There are rescues for larger horses... Gentle Giants is one. For heavy riders an excellent option.
They only allow people that live with in 4 hrs of their facility to adopt any of their horses... I've been dying to adopt a draft and have been very interested in several of their horses bit sadly I live in florida so... yeah
drafts actually are weakedr rider wise than smaller horses, because they are bred to pull not carry.
Some people are too big for the horses they choose.
I certainly do not mean anything negative nor accusatory, that being said it seems some of the buyers that are going to ride these sweet animals need to pick ones that can accommodate their size. Just saying. We all come in different sizes, shapes and weight.
Mia, you are SOOOOOOO right; get someone to SAY something. Those POOOR horses :(
What does that do to the horse's back, spine, legs and hooves putting someone too big for the horse!? Is that a caring adoption when you rescue then send the animal out to a poor future again.?!
@@mircat28 how do you they're the ones going to ride the horses though? Could be buying the horses for other people like grandchildren for example....

Rule of thumb for all those wondering about weight of a person for a horse. A horse or pony can safely bear weight of UP TO 20% of it's own weight. Some of those people were too heavy to be riding some of those horses.
You should include a weight limit for the rider of each equine concidering the animals' weight and constitution.
They seem to watch that very carefully during face to face interview
Thank you other watchers! Sometimes I wonder how much weight these 12-14 hand tall horses can bear? 🙄 I am not bring judgmental, but practical, being a bigger gal myself.
Personally, I think the person adopting shoulder should be lower than the horses shoulder. They carry most of their weight on their front legs and could possibly put, too much weight on them.
Horse Plus rescue is making a huge difference to the lives of these victims of the slaughter pipeline. Thamk you.
RIP CYBIL..🌷 poor girl.
To greener pastures for you girl
Just a sad ending for one horse but so grateful she received love, support, and treatment.
I'm so sad to see Cybil be euthanized. I know you all did what you could for her. She was such a beautiful horse.
That horse is struggling to carry that man!!
Hi I was born and raised on a quarter horse farm I'm 67 years old I am so glad that there is now people that will rescue horses I have seen so many horses at sale barn that I knew were going to the slaughter houses made me sick my father always picked up horses ponies donkeys that he seen being abused or mistreated one time he was driving through the city install a pony with a log chain around its neck hook to for concrete blocks he stopped the truck went to the house I'm bought the pony on site I sent in the back of the truck holding the pony as we went back home that's the type of people I was raised around I'm plan on adopting a trail horse all I can say is what you're doing to me is the greatest thing on earth thank you thank you thank you
That red spotted Appaloosa is a gorgeous boy!
The world needs more people like you.... you are human angels to these beautiful horsey souls. 💝
I’d adopt that blue point Siamese cat in a second! I had one as a child and she was just awesome, I’ve never forgot her!
I wonder if Horse Plus trainers ever get a "bad feeling" when meeting some of these potential adopters and put the brakes on? I know they have a application process to adopt that covers a lot, but sometimes not the same thing as an in person meeting.
I hope you are still around and watching...they just recently posted a vlog about when they had a couple that was inexperienced with horses try and adopt one of the mostly unhandled horses. She wanted to train it herself with no prior experience to have a special "bond." But thankfully the Horse Plus crew stepped up together and intervened. Their unhandled horses have a waived adoption fee but also they need to go straight to a trainer and definitely not to a novice.
The lady really needed to consider that horses rarely stay a lifetime with a trainer yet will still have a great bond with their owner. She should start with a level 1 or 2 calm & trained horse that really needs a great home and work from there.
Of course the lady was defensive but so many things she said and emailed helped show she was not a good fit for adopting. Her not wanting the adoption center to know much about their finances, of course that's an important part of an adoption, otherwise ppl would easily get in over their heads and that's no good for the horse or for the cause.
Anyway, just the kind of vlog u were looking for a month ago when u posted here. I bet u already saw it!
What you’re doing is what I always dreamt of doing.you’re doing good things
For the horses.
I horse lady I like your videos hey make so happy and smiling
Great work, you should be very proud!
Just a little bit concerned about the heavier riders though.
