Shadetree , you gotta help this guy with his own channel! He is a shoe in for a million subs and millions of views!
Joe, the mountain jedi, has forgotten more than I've known in over 43 years of riding, maintaining and advising others. Joe is!! Nuff said.
Nah....just love what I do man!!!
RAN WHEN PARKED : Some of your best content yet, imo. I’ve been around for about 6 years but I only started commenting recently
Thankie kindly!!
Get a life
I agree
Joe has a smooth way of getting info across. These videos are valuable to a fledgling shitbike wrencher like me
I'm genuinely glad that it's helpful to you!!!.... I was lucky to learn from an exceptionally good bunch of "old heads" that taught what they lived.....that's all I'm trying to do here👍
Shade Tree 🌳 this mechanic is great 👍🏻 dude needs his own channel
Lol.....man, that's the LAST thing I need to juggle in my life right now 😂😳
Ran when parked is invaluable. Great content and having a mechanic show people how things are supposed to be done and answering any questions has and will continue to save people fortunes. Not to mention keeping them safe on the road. Thanks guys
What I show folks isn't meant to be taken as an absolute, but I try to do the best job I can of explaining the what/why/how, and how to not go broke doing it!!!
Thank you sir!!
Thanks for the call out to us veterans
Thank you for your service sir!!!
the leeeeeroy jenkins towards the end there. 😂 I wasn't ready for it.
Neither was I 🤣🤣
As a Arkansas born Canadian..it warms my heart watching this episode. My first muscle bike was an 85 eliminator! Cheers good sirs🍻
Yeah,,, Good stuff, eh? I'm Canadian too, but I live in Japan now. Peace!
From one arkie to another, thank you sir, and I'm glad it tripped the memory bank!!
W wait wait wait wait a what?.... an Arkansas born Canadian that's more rare than $1,000.57 Chevy😂
Great format, Joe and his southern drawl, and Josh on the camera and the banter back and forth.
Joe is so easy to listen to, usually giving the easy way to get things done, but done right.
Keep up the good work.
Good call out memorializing the meaning of Memorial Day!
"GOD BLESS THE USA"
This is great. Joe gives "common sense" tips, with a "professional perspective" and THAT is what makes Ran When Parked so darn good.
And, Josh, your camera skills and editing chops make aHUGE difference as well.
Thanks, fellas. And Thank You to AL our service members past & present!☮
Thank you for the time you spent with us on this one ....the one "on deck" is gonna be a handful!!
This guy is a keeper! Joe The Mountain Jedi for President! Out with the geriatric joe and in with the Joe that can speak coherently!
Oh HELL no.....that's damned high on my list of "shit jobs that I do NOT want😂"
I just love those big Kawasaki fours. I agree with Joe, that sound at full boil is addictive.
Like a fat kid with a unguarded box of Twinkies (oh, wait .....🤣)
Omg, I never thought I would see a person that likes talking anymore than Josh. Well Joe is that guy. It is a nonstop narration. You two fit together like peas and carrots. Be safe, have fun.
Lol.....man, you're giving the wife unit ammo to use against me 🤣🤣
I always thought these were cool as hell, would like to see a big inline 4 in a cruiser again.
A "new school" eliminator with a zx10 derived mill would be insane!!!
Blew a fork seal on my '09 Vulcan several years ago. I don't have a garage, and had to do the work in my driveway using the tailgate of my pickup as my work bench. The hardest part of the swap? Finding crush washers, and of course the first fork. After struggling with the first one, the second one was MUCH easier. I did it right because it matters (same reason I do my own brakes on all my vehicles... IT MATTERS)!
Loved watching this, Thanks!
Hey man, thanks for taking the time to watch!!!... It's this kind of mindset that you have that is becoming increasingly rare these days 😞
great call on the moly grease.i did my wing years ago was very surprised how exspensive that grease was.
Yeah, but if it legit WORKS, it ain't that expensive in the long run!!!
Oooo, that thing sounds fantastic! And I genuinely laughed out loud a "LEEEEROOOOY JENKIIIIINS!!!!"
The bike definitely sounds better than I do on camera 🤣
@@JoeTheMountainJedi LOL! Everyone hate how they sound on camera. But lets be honest, that bike sounds better than damn near everyone! Fantastic work!
