Stargazers was the first Nightwish song I ever listened to, way back in 1999. It was great with Tarja back in the day, but it takes on a whole new dimension with Floor!
Notice how warm and clear Floor's voice are even when she doing soprano. Phenomenal singer

Nice you had Emppu in the end shot from the vid. Nice quote from Emppu: 'Every good songs starts with a guitar solo, and has at least 2 other guitar solo's." And that is exactly what this song was!
Hahaha yes, I rember that he said that in the making of efmb. Think it was somehow a joke but I am pretty sure he is not that into nightwish anymore. Tuomas said that he talked with Emppu after Marko left and Emppu said that’s it, we should stop here. Only the reason that Tuomas decided that he has more music to give thats the only reason why they don’t split up. Just sad to see so much talent thrown into the garbage by Tuomas. Emppu moreover was not that happy with the bands direction after the Wishmaster album when I rember it correctly from their biography. He had lots of solos until then and more influence on the songwriting. But I think expect from some challenging songs like this one he seems not that happy on stage anymore like on the early nightwish days.

This song is one of the clearest examples of a song very clearly written for Tarja. Which I’m sure is why it had been out of the play list for a while, because It needs that operatic voice type to sing it.

In the "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" documentary, Tuomas says, "Stargazers is another one I've wanted to play for a long time. It's real fun to play." It's also real fun to watch/listen to.

You picked up on what I believe is the main reason Empuu is so endearing - his smile! It's so nice to see some one genuinely enjoying their craft. The same goes for the whole band; they have such a feel good vibe, it's infectious.
2:42 This is like 17 years ago, I was home and by chance got to hear a small part of what I think was 'End of all hope' on the radio. So now I had to make absolutely sure the DJ said the name of the band after the song was done. They sometimes don't and it literally took me more than 10 years to find another song they didn't say the name of. But, luckily the DJ said the name of the band; Nightwish. So I knew I needed more of that so a day later I took the bus, went to the city and bought Oceanborn. The album that opens with Stargazers and it blew me away. I had to go back a couple of times to even understand what I was hearing and it was just everything and more I could have imagined. I think it took me about 20 minutes to finish the first song

Emppu always have to find a monitor when he's doing the solos. He have his guitar so low that when he's doing solos he have to have it on his knee.
You guys deserve those fireworks! LOL. Emmpu is always smiling when he plays guitar. He is also drinking beers while he plays guitars. Coincidence? ;-P.
Thank you for the reaction :) I come from a country where metal music isn't too popular, and none of my friends or family like the genre. A few Nightwish songs and a few songs from Floor Jansen do catch their attention, but as soon as the drums and electric guitars pick up, a part of their minds switch off. But at the very least, I've had various people admit that metal doesn't imply just smashing their instruments and faceplanting the keyboard till some noise comes out. Even in Netherlands, where floor comes from, Metal is ignored. Until she went onto Beste Zangers, people halfway across the globe knew way more about her than in her own country.
It has been interesting to follow Mike's journey into metal, and it took me back to the days of trying to convice friends to give my style of music a shot. Congratulations to Ginger on some metal sneaking into the playlist!

Ginger only missed it by 2 letters. We need to work hard to spread the word of this amazing band. Then maybe they can come to play the bigger venues in the USA. I watch all my CZcams videos on tv, and most of the time nightwish is on, full blast, I love this band so much, I don't like heavy metal, but nightwish is something else..🤟🇳🇱🇦🇺

So cool. This was the first Nightwish song I ever heard. It was the first track on the first album they ever released. I was lucky enough to find Oceanborn in the hard rock section of a record store in Las Vegas and decided to try them out. I'm sure the band feels as nostalgic playing this as I do listening to it. We've all come so far.

See you Lowell. You will love Nightwish. I seen them the last time the toured. It was in 2018 in Worcester on St Patrick’s Day. They do have a stripped down set but still amazing. Stargazers is a great song off on of my favorite album Oceanborn. Keep up the journey.

If you like the heavier stuff maybe Shudder Before the Beautiful from Wembley 2015 or Dark Chest of Wonders from Wacken 2013. Also Sleeping Sun or Dead Boys Poem for the softer side of Nightwish. Keep on rockin guys

The genre of metal is hands down the most diverse music genre out there. I always say there is at least one sub genre of metal for anyone regardless if they like metal or not. Sadly, it’s also of one the most misunderstood genres based on prejudice and negative stigmas. I love reaction channels bc I’m seeing people being more open minded and having positive experiences with metal.

A typically wonderful song...but much less complex musically than a lot of Nightwish songs. Which, I suspect, is why the band is having so much fun with it.
IF they are able to perform the concert in Lowell, MA next year, maybe I'll run into you. I'll be driving up from Georgia to attend that concert. The wife and I are going up for several weeks during leaf looking season and getting a Nightwish concert thrown in was just icing to the trip :)

@@MikeandGinger Sounds like a VERY good idea! Just make sure you turn down brightness in the recording, though, to create a darker environment, more mystical. It'll fit the composition beautifully that way. Just a little light on both your faces, but even then keep it a dim light :).

