So good to be in the rinse mode. Let me know your thoughts about the "second listen" vibe - thinking of call the segment "Twice Baked" :)
It's honestly a really good idea because sometimes you might not be able to catch everything in the first listen.
Yes, please!!
Dig it! It's honestly a better use of your expertise and knowledge when you have a chance to hear it once or twice before.
Twice baked makes sense. Some songs definitely need a second listen lol
I hated the song at first and now I appreciate it and I hate myself for doing so
This song is so weird but I dig it. I'm all for whatever the new album is gonna bring.
This album's gonna be đ„
I listened to this at 2am while trying to get ti sleep and i lost my mind doing the vr in my bed lmao
The Stage pt. 2
So happy to hear this direction from them. As someone their age, I grew up hearing the change in real time. Very happy, with this proggy sound, feels about right where they should be!
â@@theonlyone992 the piano instrumental?
MORE AVENGED, MORE FOLD, MORE SONGS, MORE LOVE đ€
lmao
BUILD: SONG, BUILD: MUSIC, BUILD: JOHNNY, BUILD: D, BUILD: FLAT
I love how at 3:15 when he says "build wider" they mix his voice super wide in stereo on "wider," made me smile
This song is insane. Listen to it 50 times and youâll hear 50 new things.
As a 32 year old long time fan Matts voice is like home to me. What has stuck out to me in these two tracks is how raw his vocals sound. The guy is an absolutely incredible singer.
im happy to see that hes screaming again, its showing his voice is healthy again. he wouldnt scream if it wasnt and not comfortable with it, cant wait to see what else he can do now. his voice is honestly better than its ever been
@@skaresimpyy7830 I disagree. Aside from the way he does the new songs live, his voice sounds terrible for old songs like afterlife for exampleâŠ
If you told a CoE fan back in 2005 that this is what A7X would sound like today, I don't think they'd believe you. I, for one, love this new direction! I'm all for musical experimentation and genre-mixing!
100% agreed. If you want to listen the kind of music they made before... There is city of evil, nightmare, a7x, heil to the king right there...
There is no need to do more of the same, I loved It.
This has high Mr bungle vibes đđ»
If you were a Pinkly Smooth fan back in the day though, it wouldn't be even slightly surprising đ even without Jimmy, the chaos lives on
I am not familiar at all with any of their past work, but this sounds better than I expected from them based on the little I know.
@@user-os2io9yj4f Yes! I was thinking it oozed out Retrovertigo energy
It reminds me of when Queen dropped bohemian rhapsody, everyone has never heard such a mashup of vibes in one song.
This song is absolutely insane but honestly it makes me sooo excited for the whole album. Here I thought The Stage was my favorite album but I feel like this albums going to easily take the Nr.1 spot
The stage is soooo good
I'm sure you listened to the new album by now but yeah if you liked The Stage for its proggy underpinnings then you'll like the new album. I personally love how all over the place it is but it is still somewhat cohesive. Definitely one of those albums where I can't listen to one song on its own, it's a listen to it all straight through album for me.
@@mastod0n1 Yep love it, the weakest song from it IMO is Nobody but that's probably because it has the nightmare effect for me, nightmare is a fine song but the repetitive start + the fact every other song in the album is miles better kind of makes it seem bad. (best song is (d)eath I've had that shit on repeat for days!!!!!!)
@@deeeeniiiiss I've only listened to the album once through so I guess I'm gonna have to check it out more...more...more...than just once. I will say I've been repeating listening to We Love You and Easier. It just feels like Daft Punk got back together and decided to make a rock style album. Nobody is a great song too, and I see where you're coming from with the "repetitive" nature of it. But i think it shows more than just guitar in the song which means it's more rhythm based than a driving force in the song which I think makes it somewhat unique.
Read an article that said this song is Mr. Bungle inspired and you can hear it all over the place if you've listened to old Bungle a time or two, I love this!đ€
People were really worried Matt couldn't sing anymore. Dude sounds great here
Right, his screams sound the best they have in years.
You have no idea how happy I was waking up and seeing you be the absolute first to post a video for this.