Hell yeah R.I.P. Pops I miss you and took your granddaughter out fishing since you been gone.
Unsolicited tip.
Leave the forks in the triple clamps to start. It serves to hold the fork tube so you can get the snap ring out. Once out, bend one tip of that snap ring with a pair of needle nose pliers. This will give you an end to get the hook under from then one to facilitate removal. I do the same with screw on caps, break them loose while they are secure in the tree, then remove them.
In the shop, I rarely have to(except for Harley models, where the fork cap also retains the forks into the trees), but then again, in my "normal environment" I've got everything there that I'm used to having available to me, and I have a "dance card" I follow.....good catch on this, and absolutely helpful to folks doing this at home👍
Joe is amazing
Hey man, I just love what I do ....
Bike mechanics who work on everything are like the Veterinarians of the bike world. They work on more than one beast.Harley mechanics seldom give respect to small shop mechanics who work on all bikes. This Gentleman has my total respect.🤘🤠🤘 We had good luck using a scotch Brite wheel on ffft up fork tubes.
I greatly appreciate this!!!!.... Most dealer "techs" learn 1, maybe 2 brands, and just follow along with what changes with new model year debuts.......give em a set of points, and they're lost!!!
Don't get me wrong, new bikes are awesome, but I absolutely LOVE the history of the development process, and how we got to where we are today!
the king of one liners, Joe the Mountain Jedi. great video fellas. Thank you.
Thanks for the support!!!
It's a joke not a dick, you don't have to take it so hard!😂 Gonna use that one!
51:51 That's me. Lololol
40:13. That shirt is Murica! 🇺🇲
Joe, awesome that you stopped the video to make sure everyone understands what's important to you regarding Memorial Day. We should all feel the same way!! Enjoy those beers with your son!
With regards to the bikes, this is a masterclass on how people like Joe keep shit in this world keep going! It ain't business savvy doin it, I frickin promise ya that!
There are things and times in life where you have to put aside your personal plans/intentions and recognize that there are things in this world that are important to point out to people and give a reminder of what got us here as a country.
Both of our kids are military veterans now, along with multiple people in our family and lives. It's something that is a point of pride for me as a parent, and also a silent reminder that we ARE truly blessed as a society for the freedoms that we enjoy..... THAT will NEVER be something that is overlooked or discounted in my circle of the world!🫡
It was a great series, tons of great tips.
Thanks for taking the time to watch!!
Joe sounds like he's from southeast KY. And looks a lot like one of my brothers from southeast KY.
Not quite.... northwest Arkansas is my "hatching place".....
First bike I ever had was an Eliminator 900 and loved it. Wouldn't mind having another one. It was definitely was a fun one. Great video guys.
Thanks man!!... Glad I could trigger the memory bank 👍
When I was a kid, one of my cousins bought a Honda Intercept 1000. I rode it for a few minutes, and consider myself lucky to still be alive... It was a two wheeled ABOMINATION that wanted to KILL YOU. He sold it a few months later.
I am guessing that is the 900cc version and not the 1000cc version. Nice bike and lots of subdued Ninja heritage under that tank.
Yep, she's a 900.....the 1k was a bit on the porky side, and kawi shared too much engine layout with the concourse and voyager touring bike ....the 900 wasn't watered down NEARLY as much from the OG Ninja motor!
@@JoeTheMountainJedi I always liked those 900s.
So much good stuff in this vid. I've re-learned some of the stuff I've forgot to not forget
Thanks brother, and I'll see ya in October!!🤘
A little tip I’ve picked up is to mix a bit of waterproof grease into the M77. That way it doesn’t wash out or dry up in between tire changes.
Usually, I'd agree with you....the problem is, the molybdenum disphulate in the grease is a "sacrificial barrier" in this instance, and really SHOULD be applied fresh whenever the tire is serviced!
Joe, the mountain jedi, this is how ALL Americans Talk in my german Brain. I could listen days to that guy. I love it.
Joe is a great teacher.
Thanks man ...I try!
Best series on CZcams I look forward to this every week thanks for sharing this information with all of us
Well, then pencil me in for your Monday evening for the next____years!!!!..... We're just now getting in a groove 😁
Great job guys. I have a little Crf70 to fix for my grand kids. This fork video will surely help. Thanks y’all.