Nothing more precious than a little kitten. Thank You for stopping and saving him from being hit by cars. You Folks Rock.
Awww 💞🐾👍👍👍😁
You all are just the sweetest and most beautiful woman I know
God bless you for your love and caring you give to these innocent souls 💫🐾💞🐴
You all should be so proud of yourselves. Amazing people helping Amazing animals.
God bless you for rescuing Sybil and trying so hard to save her. You are so kind to humanly put her down after trying to help her. Thank you so much for all that you do for the precious horses. Stay safe! Virtual hugs! ❤️
that kitty has sum seal point in him if not full.what a cutie
God bless you all... Those horses are so lucky to have you in their lives giving them hope... and that kitten! But 3 rescue dogs is enough for now. Cybil R.I.P. honey... I was praying but glad you won't suffer anymore.
Every community ought to have a spay/nueter program
Tawnee, I am a new follower of your rescue. I cry watching and celebrate, too.
However, I am disturbed that you are allowing people to adopt horses that are TOO SMALL for them and it will HURT the horses! I am not a slim girl, and although I have not had a horse since I was a teenager and am not an expert, even I see that these people too often are too large for the horses they want to adopt. They may be precious people, but not the precious person that should be riding these small horses.
I'm glad you admit you're not an expert. You should go and get educated or stop making rude comments
I hope Sybil gets the rest she deserves. I have been waiting for this episode, hoping for her that she could recover, but i understand that she should not have to suffer. Thank you for all that you do!!
Nice mustang, thanks for saving her.❤❤❤
All horses are perfect horses, people are the ones who make them not so, perfect horses.
Thanks!
Liquid Dawn dish soap is cheaper and works great for fleas. I have used it on lots of foster pups.
Sarah is so good on camera! we should see her more often!
Thanks running over for all you do! Your location is kept so clean and the care you give is the best. A group of wonderful gals you all are !!!
God bless...
Awww kitty. I'm so glad you made room for temporary shelters for cats & dogs too. There's such a huge need in rural areas, and so many callous people who just dump them when they become inconvenient.
Also, for all those people freaking out about the size of the gentleman... WE are only seeing the edited clips of all the total footage. We have NOT seen all the adoption application information. WE do not know the intended purpose of the adopted horses, whether the adopter will be the rider, or if they're being adopted for younger family members, or how many years of horse experience adopters have, or ANY other pertinent information. We're just seeing these short clips at the end of the adoption process.
WE don't have all the information. But Horse Plus DOES. I'm positive they've thoroughly checked their adopters out, and know how these horses & donkeys will be used. I'm confident they've made the right choice when they approved the adoptions.
If I was going to be adopting a horse for my family, I would damn sure want to ride that horse to check them out, even if I never intended to swing a leg over that horse again. A short ride by a larger person on a smaller horse will not hurt them. But it will tell an experienced rider how responsive and safe that horse is likely to be for their kids or grand kids. I have no problem with this.
Just ask yourself before you judge others... do you have ALL the information? If the answer is no, you need to trust Tawnee and Jason to do the right thing. I do.
Thank you for all you do, you are Earth Angels. Greetings from Dublin, Southern Ireland 🇮🇪☘️
Thanks for all you do on giving animal's a second chance
Horse Plus Humane Society, would you please please comment about the issue posted many times about the larger guy adopting Ady.
He needs a much larger horse, it's so obvious :/ Should be a weight limit on certain horses and a weight field in the form to fill in order to match better.
And how do you know he'll be riding the horse? Could be getting it for one of his grandchildren....
Discrimination is illegal 🤗
The kitty looks like a lilac point Siamese.
these horses all look so great after their rescue,m i cannot believe it
Love all you adopters of the special horses, you're certainly doing the right thing helping these helpless magnificent animals !
You’re all special young ladies doing very special work! Lovely to hear you mention the names of some of your donors 🦋🦋🦋🌟
Love those donkeys ears.
I love the donkeys and mules! I love riding mules!
I have we love the seal point sizes kitty.
Keep the kitty...👍
Barn Cat!👏💙
I love people’s hearts and generosity!!!