Welcome back, Geebz! Don't leave us â€
I'll never leave :)
I and many fans did not think we would ever hear Matt screaming again. They went live last night for the first time since 2018 and I've seen some videos of it online and MAN. Matt sounds just as good live! He hasn't sounded this good live in like a decade
This song is suuuuper Mr Bungle inspired and I love it. I also hear call backs to creating God, Simulation, and ironically Sicko Mode with the transitions
The ending reminds me of the ending to Fermi Paradox
Yes BUNGLE vibes đŻ
8:13 screaming retrivertigo pretty much đ
Theyâve mentioned Sicko Mode during interviews as an inspiration for this album
@@andrewhassell9891 or gunslingers beginning
2:40-3:20 is gonna be goddamn circle pits.
this single shocked me on my morning. Headbanging and little dance.
whatever they does i will love it. we love them, we love you
that part is so CoE itâs fucking awesome
My interpretation of the inspirations behind the song:
0:00 - 0:32 Phlegmatics - Disco Volante - Mr Bungle (the instrumentals)
2:01 - 2:26 Snubb a Dubb - Mr Bungle - Mr Bungle (soft falsetto with the dreamy like instrumentals)
2:26 - 3:19 Sudden Death - Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo - Mr Bungle (Thrash metal with chaotic solo)
4:32 - 6:15 Retrovertigo - California - Mr Bungle (bittersweet and melancholic acoustic chords)
Theyâve gone and created a Bohemian Rhapsody(esq) structured song and found a way to add in a style from every Mr Bungle Album and still maintain the originally that makes Avenged Sevenfold so bloody good!
This song is a masterpiece!
Mr Bungle has always been one of their biggest influences, they're not shy about it
My first thought on hearing this song is that this album seems to be shaping up to be Avenged Sevenfold's Disco Volante, and I'm definitely here for it
@@SpookySkeleton738California is a more apt comparison I think
@@lukefenwick1607 I was thinking specifically of the very obvious Phlegmatics inspiration in this particular track, but after the full album's out, yeah.
It is sooooo different. But when they released Nobody, they said that it was middle of the road on the album. There would be weirder stuff and more traditional stuff. They also said even their die hard fans would hate the music. Which, Iâm not sure I agree w that. Iâve only listened to this once cause it dropped so late. The beginning threw me off, but I love it.
And, theyâve described themselves as progressive metal which is 100% spot on. I LOVED The Stage and Iâve been a fan of this direction.
This is so cool, one of the few bands that after a solid career decide to improve it going full experimental. The stage was proggy, but this is reaching avant-garde levels and I'm loving it , I hope the rest of the album to follow this sound.
This album is really letting Johnny and Brooks shine.
Thank you! My thoughts exactly!
This album will be considered a masterpiece in X years time.
The word âmasterpieceâ has been exponentially devalued
@@Law-Enduring-Citizen unfortunately yeah
I donât know if itâs a masterpiece but so far, itâs fucking good. A lot of people who hate on it want another generic album, but those albums are nothing musically. Most of the songs off self titled are basic pop songs played with metal instruments. Itâs why they were never taken very seriously as musicians and clowned on often. While I like their previous work, these last two albums are true artistic efforts from them, which I can certainly appreciate. This is them as artists trying to take you through a journey in music form, not just create songs any longer.
This band is so musically talented. I remember hearing from them about adding some Kanye West to it and I thought wth? It works and its awesome.
Been a fan for over a decade. I know their entire discography and they're without a doubt my favorite band. The band and the style grew and matured as I have. This isn't WTF, City, self titled, Nightmare or HTTK. It's all of those, thrown into a blender, served in a Stage cup, and I'm absolutely here for it. It's their Bohemian Rhapsody, their Siberian Breaks, their Knights of Shame, and I am so excited to hear the rest of the album
This band had been one of my favourites for a long time and they still manage to blow me away with they're creativity and experimentation, love it and can't wait for the album! Great reaction/review.
This is the perfect song to start this series, because you really can't get a feel for this song on 1st listen......or frankly any song off this new Avenged Sevenfold album. This series reminds me of the 1st time I listened to "The devil put dinosaurs here" album fom Alice in Chains. It was incredibly hard to listen to the 1st time around, but once I took a break and came back for the 2nd listen I had a complete 180 prospective of the album and its still one of my all-time favorites. I look forward to seeing where this series goes!
The song is a f#$@ing roller coaster and its super awesome. For me, the most anticipated album of my life and i know it won't disappoint
I love this one, very experimental but fun to listen and the guitar tone is incredible ! Strangely I find this one more accessible than Nobody because there is more groove and it's a bit like an acid trip. (and the heavy part in the middle was not expected, it gives me hopes for the album.)
melodies are very pink floydish too! love it
This song is absolute chaos and I love it, I seriously respect their willingness to experiment especially because shit like this is probably the worst possible thing for them commercially, they donât give a shit tho and just wanna make the music they wanna make and I really respect that. Canât wait to hear what other crazy shit is on the record. Anyway great video as always geebz
I noticed and love how so far both guitar solos were at the end. I like how theyâve spun everythingâs order
This one isnât⊠this oneâs over half way through bud not at the end thereâs still a chorus afterwardsâŠ
@@crazykiller001schannel5 I meant they both have a long outro which is a solo but yeah youâre right
This song is the definition of "this one grew on me"
As me and my mom discussed, I think it's like a journey through thier discography. Love the waking the fallen type beat in the middle. Excited for the new album! I'll be seeing them in Nashville in September!
