Yes, the atmosphere was "unbelievable" because the British crowd was uncharacteristically rude during the match. They were making calls during the points and booing a former champion. I understand getting behind a hometown favorite, but that was a bit much. I thought Wimbledon was synonymous with class.

***** yeah, cause she is responsible for the behavior of other adults. No.

***** Like when Murray curses and talks to himself for an entire match... Yelling at his box and melting down emotionally. The crowd was just in bad form. That is it. There is a clear double standard when it comes to other players and Serena. You are entitled to hate her. But at the end of the day it is her dominance that annoys certain tennis fans the most. I have watched Murray take some tough loses on center court. I have never seen the crowd applaud errors and try to distract his opponent.

***** yh but u dont boo because she tells the line judge they were yellin through points and cheering her double fault. It felt more like we want serena to lose rather than we want Heather to win. Am German by the way and i watched with my friends and it felt like something a french crouwd would do. Not very classy. Oh and about the race thing , u will have to be delusional if u think the William sisters have been treated equally to everyone else during their careers. A mere Google research will educate u a little bit on that issue.

tomboy287 I totally agree. I have seen a French crowd turn on a player for challenging a call before. Wimbledon prides itself on prestige, elegance, and class. That is not what I saw on display. If people believe that it isn't about race I invite them to read the comment section on any article about Serena. Venus gets a pass because she is not as dominate as she once was. The racism is present and clear.

MIchelle4reel I agree with all of you, Serena does pull the, I'm Serena Williams card too often, acting out weird stunts that throw opponents off their momentum, that said, I think she did Heather a lifetime favour by not decimating her straight off, and also by not losing and handing the baton over to her older sister to finish the job, it's a good result in my eyes, Heather got to taste what she needs to do, Just as Nadal, McEnroe etc, all had to do. Crowd wise, yep, worst ever this year, the French Open was watched more in the UK in 2015, this may have influenced people calling out past shush time, plus you have those Aussie fanatics who crossed over that line many times and may also have influenced people calling out, they are likeable and annoying at the same time, so difficult to blame/judge them, but I believed they may have lowered the tone by upping their volume, just my thoughts. Tennis has been ace this year!
