The economy would be a lot bigger due to the ease of trade within that country so it will probably bigger than the uk and India. The biggest problem Africa has is that, it is a largely an extractive continent where other countries buy raw material and value to them and also lack of trade between countries. If Africa localised its value creation even to the initial phase and goods would move easily across the continent with one single currency backed by commodities, it would probably be in the top 3/4 richest countries.
It would not be easier to trade at all. The best way to trade is through seas routes yet a United Africa would have bad penetration into the interior of the country. All the trade would literally have to travel around the cape of South Africa which would be time consuming. Would not recommend a United africa at all for various reasons, and I say that as an African.
@@mugikuyu9403 rail is the second best way to transport goods. It wouldnât be hard. Nice thing about rail. It has less wear and tear than road transport and it also can boost tourism in the form of passenger rail which is much more faster than cargo ships.
It is not by chance that the UK wanted to build rail from Cape Town,South Africa to Egypt. Africa can also make importing from other continents expensive by getting rid of levies between African countries, increasing levies from overseas counties and encourage obtaining financing within the continent using an African currency.
The problem we need to fix is consolidating countries by encouraging small countries with small economy and population especially those who are landlocked to join neighbouring countries that have a dominant economy in their region this will decrease unnecessary beucracy and will encourage development.

What youâve said about levies is also very true but western nations, especially America, fight very hard to make sure that countries all around the world have âfreeâ trade agreements in place which obviously impacts industry in the countries that sign. We definitely should rethink some of the trade deals we have signed and perhaps refocus our energy on inter-African trade as youâve said. It would benefit very single African.
About consolidating countries into larger more ethnically diverse countries, this is where you and I differ. I actually donât like the current situation we find ourselves in with huge multi-ethnic countries all over the continent. Our languages are slowly dying out and being replaced by Indo-European languages. Iâm not willing to give up the language that my ancestors passed down to me for someone elseâs, nor am I willing to give my ethnic if identity away for anything other than a pan-Bantu identity. The solution is not, in my eyes, fewer and bigger nations but rather more ethnically homogenous ones United under a federal government.
Personally Iâd like to see the middle of the continent, all the Bantu lands, United into a pan-Bantu Federation. Each ethnic group would get a homeland where their ethnic language would be used while a second agreed upon language of unity (like Lingala or Kikongo) would be taught in every country thatâs part of the federation. Think of the EU and how it currently operates. Every single country thatâs a part of the European Union has English as a significant second language and that allows Europeans to understand each other across borders, but every ethnic group also has its own state where their language and customs are dominant. This is what I would want for Bantu peoples but slightly different nonetheless.

If they were to unite it wouldnât last long. Nations and Empires that have had multiple languages and multiple ethnicities were almost always way less stable than homogenous ones.
Yugoslavia, Austro-Hungary are two great examples of this. But Africa is one the most diverse places on Earth and the idea of one country having 2,000 languages and remaining stable is completely implausible.
India does it. Same for Indonesia. Both have several hundred languages spoken (200 for India, 700 for Indonesia). So do, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Brazil, Mexico and others. Technically, even the US and Europe, with their important immigrant population of very different origins, are ethnically and linguistically very diverse.