THAT MAN WAS TOO HEAVY FOR THAT HORSE - somebody SAY something PLEEEEASE????
yessssssss
omg yees, i was like. whaaa, noo
Y’all do realize he could be purchasing the horse for a daughter, grandchildren, or somebody else? I’m pretty sure the staff know what they’re doing.
That's sad she was a beautiful horse
That little blue point kitten is so cute
I think the trainer is very good. The only thing I would suggest is teaching the horses not to move out right away. They should stand still when a person mounts and not move until asked. A new owner may not know this and could fall off if the horse just walks off like that.
After9Design .If you watch more posts you will see that they do train the horses good behaviours, but some have been badly treated and taught bad behaviours which are hard habits to break, Any new owner worth their salt would find out about this during the adoption stage. They do work with the horses and use kindness not cruelty to rehabilitate their rescues.
Really criticism like this is unnecessary and does not do anyone any favours!
I wish that I could donate but my mom will not let me, I would donate all my money if I could 💕 you guys are awesome!!!!
Keep up the great work , you guys are needed so much in this world !
That kitten did AWESOME during its bath mine try to kill me 😂😂
Thank you so much for what you all do!!!! Blessings!!!
jessica...you're the best n cutest 😊
Thank you for sharing the great work you all do.🐴🐴🐴🌟
Fantastic my darlings so proud of you all for what you doing there. I can only hope that equine community can support you financially to keep saving these horses & also volanteer work as lord knows emotionally it takes its toll hugs k8sses big pat on back. Heather ai
That looks like a lyme disease rash from tick. Hope no one got sick!!
That man was way way too big and heavy for Ady - I cannot understand why you would let him adopt her .
Yes, this was the only time I have felt like that horse was not going to end up at a good place. I hope I’m wrong as I would hate to see that horse hurt or neglected.
But remember - the man may be purchasing the horse for his wife/kids/grandkids. He could have been trying out the horse/assessing her but he may not be the intended rider. I think HPHS has the right experience to match the correct horse & owner.
Linda Pyne Very true - I hope you are right .
Just subscribed to this channel but seeing that guy on that horse hurt.might un.
On a prior video a very small girl (she was 6yrs old I think) was matched with a tall tb type chestnut mare, on the way home they turned back returned that mare and swapped for a slightly smaller mare, the next 3 adopters were 3 adults that adopted ponies. Do t get their method either, but they do a great job refeeding these horses/donks.
I have to say though i agree the guy too big for that baby.
I said many times I love what you do and rescue horses from slaughter and that you can help and turn them around and give them more hope and a forever home and I no that it is not all glam and happy but if you bring them back you have given them another chance and if they can’t be saved they can’t be saved and I love watching you all and many kudos to you all if I lived closer I would be there helping all I can but I’m in the Uk 🇬🇧 so I keep on watching and 👍😉🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I'm in iowa we have chiggers that do that too the burrow under the skin they live in the grass
🙏 Thank you so much ❤ for being the voice of any animal that needs one! 🙏 ❤You do amazing work💖 I'm very happy of what you guys do and your crew for all the poor animals🧡..
Regadless of that dreadful man said on that vidio. I think you people do a great job caring for horses and donkeys From what i see on your vidios
I've been watching your wonderful work you all do. I wish more people could help you all out. California is a little far to help. Love all you do.
I would volunteer all of my spare time to help out if I lived closer. You are all amazing!
I love your videos and all you do keep up your work
Such a lovely episode! So many beautiful loving horses! It was so inspiring and hopeful! Thank you.
He is way to big for that horse :-(
The light donkey was a zonkey
i love it how they dont really care about the letters in the amazon parcels
There are thousands of people across America that have adopted a horse or a few of them. They tend to them and feed them and never ask for a dollar. Thousands! I still have the first race horse I have ever owned. He's close to thirty years old. I never asked anybody for as little as a nickel.
Love watching your videos, you are all amazing. Thank you for sharing. We are watching Western Australia. Keep up your amazing work you are doing 💜💜🐴🐎
The horse at 6 00 seems to have pain in the back or backleg. Thank you for your work! 💜
Id love to adopt any one of these precious equines. Im from the uk though.
