Isn't the objective of a dark and stormy to have the rum floating on top of the ginger beer. I thought the dark and stormy got its name because the black rum floats on top like a storm cloud.
Depends on where you get your recipe. You will eventually want to mix it in before you drink it.
Dark and stormy name just came from the traditional rum (goslings) used for it being from Bermuda some clever people started floating the rum to look like a storm after the cocktail was created. Either way always use lime juice unless you're ginger beer has little to know sugar. Even then adding demarara syrup and lime juice brings in depth to the drink.

Which rum is dyed for I want to avoid this. Seems shady to dye something like rum or cigars for nothing but the appearance
Corn and Oil is stirred cocktail without lime. You need już one wheel of lime to garnish. No bitters
why would you garnish a cocktail with a wheel of lime when there is no lime involved ? or is there a hint in falernum?
