And Tuomas wrote this when he was 21 years old. Like how?!
Tuomas' talent has always baffled me.
I mean the guy goes to a Metallica concert, decides to start a band, and immediately is one of the greatest (metal)composers of our time.
This guy skipped a couple of seriously big steps here.
Yeah, it's crazy when you are free to pursue your passions in life. Our brains are aways trying to show us what we're good at through interests, but it takes a lot to chase them. I am glad Tuomas chased his and we have Nightwish.
@@jessicakoster2543 There is also one thing that always seems to go unremarked upon. I know English is widely spoken in Finalnd, but its still a second language. Tuomas wrote this in a second language at that age and he hasn't quit since. His poetry in a second language astounds me and it has done for well over 20 years and I can't see that level of awe drying up, ever. That level of mastery is astonishing, I mean, compare it to an average footballer with grew up with english and can't string a polysyllabic sentence together for goodness sake. The wrong people are elevated to demigod-hood, they really are. It beggars belief.

This whole band makes magic, and having the brilliance of Tuomas and the vocals of Floor, unmatchable magic.
Have we had Sahara ( live from Tampa) yet. Love it especially with Troy on E bow and some excellent bass work from Marco.
so glad someone did this song - it tends to get forgotten in the reaction world. i highly recommend sahara, live from tampa. it gets overlooked a lot sadly but it has wonderful floor/marko harmonies for chels and some dope bass for mat. as well as it just being a fantastic song. looking forward to the next one!

You can always tell when it's a song from the Sami era because the bass guitar is much more simplistic than what Marko plays. Here's it's an anchor, which is what the song needs, but that's really all it is. Marko's tone is what makes it stand out more than what's being played.
As you might have guessed from the classical sound, this is a Tarja song. Floor does a great job.

NOBODY is ready for it to end, Chels! It was off the setlist for so long because Anette didn't have the voice to do it justice. It needs someone classically trained.

Great reaction. Ten out of ten from me too 🙂 This song has special place on my heart, because it was the first song I ever really listened from NW, and I was sold in seconds. That was almost 23 years ago. Sure, I had probably heard something from Angels Fall First in radio or TV (because I live in Finland), but they never got my attention before this. I remember how I thought that this sounds so great already before Tarja started to sing, and that was the icing on the cake. I had never heard anything like that before. I have loved this band and Tarja ever since. Floor does amazing job and I really like that she honored the original version with her operatic vocals. Unfortunately there are no good live versions with Tarja and Nightwish, but I recommend that you check out the original album version and or Tarja's version with her own band from Luna Park 2011.
It is quite funny, that in 1996, before I even knew anything about Nightwish, I had same kind of dream to play some Neo-Classical(ish) Power Metal with female vocalist. We even talked about it with my brother while we were jamming...then I needed to go to army, and we never got back into this. I remember how this Stargazers kind of crushed my dream, because it was so perfect. There was no point for me to try to do anything similar, ever. I was still happy.

Great reaction. I looked at all the Nightwish reactions and could not find "The Greatest Show On Earth", which is also done live at Tampere. It is high on the list of the most epic and best from Nightwish. Please do a reaction video to it, but not the Wembley version. Stick to Tampere, it is much better at this venue and showcases all the band members.
When we hit 125 Patreon supporters we will react to that one. It is over 20 minutes so it's been a hard one to fit in as of yet.

Floor doing a Tarja song. I think she did really well, but I kinda wish she painted the song in her vocals.
She did it perfectly.
This is one of the few songs she did in the original style, probably because it's too high to do in the no-operatic way, or maybe they just (rightfully, IMO) thought this song should be done that way.
Most of the other songs from Tarja she does in her own style and some people complains about that, it's just impossible to please everyone but I think she did great here.
Bon Scot with AC/DC might be a good reaction? Or maybe live at river plate 2009

Just yesterday I found out Floor also has on youtube a video of her with the metrpole orchestra performing Morning Sky/Sound of the Wind from Final Fantasy Chronicles. I wonder if Tuomas was ever asked to make game music. Or any big movie projects. Like the music for the new series they're making about Lord of the Rings before Bilbo had the ring or something. Can we all spam the producer's mailbox with Tuomas recommandations. lol

The songs are good with Floor... but I think Oceanborn songs feel better with Tarja... they are all for opera style singing. Floor can sing opera, but Tarja is more specialized and more confortable.

I can understand Mat beeing upset about low coverage of Marco, but what makes me even more upset is the poor mix which doesn’t play audience participation at all. The Nightwish fans were clearly singing and you could hear nothing!
Couple of Tarja minions underhere claiming this is a Tarja song bla bla. Imagine the new bass player getting comments like "new bassplayer is good, but this is a Marko song". Or, "i love Kai Hahto", but this is a Jukka song".
Sorry to y'all, there are no Tarja or Marko or Kai or whoever songs, they are Nightwish songs! Do you want to hear the Tarja (or Marko) version, go somewhere else.
They are literally Tuomas' songs. Except for a couple that are actually Marko songs. Neither female singer composes for Nightwish.
Everyone is free to have a favourite version though, and be vocal about it
