paul would write letters to the church about unrepentant sin was happening inside the church. And for all we can see, the church actually changed by his letters. Elders were held to a higher standard. Nowadays, when elders are caught in unrepentant sin, or they know members who are continuing to sin, the elders will protect those people because they are their friends. And anyone who points out their sin, those people get kicked out of the church. The church needs to repent.
I was being abused, and I went to one of the elders to bring it up. His first words out of his mouth were, "stop playing the victim." Even though I was being threatened with physical violence.

Finding a Church in Particular in small Communities these days that are not WOKE. Is difficult. I was blessed being introduced to scripture in very early years as a resident of an orphanage. I sought it out afterwards through #Christian Sunday Schools and all other #Christian gatherings. I had non believing unmarried natural parents. My natural Mother even mocked scripture. I kind off preached to her as a child. #PraiseLordJesus for allowing me to be found and forgiveness. In my semi retirement now I have even more time to study Scripture. Do you think we are meant to be lost to then be found.??? Some have had strong Parent guidance and may not have made as many sinful errors. But being introduced to scripture in early years seems to followed me after being found in early adulthood. I recall #Praying in my teens during what some could describe as abuse by a parent. Needing to get out of the home for safety and sit on the sement ground at the local shops untill the sun came up. Then going home to get into my high school uniform and go to school. It makes me believe how important introduction to scripture in early years may be. Learning to #Pray what a blessing. But yet some grow up with #Faithful parents and yet go on to a deceitful corrupt sinful even evil behaviour life. I wonder why some choose evil over good? Seems so completely INSANE. Whilst curriculum is important, would it not be more important to ask are there other factors also?
See, how long would your average Sunday school lesson/class time be? Let's say, for argument's sake, that it lasts an hour, or maybe say 2 hours altogether for church on a Sunday. That's 2 hours a week out of a total of 168 hours in a week, or 1.2% (and thats being generous). Or if I'm underestimating, let's say 2% of the children's week is spent in solid Biblical teaching.
Now, this is not nothing, but if 2% is all a child ever receives each week, would not one logically say that overall, what happens in the other 98% would be far more likely to have a longer lasting impact than the 2%?
I think churches should be more concerned with equipping parents to teach and train their children - even as is laid out in Deuteronomy 6:6&7. If the 2% is not reinforced during the 98% or even worse, refuted, then it's no surprise that young people turn their backs on the church.

A question to ask is "Exactly how much of the available time for Sunday school is actually used for Bible scripture study?" Especially in today's "modern" churches. Meet and greet at the starting of class. Class announcements and business. A few minutes of devotional time, then it's arts and crafts. Along side of snacks and cartoons.
How does an 8 year old learn to trust the scriptures when they are presented in the same light as Saturday morning Sponge Bob Square Pants or video game characters? Veggie Tales (another Alice in Wonderland story?) and Noah's tiny tugboat.
These days are there any age appropriate studies that counter the woke endorsements of everything embedded in the following 3 points?
1Jo 2:16 KJV - 16 For all that [is] in the world, *the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life*, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Along with this, I've notice a big change from the days of youth, when the rule was If you don't go to church this morning, you don't go anywhere else this afternoon. (It was enforced, BTW). Younger people don't bring Bibles to church anymore. Nor do they bring study materials for Sunday School classes. Thus, making it evident that they no longer actually study lesson materials being covered before classes.
Is it wrong to assume that if they don't bring a Bible to church, along with a quarterly Sunday School Book, that they don't use them during the week? That in fact, they may not even own a personal copy of the Bible? Or, if they do, it's on the top shelf in their closet?

Sunday "school" should be for both children and new believers. They can learn together, helps the young people and keeps the new believers humble. Then, when each child or adult is ready, and perhaps this is acknowledged and celebrated with baptism, each young person or new believer can now take their place among the ranks of the adult worshippers - knowlegeable and self disciplined enough to be with adults and mature Believers. A child is technically an adult (albeit, a young adult) at puberty, which is the age of assent and reason. It's then a child can be readied for "confirmation of faith" and public baptism, but not before.
There should never be 'church' ordained "youth groups" of any kind. Nor "single mom" groups". Those types of activities are merely Christian Community endeavors and activities, and must have nothing to do with the preaching and teaching, with the Spiritled worship, of the "ekkelesia". There must be no 'tribalism' within the fellowship of Bible Believers. And nothing, no heirarchy of activities that can create an "us and them" mentality, especially not between teenagers and adults. Teens need to be humbled, not to be made arrogant with too much independence and autonomy, often under the leadership of a (unbiblical) youth padtor. Even so, the teen years are questioning years, and mature adults are expected to help guide them through this challenging time...not indulge them nor blow them off!

Example that God is a God of order, why would God create the vegetation, trees and plants and fruit on the trees and plants and then wait another 1000 years to make the sun, which the vegetation needs to thrive?
Genesis 1: 11-19 "11Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13And there was evening, and there was morning-the third day.