Me too! I canât wait
Canât wait to see them in Vancouver ! Counting down the days and itâs more than a month away lol
Iâve loved their musical journey, recently watched an M Shadows interview and the man is just awesome, he doesnât want to regurgitate the same sounds. They love to experiment and to piss people off about the way theyâre changing things up.
I love it
For real. You want WTF sound, listen to WTF. Iâve been a fan for going on 20 years, and each album is unique, even their b-sides and covers have their own style. I love it.
GEEBZ. you're the man. WE LOVE YOU
I love the way Synester Gates is riding that one string out for like 5 seconds. Dragging the sound upwards
Heard the beginning of this song online a bit ago, but didn't get the chance to hear the rest. I really love how A7X is just having fun with it in later years, not worrying about being pegged as "a new genre or sound for them," but still hitting hard with Shadows' vocals (a *very* welcome surprise with this one!) and those sick back and forth's with the guitars.
Love it, Geebz! Hope the fresh feel to the channel treats you well, and many people like it. I think it's great!
Appreciate all you do, man. I'm still here, and keep on rocking!đ€đ€
Good to see you back
I had the pleasure and privilege of experiencing the new album early, in its entirety. Without spoiling too much, it is truly a work of art and unlike anything you'd ever expect from them. To sum it up, it's an intense journey that blends together a lot of different genres
Are the other songs of the album better? Because this song is not my favorite like Fiction.
This was a good song to breakdown. I think the devil wears Prada - termination was SO heavy sounding without actually being super heavy. That whole album was incredible.
Loving the album already ! Wow ! I feel like theyâre saying goodbye to usâŠâŠ. đą. So Beautiful Nobody and Now We Love you !
Been a fan since city of evil came out. I am in love with this song.
If you haven't listened already, "Sidewinder" from their album "City of Evil" has a similar tonal shift at the end, that I also absolutely love.
I don't tend to get excited about music, but this album's got me excited.
Holy fuck this song has been on repeat all day
As weird as this track and nobody (the other single) is, I'm glad they are doing it. I love old avenged but I like the direction they are going. It's fresh and it's new. I do think The Stage is a good transition to this type of Avenged.
What they mean by 360 video is that when you watch it on youtube just click and drag on the video, you can see in all different directions geebz
Between Nobody and this song, i'm beyond excited for the rest of the album
A7x have been no strangers to pushing boundaries in the genre, but The Stage as an album really set a bar for the abstract
I'm happy to see that not only are they keeping with the theme of existentialism, but are doubling down on said abstract song composition
If the rest of the tracks are even half as good, we are in for a treat; but I have a feeling the best is yet to come
I'm all for the 'Better the second time' format, whatever suits you the best đ
I swear I keep saying it sounds like a Mr. Bungle song With a 2023 Avenged Sevenfold new sound style :)
Ha, got to agree with you on that!!
They actually cover one of their songs, "Retrovertigo" in The Stage Deluxe album.
@@KeyOfGeebz a band that I fancy very well, Twelve Foot Ninja. Massively understand band. I would LOVE to see a react to Long Way Home by them!
Underrated***
This song is so good!
Everytime i hear "more" it speeds up. That's some top grade writing and instrumentation!
If you ever needed a track to listen to a second time, this would be the one! Much love man, I'm always happy seeing your content. We love you!
I always listen to every song 10 times in a row at least, doesn't matter what song. This song specifically, is getting better and better, breakdown, musicality, the melody, the creativity, the journey. It's amazing, just amazing. I'm seeing them at MSG, so excited!!!
I just watched a reaction video to "nobody" from a guitarist whose criticism included him saying that the singer "sounded bored." As a vocalist, I appreciate your understanding of what it takes to get your instrument to go from sweet tones to gritty growls isn't just a switch you can stomp. It's like trying to figure out how to wiggle your ear, but harder.
Love this band it only gets better
So pumped you did this brudda!! This album is something special. I hope this opens the floodgates to popular bands experimenting with their formulas.
This song same as the last single âNobodyâ at first I wasnât a fan but after like 3 total listens they definitely grew on me and Iâm very excited for this new album.
I always love coming across your vids! Thanks for putting in the time
I love when musicians color outside the lines and get experimental.
This is a super cool twist on reactions!! Makes me super happy to get to hear your interpretations in depth and thought out.