Holler at me if you need any help!!.... ALWAYS gotta make time for the kids man, they are our future!!🤘
Good job Grandpa 👍👍
That bike can rip!
Best stuff ever guys!! Love the focus on the old 80’s metric stuff, tons of those bikes out there that need brought back.
Man, there are SO MANY that I see literally DAILY, it's staggering!!!
Glad you hung on for the ride, but don't go anywhere, because we're just getting ramped up!!
This is better than tv!
Dunno if I'll ever get as awesome as Ren and Stimpy, but I'm trying 🤣
Hats off to Joe for his bravery of wearing those shirts! He is a one of kind badass for sure. Much R E S P E C T mate! ᥫ᭡
Personally, I'm AMAZED that I haven't trashed one yet😂
@@JoeTheMountainJedi 🤣😂

There is nothing worse than coming behind someone who THINKS they know what they are doing. Some people won't bail until it is beyond repair
Some folks let their ego overrule their common sense ....and then, BAM!!!
Charlie Foxtrot situation when I get ahold of it!!😡🤦
Just what this channel needed: Sound, Reliable, Expert Advice! lol... I’m just "joshing" you 😁 You guys rock! Thanks much!
Dunno who you're calling "expert".... Sure ain't me man😂
@@JoeTheMountainJedi
@@JoeTheMountainJedi Modest on top of that! lol I love watching you at work, Joe, you know exactly where you’re going, it’s like watching a Sherpa, and the commentary is like listening to a Delta Airline pilot bringing her in, I love it! p.s.The empty comment box is me with my jaw drop, watching you bring back to life any heap you come in contact with! Keep it coming bro! And a salute to both your children who serve their nation with honor and pride! 🇨🇦🤝🇺🇸 Pierre 😉👍
Man I love these videos. Being a wrench head I enjoy learning about these bikes
Hey man, glad I could share it with you!!!!
I appreciate you hanging in there to watch 👍
Thanks JOE,
I love your GIFT of GAB & Instruction,

...
My old 94 sporty had the gunky sludge fork issue. I 1) bought a full kit and 2) hit it with a pressure washer to get everything out. After a super cleaning like that, it handled LOVELY at least for a sporty lol.
*****Shadetree! I love this Guy!!!!
I fucking love this series. It's teaching me stuff about my own 2014 bike & giving me the confidence to try basic stuff.
Glad it's helping 👍👍👍....the next one is gonna be a handful!!😳
Josh, These Ran when parked vids are quickly becoming a fave of mine. Joe is an absolute ledged and a true Gentleman, not only does he have sage like wisdom but he loves to help teach us plebs.
The Jedi and the Wizard smashing the gatekeepers together.
Lolol.....guess that makes me "the key master"🤣
Legend???.... Bah....I'm just some bumpkin that loves what I do.....and my wife would DEFINITELY question the "gentleman"statement 😂
@@JoeTheMountainJedi so many gatekeepers around. The willingness to teach others for free says so much cheers mate keep up the good work.
Love the ran when parked series. Im a mechanic and can hold my own working on my bike. but i like to see Joe work and how he explains stuff.
I appreciate that man!!!.... My main goal with these videos is to help folks work out problems with their rides that they would otherwise have to 1, find someone who will actually do QUALITY work on bikes that aren't "mainstream/current", and 2, help folks save some money by doing it yourself!!
I had a 1984 vulcan 700 the fork set up was the same I always took that snap ring out with the forks Still on the bike.
In hindsight, I'm not sure if that would have helped much in this case ...those things were GROWN in there🤦
Love it! I loved watching Josh wrench but I ain’t gunna lie 🙌 it’s nice to learn some cool tips along the way!
Thanks man!!.....I do try!
Ran When Parked what a concept jeezzz well for me three amazing vlogs were brought to us by two mega-human beings so keep doing them. I and many others will love and appreciate the advice and basic knowledge that an experienced spanner twirler possesses. Nice one chaps.Matt from Hastings at the other side of the pond England GB close t to the Milky Way. LOL
Don't know about being a "mega-human"(I'll freely admit to being "plus sized"🤣🤣)
Glad youve been enjoying it!!👍
Loving this series. Great work guys
Thanks for hanging out with us!!