Love your channel always entertaining and like you have fallen in love with symphonic metal. Very jealousy of you with your tickets to see Nightwish as they have become my favourite group of all time, since hearing them about a year ago and that’s saying something as I am now nearly 70, so I have heard a few. Keep up the good work, I’ll be watching and listening. ❤️🤘🇦🇺

The stigma that was created in the 80s about metal really stopped many from being open to metal bands. Most have so much more depth in their music than people thought, and so many different types of metal to choose from.
True. But for Mike, it's always been about the sound. I think these bands have finally won him over because their sound is less "noisy" and because the singing has more operatic elements. He always liked a more sophisticated sound, and these acts definitely make that mark - G

Ah, yeah that one from Tampere... it's interesting because here Floor rarely goes into poppy or metally (😂) singing and stays in the realm of the classical for most of the song.
"Killer playlist" 😂🤣 yeah, I use primarily NWOBHM and great to silly power metal to *do* stuff, but this is among the additions.

Well Mike, you're not alone. Starblazers was my favorite anime show when I was a kid. Just curious if you have watched the live action movie that they made of Starblazers back in 2010? It wasn't titled Starblazers though. The movie was titled Space Battleship Yamato.

Earth in the vastness of the dark universe.
"Child of dew-spangled cobweb, Mother to the Moon"
The cobweb is our solar-system. Dewdrops = the planets. Mother to the Moon = Earth.
"Constellations beholders of the 3rd vagrant"
Star constellations. 3rd vagrant = 3rd planet from the Sun = Earth. The constellations are the audience to the play of life.
"Theater for the play of life"
Earth is where life unfolds.
"Tragedienne of heavens"
Tragedienne can also mean the writer of tragedies, and the Earth is full of tragedies, especially when we are talking Nightwish. So the tragedienne of heavens is also the Earth. Fits with the theater nicely
"Watching the eyes of the night"
Eyes of the night = stars. It can be both the Earth and/or the astronomers (stargazers) watching the stars. I believe it is both.
"Sailing the virgin oceans"
Earth moving in the universe. AND astronomers/navigators sailing the seas and navigating by the stars.

The Earth and the Moon moving. AND the people of Earth riding around the universe on the Earth.

Hydrogen is the basic material of the universe. AND hydrogen is part of the water molecule, the hydrogen lakes are thus also the oceans of earth. It is Earth and the sailors/navigators/astronomers floating.

Master prophecy = end of the Earth, or = end of the universe, or = the entire history of the universe. The Earth is the seer.

The nearest stars are part of our galaxy which is the cosmic caravan.

Univeral bond = gravity and the unity of the universe. Starborn = The Earth, born from the stars. Perhaps the starborn are also the stargazers.

The Earth is the son. The son is also a stargazer(an astronomer/astrologist/navigator and so on).

Almagest being a series of ancient books about the movement of celestial bodies. The Earth is following its patch. The stargazers are using/following the knowledge of Almagest.
"Discovering the origin of dreams"
Now moving on to dealing only with the stargazers. They discover the origin of dreams which I read as a metaphor for obtaining the knowledge of The Riddler, which is the knowledge of the answer to the universe and the meaning of life.
"Stargazers ride through the ancient realms"
Might be the notion of building spacecrafts capable of interstellar travel. Might be the Earth moving in space. Might be riding in the ancient knowledge. Might be all three!

Unfortunately, I don't think there will be any fireworks. Bands outside US are not allowed to bring them in. I wonder why they don't pre-programme them and let a local crew handle them?

Interestingly my favourite song with a male vocal ,for decades, was Stargazer ( Ronnie James Dio singer for Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow), Now my fav band is unquestionably Nightwish with my favourite singer ( no rival) is Floor. Even more coincidentially the very first vid I saw of Nightwish was on the RONNIE JAMES DIO stage. Wierd huh!
A very "enjoyable" version of an old school NW song.
Completely rearranged to suit Floor's vocals and dropped, at least, an octave so that she could be in her comfort zone.
Yesterday I was watching a reaction video of Tarja singing this song on her "Luna Park Ride" live show in Buenos Aires and this suggestion came from CZcams.
To me, as an old school NW fan, who always loved their symphonic power metal era, this version is kind of disappointing.
The new arrangement "got rid" of those distorted guitar riffs that were so... Nightwish... And even the keyboards...
Like Floor said in the introduction, "after ten years", Tarja was singing it the way it was supposed to sound in her solo career, while Nightwish was trying desperately to cover their own song.

Some songs made for singers that sing it perfect, this one as well as some others made for Tarja and she is the only one who sing them perfect.
I like Floor, but she should sing those songs that she can do good and there's a lot of them(not this one).

You NEED TO HEAR TARJAS VERSION EVEN MORE!!!! Tarja does a MUCH MORE POWERFUL VERSION THAN what Floor does!!!!😀👍👍👍👍
