Serena and Venus are really beyond average. This new generation has a lot to learn from them specially Serena. No matter the situation, she always keeps putting herself in the position and manages to be on the top of her game.
She's phenomenal, a legend.

The was a 25 stroke point that I wish was included in this montage. Both Venus and Lindsay were wacking the ball so hard and cleanly. Venus won the point, but it was such a great rally.
It was good but she has to fight for that title, 2007 was my favorite she literally dominated no one was coming close to even stopping her for that one.
This is why ppl want the AMAZING Williams Sisters (especially Serena) to retire and stop suiting up to play TENNIS. Lol. People don't appreciate the fact that because of these ladies Women's TENNIS will NEVER be the same.
IKR They will retire 😔 when they've given it everything they have, leaving it all on the court with no regrets. Looking back years from now and say "Yeah, We Did That"!!. 😃

Could have just watch the '05 championship match, Venus vs Lindsey Davenport. To me, hands down the most epic woman's match ever. No matter how many times I've watch it so many times, but each time is just as exciting as the last.
On any given day, Davenport could have won that match. But on that day, Venus was not having any of it. She was fantastic.

The first point is 2 times I can remember watching Vika watching Serena thinking she wouldn't get to the ball and Serena fooled her. It happened at the 2012 WTA Finals too.

I love these Williams sisters....I've been watching them since they entered the tennis scene with those famous hair beads. I hope to see them some day live and in person. Maybe next year for the Miami Open...fingers crossed!

Thought the 4 best were Venus' doubles one (why aren't there more doubles examples- both are amazing when together in doubles at Wi,bled!!!?) and Serena's vs Azarenka and Venus' 2 points vs. Davenport.

So many points missing, particularly from the matches they played each other. Their tiebreak in the 2009 final featured some supreme shotmaking from Serena and also one of Serena's passing shots against Elena in 2009 late in the 3rd set is missing.
Missing Venus’ clutch volley that turned the match around from 2008 too.

I know the best match they ever played against each other.
People like to claim that the Williams sisters are all power but the truth is that they're champions because they pushed everything to the limits. Athleticism, serving, returning, power, everything. Serena at her best can just about hit any shot as good as anybody else on tour.

What’s funny, to me, is Serena has Wimbledon and the US Open mixed doubles slams (no FO or AO), while Venus has the Australian Open and French Open mixed doubles slams (no Wimbledon or Us Open). Venus beat Serena to win the French Open mixed doubles too lol. In 1998, I wanna say.

While I do think they both changed the game, I think Serena changed it more. Why? Because Venus was an anomaly. NO player before, during, or after has been able to do the things that Venus did. NO player over 6 ft had speed like Venus (they have always had power, but they were slow). Venus is the fastest player over 6ft there ever was in the women’s game. That running BACKWARDS forehand winner she hit against Davenport in 2005? What other player has hit that same shot? No one. Rick Macci said that her backhand down the line is the greatest shot in tennis. While that is debateable, NO one has hit it as well as her. Even though the sisters play very similarly, Venus has certain attributes and parts to her game that no other player has ever emulated or been able to since then. Yes, Serena changed the game, and there are countless players who are very similar to her. But there will never be a player like Venus. It’s a shame her body and her mental stopped her from winning as many slams as she should have.
The game would look the same today if the Williams sisters had never existed.
So they changed nothing. Doesn’t mean they weren‘t great players.
@@carrerau7138 No, they definitely changed certain things. The open stance backhand and having power + speed is what they brought to the women’s game. Before Venus, everyone was being taught to hit a closed stance backhand.

@@carrerau7138 I didn’t say everyone didn’t hit with a closed stance. I said people were taught to. Yes, Seles is a fave of mine. Two hander off of both wings. Could have won so many more slams if not for Gunther stabbing her. Sanchez Vicario is ok.

These are hardly the best shots - most of these are just short rallies with nothing special. In the match against Hingis in 2000 and 2008 final alone there are more and better hot shots.