I've got to be absolutely honest about 2 weeks ago.I read did the forkseals on my wife's 2003 Honda.G.L 1800 trike. This thing took me 12 hours with all of the plastics it had to come off and all of the messed up screws and the fork tube seals were completely shot. The bolts in the bottom of the fort tubes Had a lot of gunk and funk in the bottom and they were near to impossible to get out.But we managed and we got the stuff back in like it was supposed to be and they are working top-notch now.But it's not something I ever wanna do again I will say that.
Ive always said, the first time is the WORST time!!!.... It gets easier after you've done something before, because you kinda know what to expect!!
This series has been a great change of pace. I'm excited to see where it goes next.
Lol ...."round 2" is gonna be a good one!!!
Hang in there man🤘
I had two eliminator 400s and a 900 for motorcycle training her in the UK, absolutely rapid, bulletproof and grin worthy
Great job guys. Looking forward to the next project
Thanks man!!! 🙏
Awesome job guys.
Thanks for another great bike lesson! Nice hanging with everyone see ya'll on the next one Peace Out ✌️
Hey man.....thanks for taking the time to watch!!!
Hell yeah my brother 🔥 🙌 💪
Just watched a video you made 6 years ago. "Why I don't wave to other bikers." Man, you've come a long way. Just in the amount of cursing, lol. I'd love to hear your take on waving today.
That video is actually a remake of a video I did over TEN years ago… and they were both always meant to be”troll” content. I wave at people all the time haha
Excellent!
Just getting better and better content 🏍️😎👍🏻
Hey, I'm just now figuring this yuu-toobs thing out😂..... Now I can work on putting out some cool stuff 🤓
Joe is a hell of a good teacher good content
I appreciate it brother, I just try to "smooth out the bumps" in my explanation of things where people can get their head wrapped around it as easy as possible!
Best how toos on you tube and he explains it so well
I try brother....thank you!! 🙏
I was not expecting to hear "Leeeeeroy Jenkins!" - WoW - literally!
Hey man, it just felt right 🤣🤣
Thank you both very much for making these videos 🤘
Hey man, thanks for spending some time with us 👍
Another good one pland Josh, woot
Loosen the damping rod bolt first before removing the spring. It prevents the rod from spinning, and it let's you get the bolt right out.
Most of the time, I'd absolutely agree with you....
This was NOT one of those times!!
Great video guys. 👍
The more I listen to Joe, the more I hear Foghorn Leghorn. It's entertaining, but sometimes gets in the way of hearing his GOLDEN wisdom.
Boy, I say, BOY!!.....
Sorry brother, but my bumpkin gets WORSE when I'm off camera 🤣
Was hoping Joe would talk about the Road Star click of death when he was talking about changing bulbs to LEDs. Not sure if it's all Road Stars or just the Warrior though.
Roadie's(1600/1700, and warriors) all have a appetite for starter solenoids!!!.... I keep a spare in my saddlebags on mine, just in case
Personally, I blame it on a solenoid design that was marginally ok for the load it has to handle, and also people letting their batteries get low, and it working the solenoid to death!!!
The puny battery cables that Yamaha used don't help much either...(I made a new set out of 4Ga welding lead for BG....just in case)....since I daily BG, my battery doesn't really have a chance to sit much and get low, but ALL the xv bikes I get in the shop with "the click" are from "occasional riders", and I'm betting that most folks don't use a battery maintainer nearly as often as they should!!
@@JoeTheMountainJedi Thank you for responding! That sounds like it might be a different clicking than the Click of Death I've been reading about. Though, with the limited explanations I've found on it, who knows. What I've gathered from other sources is if you change all the running lights to LED (headlight, front turn signals, license plate), it leaves too much energy in the electrical system when you turn the bike off with either the kill or the kickstand switch. Apparently the only place for this energy to discharge is through the decompression solenoid which will cycle and click until the battery dies. I'm by no means an electrical expert but it just doesn't make sense to me that electricity becomes "trapped" like that but also has a closed circuit to drain the battery when the bike is supposed to be turned off.
@@jweav151 brother, I have NEVER ran across THAT!!!.... Sounds to me like someone created their own problem with some bad install!!!(I'm fully LED on my roadie, and have yet to have a issue with it in over 2 years....the ONLY thing I have done different is swapping my flasher relay to a universal one like in this episode......that "may" be the cause of it, due to the factory auto-cancel feature.....)
