    Dear Harry, I'm glad to see that you finally decided to take the ferry and come to Spain. I appreciate did you have a fantastic trip and stayed in the right hotels. I praise your good judgement. Regarding the absolute lack of sports cars on the road enjoying our mega-roads, there is a triple explanation: 1) In Spain both sports cars and speed have been demonized. The stantard driver drags along, painfully, with an ugly SUV. 2) During this vacation, everyone has gone to the coast to enjoy the beach, so the interior regions have been empty for a week. 3) One of the regions where you were, the Upper Tagus, is one of the emptiest regions in Europe, with a population density lower than that found in Lapland. I love your channel, please keep making great videos and brightening up our Sunday afternoon. Greetings from Madrid.

Having grown up in the UK separated from him in the south of Italy, our few memories shared together were through cars. Finding your channel has reignited all those fond memories - the smell of engine oil, the smell of cigarettes and black coffee, the beautiful campagna roads of God's natural race track.

    Oh, as a Swede how this made me miss Spain, (it's wonderfull views, roads and weather), when I see this. 10 years ago I lived in Spain with my then wife (who is from Spain), who had started a dog kennel for Italian greyhounds that I too was a part of. One important thing with having a kennel is that you have to travel to dog-shows to show the dogs, so there was a lot of traveling all over Spain and I had the same experience as you: it is vast, the scenery is jaw-dropping and the roads are superb and mostly empty. We traveled with all the dogs and dog-show-stuff in a 2007 Renault Scenic dCi - a really comfy mile-eater and much less heavy on the fuel with 5 liters/100 km. The only draw-back was that the only things I got to see, except from the wonderful vistas, was crowded, noisy, a frankly mindnumbingly boring dog-shows. Would love to go back to just travel arround at random and see all the nice places we just passed by... Roads you should travel, if you haven´t done it: the N211 from Alcañiz towards Madrid (or vise versa) and all along the northern coast. I have to confess that Spain is the country where I have driven the fastest for the longest time - once before the dog-kennel time, me and my wife drove a Ford Focus across Spain from Bilbao to Barcelona, doing 180 km/h for hours on end. The roads were smooth as F1 circuits and totally empty!

    Wonderful video all the way through, had me glued to the screen!! Fantastic work and effort, this is pure enjoyment.
    The car is a a jewel, gorgeous, but it drinks the fuel so fast… you really need to have some big bugs to maintain it!
    As some people say, speed is demonised here, the authorities want to collect as much money as possible, and they really don’t care about our security. Every year they are making us have more troubles when getting the car. If you want to go for a fast ride the best option is a track day (probably not cheap, but cheaper than a fine for sure) or do it in a radar free zone you know well of some highway at night, when there is no traffic and the weather allows it.
    Finally, I think there is a big car culture in our country, but obviously not as much as in Italy or the UK. Many people organize events and classic cars reunions, but they tend to not have too much attention

    Agree. Here in Spain is not like other countries (e.g. best example is Germany) in relation to car culture. Also you won't see beyond regions like Madrid & Barcelona city and some few others, "sport cars", or like in Puerto Banus and surroundings, where many EU and Arabian goes for vacation and bring their sport cars.
    One of the factors, here in Spain, is the cost of buying a car is expensive, between VAT, registration tax and others, luxury and powerful cars could cost you around 30-35% of the value of the car being taxes, also the GDP per capita compared to other EU countries is not so high, that's why you will see mainly small cars as top sellers. Plus beyond SEAT, there is no "historic" car brands, like Italy.
    Also historically the government and their "traffic" management branch, the DGT, always criminalized anything related to cars and impose strong restrictions in everything related to it everywhere. For instance in this video, if you were a spaniard, the "Guardia Civil" as they are the traffic control police (except Vasque country and cataluña), for some actions in the video and taking the video itself as a proof, they could you impose the corresponding tickets, considering in some places it was driving over the speed limit or due some accelerations considering it reckless driving, etc... (really stupid, but is the philosophy here..) The investment in speed cameras is relevant, for instance there are several helicopters with speed cameras. The police is "pushed" hard to impose traffic tickets for everything to allow the government take plenty of money (big part of the treasury of the DGT with the tickets goes to other government sectors as cashpool). Also here if you drive an expensive car, there is a culture here to treat you as d....head, there is quite a lot of jealous people, that's why also many people is reluctant to drive their expensive cars regularly.

      LMAO, that's all bullshit. The "car culture" in Spain is weak not because speed tickets or whatever (just try speeding in any other country), but because in Spain sports cars are seen as status items more than anything else. That's why Harry didn't see sports carts in secondary roads. All the rich kids stick to places where they can show off. They won't go to rural areas for that.

    Two items worth mentioning:
    The 930 (and all air-cooled 911's I presume) must have the oil checked with the engine running. Also, 930s are spec'd to accept higher-viscosity motor oil, typically 20w50.

    aircooled engines are tuned a bit richer AFR. And turbo engines also.
    That said, it seems too rich. I'd have the coldstart enrichment checked. If it keeps overfueling the engine will use too much fuel all the time at all revs.
    Maybe the elevation is also a factor? Less oxygen the higher you go.

    • @PorscheRacer14
      @PorscheRacer14 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Kizzle001 There's not much you can tune mechanically on these cars. It's through the DME which means soldering and flashing. You can try, but you're essentially just taking driveability away or performance or both. The stock DME might have a fuel selector dial for "better performance" but it means super premium fuel at all times. Unless the entire DME and parts of the ignition is replaced, that's it. But it has it's charm in being what it is. Unless Ian's shop has the people to do these things, which I'd love to see. That kind of wizardry seems to be a lost art now.