He also made the stars. 17God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. “The wrath of God is being revealed from Heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities- His eternal power and divine nature- have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God, nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.”
    - Romans 1: 18-22
I’m pretty sure that churchgoing families who send their wee ones to Sunday school, aren’t failing to glorify God, or give thanks. By Ken Ham’s accounting, there’s apparently a failure in the messaging. If Paul’s message in Romans 1 is accurate, then godlessness and wickedness amongst little kids attending Sunday school, should not ever be an issue. But according to Ken Ham, kids leaving the church in droves, IS an issue. Again, he blames the messaging. Ken Ham has a solution. Churches should buy his Sunday school curriculum.
Here’s a thought. What if Romans 1: 18-22 is just plain wrong? What if God didn’t make his invisible qualities- his eternal power and divine nature, plain to them? What if, after seeing through the silliness, the hypocrisy, the bigotry, and the obvious attempts at manipulation and indoctrination, the kids (who are actually a lot smarter than we give them credit for) are simply rejecting the message? Can Ken Ham’s fake Ark and obsession with the book of Genesis, change that?
Ken Ham doesn’t care if you or your family are saved. Ken Ham operates an enterprise that sells books, videos and curriculums. And a fake Ark. He’s a grifter. He’s clearly stirring up an interest in a problem that may or may not actually be a problem. He wants you to buy the book that “clearly” describes the problem, and then I’m sure that you will be introduced to home study materials for your children, available for purchase through the Answers In Genesis bookstore, designed to help stop the supposed exodus of children from belief in God. If you are unable or unwilling to recognize a con, I can’t help you.

And, the Holy Spirit said through the Apostle in 2nd Thessalonians 2:1-3, "Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit, or a message, or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. No one is to deceive you in any way! For it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction..."
We must do what Jesus said in Matthew 24:13, "But the one who endures to the end is the one who will be saved."

Mr. Ham here assumes that the curriculum is the problem, and changing the curriculum would fix the problem - but he didn't mention any research into what type of curriculum had been used with the ~600 former Sunday School students who had left Church. Maybe the curriculum had nothing to do with this phenomenon.

Where is sunday school in the bible? It isnt. THis is the first error.
Second, yes parent responsibility is first and foremost when it comes to teaching and living out their faith. This though is not a benchmark for kids coming to faith, as parents are not perfect, and are being transformed daily themselves.
Having a relationship with Jesus is personal and God is sovereign over everyone who comes to faith. We cannot open eyes and ears... the gospel does this by the power of the spirit. Dont get me wrong, how we live is important, but if it depended on us no one would be saved. It doesnt... as Jesus pointed out.. whats with man is impossible, with God all things are possible.
THe gospel is the power of God unto salvation to those that believe. God knows who will believe. We must preach it and teach it and under grace.. live it.
Everyone has their story... their journey.
Being religious is what drives people away. Hypocrites who say one thing and do another. Many dont know Jesus as Lord.
Praying for your family and letting God do the work..no matter where they are at...trust in him to bring them to the cross... but at the same time, you live out your faith the best you can, and that comes by knowing God and his word.. understanding his heart. We all get it wrong and we all fall short. Grace and mercy is all we can ask for... and our Father is very gracious and merciful. We show our children what repentance is... we show how God is slow to anger and abounds in steadfast love. We practise what we preach.
God has created it so that he shows us his strength and his might, and his grace... we are designed for that.. we arent created to be our own god in charge and knowing what to do. We are given all things from the Lord who all things were made through him and for him.
Above all we have to learn how to be gracious, how to keep unity, how to be peaceable with all as much as we can etc... WE need to back off, live our own personal life with Jesus and by his spirit we will then be able to live the life he has called us to.... which is about dying to self!!
Maybe... the issue is that churches are responsible because they preach a false gospel... and because of this, there are many false converts... and children see this... the narrow road leads to life and few find it... this is what our Lord says... its time to get right with God ourselves first.... only then God may use you to reach others. Its a hard lesson for many.. including me... but God is amazing and good... hes patient... today is a day to repent,.. today is a day to get right .... grace abounds.... its never too late with Jesus.

People aren't leaving church because Sunday School doesn't teach Ken Ham's defective, theologically aberrant views on the nature of suffering. It's no surprise that a man who made more money selling Young Earthism than David Bowie made selling records and concert tickets would produce a study that says we need more Young Earthism - what else would we expect?
People leave church when church fails to be relevant anymore. When work dominates your life, when church doesn't help you with your social, academic, or employment dilemmas, adherence gets crowded out. There is a lot of work to be done to reverse this trend. But teaching more of Ham's mishmash that confuses Eden's perfection with the state of the entire prehistoric world, misunderstands what the Bible means by Death, and casts a bizarre light on God's character as an all-powerful creator who literally wouldn't hurt a fly but then helplessly abandons billions of souls to Hell just because Eve ate bad fruit...well, that ain't it.

Congratulations Ken on finally recognizing that Christianity is collapsing among the young, but you have it exactly backwards. Bible literalism is the problem, not the solution. The reason is that young people, unlike their parents, are unwilling to gloss over the credibility issues. The solution is to simplify the teaching to its core mission-teaching people to find the love and compassion that is within them and to make it a major theme in their lives. This is what Jesus meant when he said, "The kingdom of God is within you." Also, young people live in a world of space travel and unlimited, globalized information right on their phones. They do not live in a world of miracles, angels, and demons. Teach inner love and compassion. Get rid of the teachers who don't get it or are still focusing heavily on sin. You're welcome.

I don’t think it’s hypocritical of a Sunday Teacher, to teach that the Genesis story was really meant for the people at the time to understand. It wasn’t designed for modern day science. The Bible isn’t a Science book.
I like you will find, the main reason for youngsters leaving Sunday School & church, is, they were made to feel, they either had to believe all the Bible or not at all. This philosophy has turned many away, and it started with the famous Atheist Chris Hitchens. His Sunday School teacher told him that God created nature, & that’s all he needs to know. Completely Anti science.
Christianity starts with the event of the Resurrection. It doesn’t start at the beginning of Genesis. That’s what we need to get youngsters back to faith. Not telling them the Earth is only 6,000 years old, created in 6 days, because it’s a part of a book written my man. The Old Testament should be respected aswell, but the Jesus story needs to take precedence in this day & age. ( just my thoughts).
