You're emotional because you're listening to music with substance, no autotune here, it's raw and emotional. This is the way music suppose to be.
exactly
I'm sure he has listened to plenty of rap that was raw and emotional, but that music is full of a different emotion than this. If all you ever hear is songs about rage and violence, then songs about beauty and love are new to the senses.
It means you're understanding the music, not just listening to it. Your appreciation will just grow and grow now.
I said after watching my first review, here’s a young man who was born 20 years late
Right On. The moment he felt he was going to cry... You are going to cry. When a song can bring out emotion like this, that's the best.
Im 66 and your feeling the same emotions every LYNYRD SKYNYRD fan feels .
Absolutely
I played this at my husband's funeral. He was a special, special, simple kind of man. Miss him so much.
So sorry for your Loss Ma'am.
My condolences on your loss 💔🙏
You said "I don't know whats wrong with me lately, songs get me emotional"
Ain't nothing wrong with you homie, thats what music is supposed to do to us.
If it doesn't it's not worth your time. Good emotions or sad emotions as long it makes you feel something.
Songs getting you emotional is one of the positives that age delivers, alongside the things that it can take away.
"Was I ever that young?" and "I will never be again." BUT...the music takes back to those times long past, and for a few minutes, I'm reborn. It's one of the pleasures that make the passing of time, and those we love, somewhat more bearable...because when the music takes me back, they're there with me.
My son was driving me in his car when this came on the radio. He looked at me and said, "Mom, this song is exactly what you have told me." I had sat him down a short time before and talked to him about what, I believe, is truly important. He was about to enter the Marines. This was while we were still at war with Iraq and Afghanistan. He is my only son and my only child. I'm so grateful he took my words and their lyrics to heart. Thank you for feeling this.
Lean, first off please tell your son WELCOME HOME AND THANK YOU! because of him and the ones he seved along, my grandchildren grew up safe and FREE. my Ma can identify with you, I was an only child also ( poor gal had 3 mis carries 1 before me and 2 after me. I was only 2 lbs 13 Oz. When I was born and wasn't expected to live, this was back in ' 69 ) . When I went into the Submarine force in '87 she always worried. Her and my Step Dad raised me the same. Thank you also MA'AM for giving up your son for our Nation's call. I know it must have been scary. I'm so glad he came home!!
Welcome home and Semper Fi to your son.
The more Skynyrd you listen to, the more you will like!
I'm 74 and my skin is crawling by the time he starts singing. Always has...
Everyone has their favorites, but I think this is Skynyrd's best song. Simple, profound, and utterly timeless.
This song makes me want to cry every time I hear it. This is one of the greatest songs ever written.
The drummer is alive
Southern Rock is a genre all its own. Nothing else like it.
Another great song is Tuesday's Gone. Both are so beautifully done.
They are an iconic southern rock band
You can't go wrong with SKYNYRD
"Songs are making me emotional". Music is SUPPOSED to engage an emotion. There a song for every moment. When you start connecting to music because of the art instead of the most printed artist, a whole world opens up.
This is the song we played at my only son funeral. It reminds me so much of him.
I’m sorry for your loss sir.
@@Antiwoke1 heartfelt thanks
Hugs
skynyrds music touches people like that this is every mans band
This song gets me every time...im 42 and play in a death metal band, but I've still got a mum that i love..... this song translates, and thats why it makes you feel the way it does
You can't imagine the good memories I get when I listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Great parties and places.
Lynyrd Skynyrd. Best road trip music EVER.
A great reaction to a great track. Don't feel no way about getting emotional. I'm 58 and have been listening to this forever, and I still get teary eyed listening to this.
It's good to see such a youngster appreciating music from another generation.
51 here.grew up In jacksonville
Nothing wrong with having feelings man. "And be a simple kind of man; oh, be something YOU love and understand..." Rock on.
This song makes a lot of people cry!
Tuesday's Gone, Gimme Three Steps, Things Goin On, I Need You, Call Me The Breeze and on and on...Skynyrd has many songs that will put you in a mood or snap you out of one. I've been a fan for 40 years. One of my top 3 favorite bands.
ONE of the BEST SONGS EVER!!❤
I so enjoy the younger generation learning about bands from the past. I was a junior in high school when their plane crashed and was devastated. It’s the music of my teen years.