You need to take a bike like this and go to a reliability rally. It's a competition and a 400 mile ride with bikes of Max price of $1000. I think that would be sick to see on the channel. Google reliability rally for more info.
Man, that's an AWESOME idea!!!.... Definitely gonna look into this!!😍
Great series
Good stuff boys . I like the mess ups. I work on bikes and it never go’s as plans .
He is so smart. I love these videos
I appreciate the kind words sir, but what you see is WAY too many years of me doing things the "hard way", before I figured out the "smart way"!!
Thanks for taking the time to watch 🤘
These videos, the Suzuki video and your deeply narrated story style road trip videos deserve their own separate channel.
When we came to NAS Cecil Field, from the Tonkin Gulf, many of my buddies had 500, and 750 triples. Man were they fast!
😮 great series.
Thank you for taking the time to watch!!!
This guy rocks hope to see more of the show
I'm enjoying this series you guys work well together and his knowledge is awesome!
What a gorgeous bike. I’d love to own that thing
Great episode again. NEVER remove the Singblade pop up at the end of the intro! 🤣
Noted!!👍🤣
I've been watching this channel for years, and I have to be honest, this series is my favorite videos you've ever done.
Glad ya like it!!!( Scared to death I was gonna hafta rely on my charm, and striking good looks 🤣🤣)
Another awesome video !!!!!
Thanks man!!
Another great Joe video! 🎉
Thanks hon!!
This series is quickly becoming my favourite thing on CZcams. Well done!
Glad you're enjoying it!!... Hope it may help you out of a jam someday 👍
Holy shit I want that bike! I remember when they came out, they were the longest lowest frame Kawasaki ever produced, with a 900 Ninja motor! A straight line monster! Great video yall, PEACE!!!!!
There's "plans" for later on down the road with this one .....stick around man!!
Loving this new format with Joe! Nice addition to the other weekly videos
Thanks!!!.... I try to put out info to help people either work their way thru a problem, or if they aren't comfortable wrenching on their own, at least having enough practical knowledge to keep from getting jacked by some shady shop!!
Thanks for taking the time to watch 👍
@@JoeTheMountainJedi the videos help for sure. I've started doing more work on my bike lately. I replaced the fuel pump and the clutch recently on my 08 ultra classic .
"Audible porn for your gearhead ears". Gotcha! I understand completely. Great watchin' ya work, Fellers. Thanks! I learned some things I didn't know- as usual.
Hang around man, Im like a damned bad rash......hard to get rid of 🤣
Thanks Joe. My everlasting itch has always been two wheels. I've got to do someething about it as I'mnow livinginJapan where there are some twisty mountainroads taunting me every time Ileave the city. For now, I'm gettin' educated so Icanread the road singns and findmy way home! @joeyother9969
Ooh! I see whiskey in the mornin' ain't helpin' my phone typin'. Whew!
Messed with quite a few forks in my life at my shop. even straightened a few in my press. test on a mirror on a stainless bench.....may take half a day.. by that labor charge you could've bought a tube.
Man, I've had to do it as well but I REALLY don't like to!!.... When metal is bent, it work hardens, and you're giving it a double dose when you straighten it out!
That's a job those folk seals change.
It ain't the worst job in the world, but sometimes it sure ain't fun!!
0000 steel wool works wonders on forks also
Sure does.... needed something with a little more bite to it as rough as these were tho!!🤦
Where the rust was you can spray with frog lube and rub it in.. use a heat gun to heat it in then buff it off. Should last a year or so
Bleeehhhh......
Frog lube has caused more than one "pew" that I've worked on over the years to do some really bizarre stuff when it clabers up!!!... Not for me my man!!!
Nice work
Cyclops leds are the only leds I will buy, hands down the best quality and light pattern.
Joe the mountain Jedi is awesome! Great video series!
Thanks Biggin!!!!.... figured out a LONG time ago that I ain't ever gonna hit the lottery, or make it big in Hollywood, so I might as well have some fun along the way 👍
Joe is a treasure, take care of him!!
Wife unit just read this ...and I'm quoting here, so bear with me.....
"WTF people mean, take care of you....you've managed to stay alive these past 27 years, and ain't found the poison yet!!?!??!!"🤣🤣
