    John: Hey, guys. Does your truck seem like it's missing something? Well, we've got what it's missing. We're gonna show you how to get in the zone and get your truck lifted with Zone Lift Kit. Hi. I'm John with RealTruck.com, and today I'm gonna show you how to install the six and a-half inch Zone Lift Kit onto this 2014 Chevy Silverado.
    As you can see here, our Zone six and a half inch front and rear lift kit comes with everything you need to get your truck up into that lifted zone. So what you wanna do when you get your kit, lay out everything, and then inside your instruction sheet there's a parts list. I'd recommend that you go through. Check off all the parts on the parts list. Make sure you have everything before you start on the project, because everybody knows it's a really bad thing to get halfway done with a lift kit and be missing something important. So very important to do that, make sure everything's here. And the next step is to get this truck up in the air and start putting on this kit. So let's get the wheels off so we can get to the real heart of the lift kit.
    The next thing we're gonna do after we get the wheels off is we're gonna disconnect our brake line bracket from the differential right here. We got that loose. Let's unclip our ABS line from our frame rail and do our emergency brake bracket on the driver side. And we're also gonna remove this one up here. Let's take our shocks off. And hang on to the bolts, cause we'll need those to put the new shocks on. There's also one more at the top we have to take loose. Unfortunately that one doesn't have a nut on the backside. It's built right into the bracket. So we don't have to worry about hanging onto that.
    Once our shocks are off, then we're gonna pull our U-bolts off. Now, when you get to this point, it's very important that, if you're doing this up in the air, you have some kind of a jack like we have up underneath the differential here. I'm gonna take these off, because the only thing that we're gonna be reusing here is this bottom plate that goes up under here. The U-bolts and the nuts, you can do whatever you want with them. Throw them away. Throw them in a box. Keep them, whatever you wanna do. 866-554-0581 Free shipping for orders over $100!

    Hey bud, nice detailed video and I appreciate the tricks of the trade. I would hate to maintain the brakes or wheel studs on this truck with that razor sharp shroud cut you left though, a sanding wheel or a few passes with a file would be nice to anyone doing general maintenance. I also don't approve of the air impact on those tiny bolts used on the front axels, way to easy to strip them out with the amount of torque they can produce.

    Are brake upgrades 100% Needed.. On my old truck i had a 3" lift on it and it stopped fine. Im saving for a 03-05 Silverado and will probably be putting a 4"-6" lift on it with obviously bigger wheels/tires and offsets would i HAVE to upgrade my brakes i see some of the upgrades are $1,200. Is there any cheaper way of upgrading them

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  Před 9 lety

      TheFloridaBoy941 Short answer No. You do not have to upgrade your brakes. Longer answer. Your brakes and the ability of them to stop your vehicle is based on a vehicles ability to go from 60 Mph to 0 Mph in a set distance. The distance is based on the weight of the vehicle not the height. So obviously a GEO Metro with its tiny little pads and calipers is going to stop quicker and at a shorter distance then a fully loaded 80,000 lb tractor trailer. Most brake upgrades are done on vehicles that are going to be pulling heavy loads or are going to be racing where you are off and on the brakes alot, there is a reason for that upgrade to, but that's a topic for another discussion. Hope this helps.

  • @94meriks
    @94meriks Před 8 lety

    I thought you only use "picklework" on parts ment to be replaced because they mostly damage the rubber seal. Pretty obvious thats what happen, but you reinstalled it with damage rubber?

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  Před 8 lety

      +94meriks it's actually called a "picklefork" and you guys are putting way to much into the rubber "seal". It is not a seal at all. In actuality it is a rubber dust cover and in repair shops, yes even the dealerships, they actually cut those open to lube them on the type that do not have grease zerks. So relax guys, I know it's a Chevy (just kidding, sort of), but it's not going to full apart over that one dust cover.

    • @94meriks
      @94meriks Před 8 lety

      ***** I actually meant picklefork, I got lost in the translation :) If I drive with a damage dust cover like that one winter here in Sweden the joint would be full of salty water and the joint wouldn't last the summer.
      The joint will be worn out prematurely and the customer is the one to pay for it, I think it's kinda cavalier and how in earth will a joint stop jerking because you fill the dust seal with grease?

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  Před 8 lety

      +94meriks once it starts jerking it's typically too late and as far as as the salty water in Sweden, we have that here in the winter as well. The thing is that as long as you keep grease in the joint it "should" not allow that stuff to get in there to start with. Keep in mind that those dust covers are not air and water tight in the first place. I have been a mechanic for many years (33 to be exact) and there have been many times that a customer has come into the shop for an oil change and lube with a vehicle only a few years old and that cover in perfect shape. When I started to add grease to the joint through the zerk water started coming from under the cover. This is not totally uncommon hence the reason why the shops cut a small hole in the ones without zerks and add grease directly under the cover to keep the water from getting into the ball and socket of the joint. As far as your own vehicle goes, by all means if it makes you feel better replace the rubber cover, but since we don't work on customer vehicles, and this one belongs to us, we decided to leave it. When the joint eventually wears out, we'll put in a new one.

    Hey I'm wanting to get my truck lifted but I'm worried about the excess wear and tear it might have on my truck what kind of problems could/will come from getting it lifted?

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  Před 8 lety

      +Tyler Prince u-joints, balljoints, CV Axle Joints, control arm bushings just to name a few. Although it really depends on how high you lift it and whether or not you upgrade some of these components plus the size and weight of the bigger tires can play a part in this as well. On a personal note, I have lifted several of our trucks, with no major issues. The biggest issue is making sure the angles are done properly and upgrading some bushings. BTW it is well worth it.

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  Před 8 lety

      If you remove the bolt with a wrench the diff will wiggle down and out. I would not recommend trying to remove and reinstall the PS Motor in the vehicle. That is usually done with the rack and pinion entirely removed and on a bench.

    Do U know anything about tires? I m looking to get a lift for my 2wd 2015 GMC Sierra, I want a big and aggressive looking tire that drives smooth on the road and has good mileage? What tires should I get?

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  Před 8 lety

      +Jenymon Cyriac and therein lies your issue. The more aggressive the tire the more road noise, the more bounce at low speeds and the less wear mileage. The more aggressive tires still generally ride decent at highway speeds, but they just don't last very long. I would suggest visiting a few of your local tire shops, look at what they have, talk to the peeps there and then decide how to rubber up that truck.

    • @caseymatika1113
      @caseymatika1113 Před 8 lety

      Also I had a set of Toyo open country they are real popular and I ran them on a 06 z71 so a half ton like your truck and at about 45,000 I started deciding what I should do for the next set...my 2 cents

      Jose Castro not too much work just time consuming. Yes you would need to get that one piece welded, but there are alot of places that have mobile welding units that could drop by and weld that one piece right up for you. If you have any questions about this or any of the other 500000 plus accessories we sell feel free to contact our knowledgeable Customer Service folks at 877-216-5446

    This lift company should of atleast include new tie rod ends that are already made to fit this kit instead of cutting all your oem shit up.