I was 16 and had tickets to see them a week later in Columbus, Ohio when the plane crashed. I knew at the time I would regret it, but I decided to get a refund, can’t imagine why I did.
There are two people still alive that were onstage at the Oakland concert. A background singer and the drummer Artemus Pyle.
I was in basic training
This makes everyone a bit teary man. It's not just you. It's new to you to feel this way, because rap music isn't about beauty and love; it's about rage and anger. Those songs touched you too, just in a different way.
My son is now 30 years old & I’ve dedicated this precious song to him since he was a tiny little baby🥰🎶
This is the song my mom and I danced at my wedding . Every time I hear it it always hits me. Love this song. Lynyrd Skynyrd is a great band!!
This is probably the best song ever written.
I lost my son at the age of 23 in 20 09 . I played that song at his Funeral 😢💜 He lived to fast💜
So sorry 😞
Bless you, your son, and all your family, ma'am.
THAT is what Skynyrd does to ya
❤❤❤️❤️
Don’t feel uncomfortable about the emotions, music can be powerful and deeply profound. Wether is makes us cry, smile, gives us energy or helps us relax, not to mention regardless of lyrics at times how it just fits so magically as a soundtrack to our own lives and memories.
Especially if you stay in the wheelhouse of mid 60’s to mid 90’s music which is the greatest era of music without question and created at least 95% of the greatest music ever produced. 🤙🏻
This is hands down my favorite and arguably their most emotional song. I tear up EVERYTIME I hear it.
Southern Rock has a unique sound, and Lynyrd Skynyrd were/are the pinnacle of that style and sound. So yes, much of what you will hear from them has this same feel... and it all has the ability to get to the very depths of your soul.
What every mum wants for her son.
I cry every time I hear this song. Since it first came out when I was 15.
All of the other people who do reaction videos are nothing compared to you. Remarkably you are airing your vulnerable side, when listening to songs by men singing about real life and their vulnerabilities. You seem like a really nice person. Im a 62 year old lady and appreciate you. You will probably be a good dad!
Thank you, that means a lot
@@MollyBoyTV I have a favorite song suggestion for you. It's called foreplay/longtime by Boston very good. Take care
Think about an enery-charged coliseum full of people, all vibing to this song, singing out the chorus, thousands of lighters in the crowd, all swaying to the music. Unreal. This was easy to pick out as a Skynyrd song. Iconic sound.
Your discovery of the music, as well as what is within yourself, made me tear up more than the lyrics did!
Music has the power to move the world .. I am glad you are finding that out .. This older music had soul in it .. Most of today's music is soulless and just words that rhyme . No real meaning behind it .. it can't touch your soul , like the music from the 60's 70's 80's .
Many new songs are evil. Sodom and Gomorrah revisited.
This song is universal. All of us have a mother, a lot of us have children, so it just speaks to everyone. Another universal song that I feel almost everyone can relate to is “Night Moves” by Bob Segar.
💯.
Also, running against the wind. It was a hit when I was in high school and I played it a lot on my turntable and it's funny how is I've gotten older it keeps on taking on new meaning.
A lot of songs are about sons or mothers but do not touch your soul.
@@judigrumm7190 what is your point exactly? I was specifically referencing this song. My opening sentence started with “this song” .
Is debating and arguing over mundane comments that have no consequence a hobby?
Wasn't arguing. I was saying, yes, this song is special. It's actually my ringtone. Is your hobby rude responses? @kikivon3501
@@judigrumm7190 Nope, that was my bad. I guess you can chalk it up to our “modern” methods of communication, words typed out without an actual person in front of you to gather more non-verbal information like tone of voice, and facial expressions often falls flat. I misinterpreted your comment.
Basically the song meaning is follow your heart and don't let anyone or anything change that. Weather you succeed or fail you will have no regrets
You’re heading down a great journey. I was a teen in70’s.. I have listened to the music in every generation, although there is still a lot of fun songs out there, the 70’s is the best. They had meaning and each hits you different. The expressions were real and heartfelt. Each band had its own style. When you finish a song and it makes you feel genuinely good and happy, you just got a glimpse of the simple times our generation had. Enjoy
Sweet home Alabama is their song!!!
