    The graves are so neat and orderly. I love the mausoleum of the Prince and Princess of the Salteens, the church and the stone wall, so much work to construct them. That monument of the couple with their photos was beautiful and I love what their children wrote. Thank you for another spectacular vlog ❤.

    Thank you Sue, this is such an interesting grave yard with lots of history and stories. The church ruin is so nice. I didn't think it was possible to live to 140yrs, but that's what it looked like to me aswel. Very enjoyable thanks again 💙

    Beautiful kept old Cemetery and new of course The Church is still in amazing considering it’s age.None of the new buildings will survive this long..Interesting story about Prince Michael and his princess ,what a fairytale.And why not ..We always see some surprises like the couple who had been together for 70 years .Amazing as some people don’t even live that long sadly.And the old Headstone with the Grandfather who was 140..Makes you wonder if he was some miracle ,or maybe it was a bit of guesswork it seems rather old for those days.But you had to read it a few times lol!.An amazing adventure all around this time Sue.Thank you for taking us along ..Love n Light 🥰

    The parish church of St Mary's, Bannow, is all that remains of a once thriving medieval town. The fortified church was probably founded by monks from Canterbury in the latter part of the 12th century. In 1245 CE the church was under the Cistercians at Tintern Abbey and was still held by them at it's suppression in 1538 and according to records it was still impropriate to Tintern in 1615. The church is situated on a relatively flat headland at the mouth of Bannow Bay. Robert FitzStephen, the first Norman invader, landed at Bannow Bay in May 1169 CE.

    A beautiful place so neat and organised. The stone walls of the remains of the Church are a work of Art, each stone carefully placed by someone's hands and lasted this long. The graves you read out especially the couple with the pictures and poem from their children was so beautiful. Thank you for sharing 💕🇦🇺

    My Grandfathers hat badge is an Irish Harp. I have it here with his medals. He was a soldier with the London Irish Rifles in WWII, died from his wounds. It was lovely to see the harp in this one Sue. Such a beautiful place.

    Michael Neale was not a Royal Prince. He claimed that his Christian name was Prince Michael. However, it was rumoured that he changed his name, by deed poll, to Prince Michael. He changed his wife's name to Princess Anne. His son was called Prince. The mausoleum is, to me, as vulgar as Michael Neale snr. That Church is beautiful. Again, so much history in one place. I just love seeing the graveyard so well maintained.

    • @SerenitySueGraveyards
      @SerenitySueGraveyards  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes you're correct he changed his name by deed poll he even held a ceremony on the island, its a story I suppose, all that's on the island now are birds and wildlife 🤔❤️🇮🇪🍀

    Hey Sue, a great video of an awesome church n graveyard. Its interesting how theres a few more recent graves mixed in with those thatre very old. Youre right re the church bldg, you look at it n see how each stone was laid in place..impressive then and now! I looked real close at the gravestone of the 140 yr old grandfather, and it really does look like 140. Thats mind boggling to me too, even currently you just dont hear of that, id like to know the exact details there. Great work Sue! :)

      @@SerenitySueGraveyards On the one hand there wasnt any of advances in modern medicine or medication back then, but then on the other hand there wasnt any junk food either. Still hard to wrap my head around this. Just in general in any era, ive never heard of anyone getting up there to 140....ive recall 115 or thereabouts but thats it.