Keep up this absolutely amazing work you do. I know its not easy but you are all so efficient. THANKYOU.
You guys are the BEST!!!
I love watching these
I love your work, but often I hope, that the adopters don't plan to ride before loosing weight. Sorry to say this, but I see that extremely often and it makes me wonder🙈
My mama and her family are from Tn., and we called 'em "chiggers". They ITCH like crazy, and for sure you cannot see 'em. I've not known ticks to itch, they just make you sick.
Yes, when they were talking about tiny ticks I was thinking deer ticks and was worrying about Lyme Disease.
Lyme disease can kill or debilitate you.
It is a terrible, terrible problem on the East Coast and all over.
It is a virus that is spread by tick bites.
Always wear bug spray.
The deer tick is named after deer but are also tied to white footed mice, birds, even lizards.
Ticks can be in long grass in areas with plentiful rain, (Tennessee.)
Always check for ticks but these ticks are only about the size of a period in a sentence. It's better to just not be bitten in the first place.
Why would anyone dislike this?
Picked up a Siamese kitten
Thanks so much for all your hard work
The guy is too big for her, I hope it’s for his kids.
6:00 wauw they look like a great match!
OMG, where is this girl from? Tennessee ticks? No mam it is chiggers that make you itch
I do a two bucket method with giving the cats a bath.
One bucket with Warm water
One buccket of warm water with soap in it. And i hold cat in warm water for minute get nice abd wet then but then in soap water and get the cat all clean theb switch back over to warm water to rinse them off. Definitly less mess and easy to wash kitty cats better with less stress for them just in case you ever need to do it again. Love and regards Hannah
I love your videos and what you all do, very grateful for all your hard work, I felt the need to tell you about this,,,,, ( sticker remover) OIL,,, is an effective way to break down the adhesive that makes the auction stickers, adhere to the horse's fur.,,, If you can eat it,,, it’s got the green light. Apply a few drops of olive, vegetable, coconut, or sesame oil to the top of the sticker, and allow a few minutes for it to soak through and start breaking down the adhesive. Then slowly and gently peel one edge of the bandage away from your horse's fur,,, then move on to the other side. Go slowly and work the bandage little by little out of the fur. If it isn’t coming off easily, apply more oil, wait another few minutes, then try again. This method should also remove the sticky adhesive from your horse's fur,,,, I hope this helps,, 💖💖💖
Good ending! Siamese mix kitty! Mew mew! 😼💓😼💓
I wish to have a mare one day ❤️❤️❤️ ur so sweet guys
I find it hard to believe that a valuable Siamese kitten would be dumped on the roadside...
I wonder, some people are yust too heavy for the horses!
💝💝💝
Lovely to see so many adoptions. Just wondering do you do a follow up to check how their doing in their new homes?
There’s a Facebook group for adopters where you can post updates and stay in touch. :)
Want one,two,or maybe three
Want to help...
WANT TO HELP !
The mother dog looks a bit mangy, but nothing is impossible, can fatten up
Sybil was sooo pretty. I'm so sorry she couldn't be saved
Dose it bother anyone else when all these horses walk away as the people are getting on? That's always the fist thing I work on.
I’m not sure if blue dawn is cheaper than your shampoo, but it works just as good! In case you can’t find your usual flea/tick shampoo.
That's a zedonk
A blue siamese, who does that? Geesh, folks are nutty when, it comes to animals. SMH! Y'all are great miss Tawnee.
Please don’t scruff the cats,it’s traumatic for them. Its really not needed unless the cat is being aggressive. Not trying to be rude, just advice,I’m a small animal vet nurse.I don’t know too much about horses,I decided to specialize in small furries, but u guys seem to be doing a good job in TN👍🏻It is concerning to see larger people getting on horses that are too small though.Maybe u could clarify if they are intended for kids or different riders going forward.Might put people/supporters at ease.Keep up the good work!🐾
Take the bit out and the overproduction of salvia with stop helping the gut
how do you find out about a horse like a mini named cowboy. I inquired about a white pony with braids at the auction and never heard any thing. I think you do a great job. I donate every month. Linda