But, I would put on any record in the 70's and just lay down upside down in my bed and zone out.. just FEEL the music! I loved it!
…..you know when music makes you feel…. and connects your soul, that’s all you can ask for 🔥❤️🎸🤘🏼
Satanic hand sign. Made popular by Knights in Satan's Service (KISS).
Simple song simple message but soooo deep in meaning timeless song and a great life lesson..
I love being 43 watching a younger person enjoying music that I was not only influenced to listen to, but also music that I grew up listening to as it came out.
It’s really so simple. It’s just an emotionally beautiful song. You feel this one. We’re all children, after all. ❤❤❤
This is a beautiful emotional song and maybe their best, certainly one of their best. This style of music is called Southern rock.
Lynyrd Skynyrd That Smell, ROCKIN anti-drug song, fav from them!!
And Needle and the Spoon!
Whiskey Rock and Roller, Gimme Three Steps, Call Me The Breeze
One of the true "3 chord wonders " An amazing song.
The old saying is good music makes you feel something but great music touches your heart and soul and it will live in forever
It is a beautiful song. I sang it to my son when he was born then danced to it at his wedding.
Skynyrd was a great band. Now you've heard two of their most brilliant songs, try "Tuesday's Gone". You won't be sorry. Great reaction!
That's the Skynyrd trifecta.
The ballad of Curtis Loe wouldn't be a bad one either.
@@brianfogle2743 I’ve always loved Gimme Three Steps. ✌️
Great fantastic suggestions.
We played this at my uncle’s funeral. It fits him to a T. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
This has been my ring tone for years. It is a fantastically emotional song.
These lyrics are amazing- as the mother of a boy- this is every mother's wish for her son.....
great iconic Southern Rock...my buddy played this song at his mother's funeral a long time ago...will ALWAYS remember that...good wisdom in this! great react...
You feel emotional because you have a soul and this music touches the soul. It's not only because of the band's tragedy, it's how great music makes you feel. As you get deeper into great rock of all types you'll find this from so many different artists. This is the real stuff that all us older people are always banging on about, lol!
This song will give you chills ...it's does me I grew up in jacksonville, florida my brother that passed away in 1983 went to school with these guys by they were famous .so yeah proud of our hometown Boys shame they are all gone
Their plane crashed about 30-35 miles away from where I graduated High School. R.I.P. RVZ gone but never forgotten. Ronnie didn't write his lyrics down because if they had to be written on a piece of paper, then they weren't good enough.
This is a group of people making music for you. There’s not a lot of technology involved so it’s very human.
They sounded just as good in concert! Loved em and saw them every time they came here!
Some of the best Southern Rock. This is music from the heart and you are feeling that.
I KNOW all genres. I was as the ripe age for ALL genres. My household as a child was all of rock n roll. As a teen in the 80's I had a younger brother that gravitated to rap. Because of him I got into Snoop Dog big time & everything that was hip at the time..absolutely loved! I can say 100% that the rock n roll genre will always be here to stay in my heart deeply. Rap is a genre that can go.I will not miss. II am well rounded in rap. I can say that rock n roll is dear to my heart.🔴
Everyone as a collective loves this song. I've never met anybody who doesn't know of this song, and does not like the song. Its perfect.
I got goosebumps watching your reaction.
Since we're on their debut album, I recommend "Gimme Three Steps."
It's a funny recollection by Ronnie Van Zant about an incident he experienced when he was 18. He came up with the lyrics on his way home that night.
Ronnie never wrote down any of his lyrics, it was all in his head.
Yesss! That's my favorite song of theirs! (next to Free Bird, of course)
I was born in 1960…..this my generation…..best music ever came 60s 70s. Driving in my Firebird windows open music blasting. Smoke in one hand beer between the knees ….going to a party!!! If I could go back……..
I love your reactions. You’re just a likable, honest guy. There’s no falseness in your videos. You really ought to play Saturday Night Special, Call Me the Breeze, and Sweet Home Alabama for a different, non-melancholy view of their repertoire. Those are all very famous songs and deservedly so.
You mentioned the playing of Freebird in Forrest Gump when Jenny was about to jump. Did you also notice that very early in the movie when she and Forest were young and running through the cornfield hiding from her father? She said she wished that she could be a bird and fly away.