Love the idea of the second listen! Gives you so much more of a chance to say everything you want to. Can't wait to see some more of this especially when this full album comes out
I most give you the thanks, I didnt notice some parts of the song until you were pointing it out and it made me pay more attention to different tricks they were making, always happy to hear from you Geebz
So glad youâre come back! â€
I think in a few decades critics will look to later Avenged Sevenfold work as modern progressive avant-garde metal aproach to Pink Floyd \m/
Definitely a song you have to listen to more than once đ thank you for doing this!
You are back with a bang! And so glad to see it! I hadn't heard this one yet, and plan on rocking it at work tonight. Thanks for all that you do for the music enthusiasts. Everyone always needs to take a second listen, no matter what the context.
Geebz is back!! Love the new formatđ€đŒđžđž
So happy you're back. I only recently discovered your channel and I've been addicted since
Nice song for a comeback, happy to see you geebz, great song!
Hell yea man! I love this band. And I also enjoyed your video and insights on music. Will subscribe.
glad to see u back sir!!!! đ
Geebz, it's a nice format! In some cases it's important for us subscribers to see the genuine first time reaction, but being able to hear a more weighted and detailed analysis of what's going on is really important too, and it's also what draws people to your channel - and it's definitely more weighted and full after a second listen.
Amazing review ! We wouldn't mind watching both of your listens back to back ! Also this band is beyond talented and their musicianship is unmatched
I actually very much enjoy the idea of this new approach. I think hearing your analysis of the songs is the most important part. Whether or not it's your first or second listen.
Thank you for coming back!
I am not the biggest fan of A7X but a fan of your content đ€đ»
Its crazy how the guitar tone and setup in the "build" parts sounds like metallicas old Mesa Boogie tone
Glad to see you back, Geebz! Not a fan of this band, but the last two singles are really interesting, definitely gonna check the album
This is a really good idea. I always thought it would be interesting to do look backs to see how your opinions on movies and music changes over time as well
Thought you were taking a break my friend nice to have you still here, love hearing your thoughts!
Great video man!!
Very cool new format Geebz! I'm glad to see you're back! Avenged is such a fun band to analyze.
And If you're looking for new bands to check out, try the newest Cattle Decapitation song Scourge of the Offspring. A lot to dissect with this one!
That is so great. What a good idea to listen it twice to give us a more accurate idea of what you want to talk about and explain.
OMG I totally dig this trac, can't wait for the new albummmmm
Excellent breakdown. You get it.
You can click and drag the video right on youtube, it has a 360 environment all around the camera. Would highly recommend playing around with it, I absolutely loved it
I'd suggest this with most bands but especially avenged sevenfold. You should go through the discography on your own time and listen to a track or two from each album just to see the change/growth but one thing has always stayed strong and true and thats the composition and way they set they layer everything. It's really cool as a fan from The Sounding of the Seventh Trumpet to see how far they've came.
This song slaps man. So wacky but I actually love it. That âchuggingâ section hits hard. I love it.
I actually didn't like Nobody until I heard this song because it helped me understand the concept and themes they're going for with this album. I loved this song on first listen, and now I also think Nobody is one of the most intelligent songs they've ever written. I'm super excited to hear the rest of the album.
I'm here for the 2nd listen! I like hearing your thoughts on the song so this way we get more of that!
This is my first listen to this song. I think Avenged Sevenfold created their own Stairway to Heaven.
This seems like it would be a fun song to play guitar and bass wise.
This album seems it's going to be very experimental.
YES THANK YOUUUU
What an amazing track!
i really like the second listen reaction idea. unique
So good to see you Geebz! Iâd really like to hear your thoughts on the band Nothing More. They have saved rock for meâŠthey probably saved me too. And their live show is the best Iâve ever seen. Your reviews are so relatable, educational, likeableâŠthanks for doing what you do!
Fully agree! Second listen hit differently, especially the ending. Gives Floyd vibes!
I love that I can hear Johnny a lot more and doing more on the bass I fuckin love this direction
I heard the album yesterday. Seeing them live tonight. This album is one of those albums that canât really be explained in words. Itâs soooo different. In all the best ways.
How did you hear the album?
Nobody took me a couple listens to start enjoying but this I loved from the first listen
This is great!
Youâre the man GeebZ
Hmmm. With the main part of the song being an indictment of modern society and the bluesy end, it seems like a more mellow Great Southern Trendkill
Glad you dug the track! Itâs completely different but they deserve some more love so I highly recommend the band âMakariâ! The track âBetterâ is awesome but I recommend it specifically because if youâd like, thereâs also a live acoustic version available for you to listen to here on CZcams, along with the standard version with the music video!
