    I rescued several horses at auctions here in Texas. One was a full-blood Egyptian Arabian. A horse trader had her, but she had a leg injury and could not be ridden. She had a very rare pedigree, and I found a breeder who knew the value in that. She became a broodmare, insured for $30,000. The retired racehorse was a broodmare thrown out on crappy pasture, and was skin and bones. Bold Ruler bloodlines. Sold her to my farrier's wife as a jumper, but she would throw her shoulder out landing. They found a young dressage rider looking for a new mount. Within 2 years, Bold Tabitha became a champion junior dressage horse, living in luxury. The Arab/Saddlebred foal had been severely inured in a fence and was about to be put down. It took months of work to get him through the injuries and infections. He became a competitive endurance horse. I was so glad to rescue them all and send them on to people who could help them reach their potential.

      Big lick is not ashamed of putting stacks on horses feet and rubbing gasoline and other irritants into their joints as well as putting chains so they smack and cause pain on the hoof...and slash the tentons in the tail. Having the horses sent to an auction once they cannot "perform" is literally what they do, it's not the first tennessee walking horse they rescued, there have been multiple, at least two I can remember were at the auction with stacks still on. Big lick doesn't care. There are legit tennessee walking horses' events in which you can see how the horses walk naturally, that's where you can see people that care about their gaited horses...

I simply love this shelter and wish I could send thousands. Do not feel bad about the small monthly amount (I give the same) because if every watcher or member did the same H+ would be able to do even more.

    How is big lick still legal is absolutely beyond my comprehension. Participation in big lick events is pretty much equal to admission to animal abuse, no horse looks and walks like that on their own accord. I honesly didn't know they cut tendons in their tails, which is now blatantly obvious and the horse has the scars to prove it. Disgusting. I really hope hell is real and that there is a special place reserved for such terrible (in)human beings.

    • @loveyoumost3262
      @loveyoumost3262 Před 3 lety +12

      They say they have regulated the industry but people still get away with a lot. They have technically made soring (the practice of putting caustic substances on the skin) illegal and pads can only be so large. Several trainers have been banned from showing as a result of breaking the rules. Vets are supposed to check horses at large big lick shows for evidence of soring prior to competition. That being said I’m sure a lot of people get away with things that they shouldn’t be getting away with.

    I can’t believe they haven’t outlawed big lick. Just an atrocious way to treat a horse. I also don’t get how anyone can just throw away a perfectly good horse or not just take care of euthanizing when it’s needed or try and re-home or call a rescue if they can’t take care of them anymore. Some people have no hearts or souls.

Thank God you saved him, precious baby in a cruel world if you had not saved him. You are all true angels. I loved horses ever since I was a very young child, horses are gorgeous, majestic, noble animals who should be treated with care and love in a perfect world. So happy I discovered your channel on Thurs 11-12-20. All of your horses are beautiful. Yes, if the horses are suffering and have no quality of life, putting them to sleep is the compassionate and humane decision to give them peace and end their misery. Thank you Tawnee, Jason, and Team Horse Plus Rescue. I have not been working since Dec 2014 due to chronic serious health problems. I keep praying and actively strive to regain my health so I may work and have an income again. Thank God I had the sense to save while I was working so I am living off my savings. When I have an income, I shall be so ecstatic to be able to donate to your rescue and help your funds to rescue all of these beautiful, precious horses and donkeys.
    Please keep us updated on the adorable, baby donkey. Praying he gains weight, makes friends with other donkeys or ponies, and maybe he can stay permanently with you to be your official Horse Plus Rescue Ambassador. Sweet adorable baby needs to be cared for and loved. Baby animals are extra special and precious.☺☺☺

    Good show Tawnee calling to let the people know that they had been taken advantage of! IF you are paid money to find a horse a home, you should not get paid twice for this animal! Especially when one is for a horrific death!!! I would be up one side and down the other of anyone deceiving me like this and demanded a refund to take that money and donate to a rescue like yours!!! Another great lesson learned from watching your videos. I shall tell anyone I hear about that doesn't care about the money, only the horses best interest, to just surrender them to a rescue so you can rest easy knowing your horse will not end up on kill list because the new owner is properly vetted by the rescue before they release them to a new owner!! Thank all of you! And a special thanks to the guys you have that can pick up the frightened little ones to get them loaded. Great going guys!!!

    I’m incredibly disgusted by kill buyers who inflate their prices and say they are trying to give them a chance to not go to slaughter. There is one particular kill buyer who begs for “stars” on Facebook and pretends they have the best interests of the horses at heart. People actually fall for it and send them a lot and support them.

    I have only recently found your channel and I’m heartbroken by what these poor wonderful sentient beings have to suffer and my admiration for all of you knows no bounds. I don’t understand why this is allowed to happen can you imagine the uproar there would be if people were to start treating their cats,dogs and other pets the same way because ,at the least , if you take on any animal you have a legal,moral and emotional duty of care to them and to do right by them. Thank you all and God bless you in your calling

I would rather donate money to the compassionate and honorable work y'all are doing than have these poor battered animals endure the brutal trip to slaughter you rescued them from!

    My aunt had a horse who was blind in one eye. He looked similar to the horse here 16:15. I will admit, I have not seen them in years and I don't know their horse's situation. I remember the story very vividly because it was the first time I had ever seen a horse. She said he was running in the paddock and slipped or ran straight into the fence. He must be very old by now. I haven't been able to visit them because they live states away. I hope they didn't dump their horses at an auction house.
    I'll ask my parents if they know anything about what happened or if they still have their horses. I have not been in touch with them for ages. The last time I was at their barn I was probably 12.
    EDIT: She still has them! My mom got in touch with her because I don't have Facebook and frankly don't want it on my phone. Sorry about that! She also lives like halfway across the country.

    You guys literally are heroes! Everything you do and decide is in the best interest of each horse, how people that allow these beautiful horses to end up in bad situations is beyond me and they should all face jail time! As for Tennessee walking horses I never knew this existed until now as I’m from the UK but this should be banned! Keep up the good work guys!

    I have watched video called the farm on Route 66 and they use WD-40 for for taking off the stickers he has investigated it and says it's very gentle and okay to use on the horses. They are in Arizona and that's what they use to take off the stickers WD-40 can be used for many uses so maybe try using that take off stickers that come with the horses from auctions. That way the horses can feel free from their old life. You guys are doing a wonderful job. Thank you so much for all that you do for these poor horses that nobody else care about!
