I have same scooter (zero 10x) and it’s been very reliable for the almost two years I’ve owned it. It’s great that the Varla version comes standard with hydraulic brakes and a spare tire tube ! It is a heavy scooter, but I can accept that because it is so well made & robust đŸ‘đŸ»

Comment 1:Hey there! I came across a new project that you might be interested in. It's called the freebeat Morph 2-in-1 eBike. It offers a unique indoor recharge feature, where you can charge the bike while cycling indoors. I've been using a similar scooter, the zero 10x, for almost two years and it has been incredibly reliable. I love that the Varla version comes with hydraulic brakes and a spare tire tube. While it may be a bit heavy, the durability and robustness make up for it. Can't wait to see what the Morph eBike has to offer!Comment 2:Nice to see another satisfied scooter owner here! Varla scooter complaints...
I just got my Varla EagleOne scooter a couple days ago and have less than 20 miles on it. I do have a couple complaints but they don’t outweigh the good things about it. I love the ride quality, it’s very comfortable, it’s very torquey on acceleration even using eco mode. I also Lobe the power of the brakes (even on the steepest hills in San Francisco), although they said on their site that they were anti lock brakes, I’m not sure at what speed, but it seems I was able to lock the rear tire a few times coming into deliberately hard stops for testing.
Some of my complaints may not be the same with other people, but
    1. Ever since I received the scooter, the rear wheel squeaks every revolution at lower speeds from walking it to up to about 7 mph, and it’s a little annoying. I had submitted a review on the Varla site but see that they must filter out any negatives because my comments never showed up (even though I was giving them a four out of five rating). It seems as if the squeaking is brake pads related.
    2. Varla claims that the scooter will travel at speeds of 40+ mph, but even at what I feel an average weight of 185lbs, on flat level smooth ground average temperature day, I can’t get the scooter past 35 mph--that is actually quite fast, but definitely falls far short of their claims of 40+
    3. I’ve seemed to have a little trouble with the double locking clamps for the fold down procedure. I think there could be a much better way for engineering the locking of the sleeve that needs to be lifted for fold down the handlebars. Every time I get one side really tight, then the other on is loose, you tighten that one and it’s clamped harder so that the first one needs to be tightened MORE than before. It’s seems a little inconvenient to be transporting it once a day in your car just because of the clamping that has to be delt with. In all fairness it’s not HARD to do, but to get them right takes a few tries and a little longer than just simply latching something. I’ve found if they’re not really tight then the handle bar stem/pole slightly moves back and forth upon acceleration and deceleration, and makes a rubbing sound.
    4. I’m not happy with the lighting on the scooter. It does look cool from the front and rear, but certainly doesn’t provide enough light for you to have a safe night travel. You will be seen, but the lights just don’t light up your path well enough.
    5. Im not happy with the fact that the folding down of the handle bars have no place to latch it in the down position., they just kind of swing or sway left and right while down.
    Things to note:
    1. it would have been nice to have a USB port to charge your phone, and an option for a phone holder.
    2. It would have been nice ce to have solid rubber tires to illuminate all possibility of a flat tire
    3. A battery percentage indicator would have been nice opposed to just a 5 bar indicator, and I’ve found that the last bar never gets consumed, the scooter dies prior to depleting the last bar., this can leave you hanging a little bit not knowing exactly how much farther you can go. â˜č
    4. I feel that the scooter should have come standard with a top mounted headlight instead of charging $60 afterwards
    5. Engineering on the sliding sleeve for the folding down of the handlebars should be improved, i.e. A threaded sleeve that clamps down when you twist it.
    6. A thin strip of side lighting would have been a nice added Saftey feature
    7. NOTE: this scooter DOES give you a great value for the dollar amount ($1699.00), even though I have some complaints, and am unhappy about a couple things, doesn’t mean I am unhappy overall with the scooter--I’m just unhappy about some things. I DON’T REALLY SEE ANY OTHER ALTERNATIVE SCOOTERS AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET TO GET YOU THIS MUCH SCOOTER FOR THE PRICE.
I have been having a blast through the streets of San Francisco and traveling anywhere cars, bicycles or people can go, and discovering small little cool places that I ever knew were there going by in my car. Just today, I rode the EagleOne from downtown financial district San Francisco, all the way to and over the Golden Gate Bridge, down the hill into and all over the city of Sausalito, brought the EagleOne back the entire distance and still had another couple miles left. (Traveled with my 5 year old daughter the entire way bringing us to a total FUN RIDE of 28 miles!! We only turbo boosted a couple times, but we’re in ECO mode the entire trip.
Even with my complaints and suggestions, I give this scooter an overall rating of 4 out of 5. If you decide to get one, you will have made the right choice! :-)

      @erikl85 Pƙed rokem +1

This is a physics issue, not a brake issue. Front brakes always provide a significant portion of your overall braking power, up to 75% or so on most vehicles. With a front brake, your braking power comes from the friction between the front wheel and the ground. This point is in front of your center of mass, which means that as you apply the brakes, the weight of you and your bike acts like a lever, pushing the tire down into the pavement, increasing the friction

I also see it as an alternative to actual disability scooters (for some folks), I also see the possibility of attaching a trailer to a scooter to haul groceries back from shopping, and even for small businesses to use to for work (such as window washers, window sign painters). I know this because I have personally seen different bicycles with various creative trailers people have used to utilize to get things done.
