I don't know who you are, but reading Sanderson has made you one of my favourite humans in the wold. LIFE BEFORE DEATH!!
Haha I love that! Being united by beloved books is the best!
I clicked this so fast 😂 yay!! You did it!! It just gets better in book 2!!
I’m so glad I finally read it! I can’t wait to read book 2!
I JUST read Way of Kings and it was soooooooo Good! The part 4 Dalinar and Kaladin arcs are SO amazing 👏
Yes, they were! Such great characters!
I've never read Arthurian legend so really appreciated your insight on that. Great vlog!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
I just finished this book, it was awesome.
Yes, definitely! It’s a new favorite for me!
Yay! And agree trusting Sanderson will make it all work is key. So so good! Thanks for sharing!
Having already loved Mistborn and seeing the details he brought together in that series, I am more than willing to trust him with Stormlight … although I don’t want to wait for the next 6 books 😂
@@beautifulminutiae yes I wanted to read them with the fandom so I am all caught up now but the downside to that as opposed to say reading wheel of time now is I worry I may not remember all the great details having to wait so long between books but it’s ok!
Those typos were corrected in reprints and the 10th anniversary edition also had another pass by the copy editor.
As to the maps end papers, Sanderson got Tor to agree to colored endpapers on the condition that they were the same across the 10 books. Hence why you don't understand them yet. However Sanderson was successful enough to change the endpapers for every book so look forward to much more art :)
Thanks for the insight! That explains why I didn’t get the maps at the end. I don’t think that my copy of Way of Kings is the first printing, but I’m glad to hear that they fixed the typos! Some of them were pretty blatant 😂
I'm around halfway through the book and loving it so much, no such thing as a Sanderson book! What a lovely video you put out, it was in my recs and you gained a new subscriber for your way of explaining your thoughts so well and your lovely voice alone! 🥰
Aw, thank you for your kind words! So happy to have you here 😊
This means you finished!!!! ❤️
I like being confused and wondering about things, I like searching for answers. I think that is why I jumped right into the next book, things weren't tied with a bow, and I wanted to know more. I was so invested in the characters (Adolin is a long 'a' at the beginning, and Jasnah is a 'y' sound instead of a 'j' - I discovered this after listening to Sanderson speak about them) and wanted to find out everything.
When I said it feels like it reads faster than a 1000 pages, I'm looking at my other 1000+ page reads and comparing. So Les Miserable, War&Peace, Gone with the Wind, Count of Monte Cristo...
I am so glad you liked it though. Relieved. I was hopeful, but you never know.
Christy told me after talking to her that Jasnah is a y sound. She knew from the audiobook. I question why he wouldn’t just spell it with a y, where there is no indication of pronunciation, but that’s okay 😂
You weren’t the only one who told me that it reads faster than 1000 pages 😂 I think I was expecting it to read as quickly as Mistborn and it definitely didn’t, but that’s only because it was so much more intricate! I absolutely loved it and am looking forward to book 2! Is that book your favorite in the series also? I’ve had so many people tell me it’s the best one, so I have very high expectations 😁
@@beautifulminutiae - I don't know if I can choose a favorite. I love Way because it introduced me, I loved Words for different reasons. I was so glad that Oath wasn't the end and Rhythm was so revealing. then there are the in-betweeners Edgedancer and Dawnshard. Just so much that is intricate and lovely about each one... I don't think I would like one, as much, without the others 🤗
@@novelideea I prefer my pronunciations of Adolin and Shallan, so I stick with those even after hearing Sanderson pronounce them. Same with Renarin, I think 🤣 and Jorgen in Skyward - sometimes Sanderson uses a hard j and sometimes a soft, so I call him both while I'm reading 😂😂
Yay! The Way of Kings is my favorite Sanderson novel. I've read it four times. I read it in 10 days the first time, then read Words of Radiance. Then reread them both within a couple of months. I honestly can't remember finding many typos, so now I'm curious to see if I do in my next read through.
I didn’t realize you’d read it so many times! I can see why you love it so much. I enjoyed it!
@@beautifulminutiae yeah, it's a bit of an obsession. I'm reading Rhythm of War for the second time now.
Claire in your first update. 🤣🤣
🦀🦀
I'm so excited you finished!! For the longest time I couldn't decide which book was my fav between WoK vs WoR but I finally settled on WoR.
Fyi.... before you read book 3, you need to get to Warbreaker (it's much much MUCH shorter). There is some crossover with Oathbringer.
Anytime Claire can do something goofy in the background, she jumps at the chance 😂
Thanks for the heads up with Warbreaker! I knew it was connected to Stormlight, but didn’t know I needed to read it before a certain book.
It's not a 100% necessity but it adds to the experience (at least for me) to find the crossovers/easter eggs.
I started with Way of Kings as my very first Sanderson. 😱 Listening to your thoughts as you read is making me want to reread these so bad!!
Sounds like you are better with high fantasy than me 😂 I think I would’ve been very overwhelmed. But Sanderson does do a great job of laying things out. It just took some time in Way of Kings.
@@beautifulminutiaeI think it was good timing for me to dive into Fantasy again. But his writing is very dense. And I still don't think I understand everything, but trying to figure out the puzzle is interesting. I definitely felt their length though. There is a LOT in every book.
Yes, it’s fun to see where he fits everything together! Glad I’m not the only one who felt the length 😜