That movie has a great soundtrack.
The difference between older/old music and the so called music of today is that it used to be about music. You could have something as simple as one guy on stage playing a guitar and singing and that was beautiful! Now it's all about the show and the costume changes and background dancers and auto-tune and electronically created music.
Probably my favorite Skynyrd song, but they have a lot of awesome music!
This song was played at my best friends funeral, requested by his mother after him and his girlfriend were killed in a car accident. As a guitar player I still will not learn to play it. RIP JB
The Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd album which Freebird and Simple man are from is outstanding.
I don't know how it's possible, but Shinedowns cover of this song is as powerful. It's indescribable!!!
Deaftones does a great cover as well
Tuesdays Gone is a beautiful Skynyrd song and not too hard to play
I'm a middle-aged guy in the American Midwest and I grew up with Lynyrd Skynyrd and the plane crash happened when I was in junior high and it was really kind of devastating. But I love their music and I'm a musician of many decades.
But I also have always liked rap. I was around when it started basically and I ran with it ever since it was first there. It's hard to keep up with everything now it's kind of like sipping from a fire hose, but I do love a lot of it, like any genre is going to have some bullshit in it but there's going to be some gems hidden away in there as well. And then there's just good stuff. I like the party stuff and I like the stuff with a message as well, like Blackalicious and KRS-1 and Eminem and Lauren Hill, but I like some of the party stuff as well and I really love certain Nicki Minaj cuts, I've been following her since her first mixtape out of Queens in 2008. She's funny as hell and a lot of it has such great textures to it and it's almost like sound poetry sometimes.
But Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of those bands where I literally like every song on their several album catalog. Just amazing stuff. I really do generally recommend listening to their album Cuts first to hear what we all heard on the radio and what we heard on the albums and what got played in the bars and so forth.
That Smell is 🔥
Its southern rock it has own style ..look for it ..its a style of its own
molly boy, youve found the soul of rock n roll
Top 10 all time songs for me
This was the song my son chose for the Mother/Groom dance at his wedding. Both my kids (now in their 30's) are well versed in 70's rock, well taught by me.
Congratulations, you have been introduced to one of the greatest, most heartfelt songs of all time. Now listen to their song Tuesday's gone.
That smell is a good one to react to. It’s a true story about Gary Rossington the guitar player was playing the slide.
“Can You Smell That Smell?” is one of theirs that makes you listen to the words as well as the sound! Love it!!
The guitars have "signature sound" after you listen to them a few times you could recognize them like you would a singer. Certainly music causes strong sensory reaction in most people. It makes you feel emotionally overwhelmed sometimes. I think it's a good thing....feeling, I mean. Thanks for the reaction video.
I used to sing this to my son as a lullaby when he was a baby. He's 32 now and still my only son 💕 and this song reminds me of when he was little.
It makes everyone feel that way.
Real music, lyrics with a deep message. The way music was when I was gorowing up.
Classic Southern Rock and Roll will Never Die
Each new generation, upon hearing some songs that may be considered dated, are genuinely surprised to learn the richness, depth and raw talent from those who were of times past and what they have actually given to the world. Some of that sadness may come from an inner knowing that something has been lost. There is nothing new under the sun except for finding the treasures that have always been there for everyone to partake of. Great reaction.
This song hits your soul, no doubt.
When this song comes on it's like a nod from my son in heaven. Some of these lyrics are carved on his piece of granite.
It's people who don't get emotional when listening to music that I worry about.
YAY!!! You DID decide to do this one!! :) One of my favorite songs of all time!! SO SIMPLE, YET SO POIGNANT!! GREAT TUNE! Thanks for listening to this one!!
All the men must hear the lyrics of this song🤘
Yes, this is their sound. It's "southern rock". Up there with Molly Hatchet, ZZ Top, CCR and several others.
Chills and sad ,beautiful memories of my Mother.
This, of course, is a classic and amazing. The best cover of simple man by shinedown is also breath taking!!❤🎉
When they recorded it, the producer didn't like the song, the singer, Johnny got mad as hell brought him to his Rolls-Royce and told him to go back to New York and wait until they're finished ,if he would've listen to him we wouldn't have gotten one of the best songs ever
