The joy on that fighter's face as he gets the key to the puzzle is immense - he's been trying to figure it out, then coach just drops the knowledge. AWesome stuff.
bro you should see the joy in my face 2 years later
Look what Trevor Wittman has done for Kamaru Usman and Rose Namajunas.
Trainer of Champions!!
Don't forget the absolute monster that is Justin Gaethje
@@ziggy6060 Mos def!
Gaethje severely damaged the former LW interim Champion Tony Ferguson. Was excruciating to watch.
@@sarojaband4664 Tony was never the same after that beating.
@@madgavin7568 😭😓
@Colin McLeod I think you're underestimating how important a good coach is for a fighter
Wow that was very good information on a seemingly basic subject. It makes so much sense. Imagine being submerged in this type of instruction on a day to day basis, no wonder their camps are so good.
I dont think most realize how skilled fighters really are. Obviously we know they're good 😂 but the iceberg goes down deep
I could watch Wittman teach all day
When Whitman says "go back to rear foot off your jab," he is referring to returning to the defensive stance or repositioning yourself after throwing a jab. This movement helps you maintain balance and readiness for any potential counterattacks.
Additionally, he also teaches how to throw a jab by shifting your weight from rear foot to lead foot for "snapping jab" and "entering the pocket." This suggests that the jab can be used both defensively and offensively.
When he advises attacking with a jab when your opponent is about to shift their weight to their rear foot, it's likely because they are less mobile and not as quick to respond during that transition. Attacking at that specific timing can catch them off guard and make it more challenging for them to counter effectively.

Yes bruv, what a tease, Been waiting since yesterday for that
a little underwhelming
Yep, premiere teased for 2 minutes of video.
Buy his video series it's worth it!
@@alilalji7575 From where?
Scheduling premiers for two minute videos now haha
Full reptile going full GOAT these days 🔥
I met Trevor 21 years ago when his gym was called T's KO. Great guy never would have thought he would be training mixed martial artist.
Can’t wait for this one! 🙏👏🔥☝️
So excited. Thank you Raptors!!
This should be amazing. Two genuine professors of the game
I like how this fighter is tuned in to the coach. In the end that's what martial arts are about, being humble enough to open your ears. Respect.
This is sooo interesting! Can't wait
That is literally the same logic behind timing a takedown. What a good way to communicate the timing to wrestlers. This is why he is one of the best huh?
This is 2:41 of a real combat genius. He is excites to just talk striking and the joy you see in him explaining there. Love it. Great work Full Reptile crew. 👏
He teaches so well, Everything makes sense!
good to see this guy being honest. it looks simple and he says "I cant figure it out" and then the realization on how to do it.
This kid is so likeable, honest and thankfull, thats great.
This is good shit. I set the reminder
Can't wait for the full episode

C'était vraiment très intéressant 👍
I'm gonna watch this till I die! that's brilliant!
This video is gold
Beast of a trainer
I actually understood this and learned something, thanks!
What did he mean? I didnt understand what he meant, was he sayinv jab when the front foot is not touching the ground?
High Level Stuff
Best coach Ever Trevor is a Wizard 🧙♂️ coach of the year
Footwork skills!
This is gold
Is there some long form content coming soon? Love those the most, keep up the great work!
I just found the answer to my own question, thanks fellas
This is a very well-known trick it works with flying needs to if you can pressure someone backwards and make them step on the back foot you can basically launch a knee at a standing still object
Far as I can understand you attack when they’re going (!)so just before they’re grounded!) to the front foot when you’re drawing them in and when they’re going(!) to the back foot when you’re pressuring your opponent. Makes sense if you think about it. Greetings from Holland, kickboxing capital of the world!
Amazing! But honestly I would have loved to see the feet and hey they step in this video.
Thanks so much anyways! 💯💪🏼
Free info.... I’ll take it and cash it in on sparring day.
love trevor the best you are champ couse ur jab !
Can't wait
I call it 'hitting on the half-beat'. I was never good at it with jabs but was with kicks and lateral movement. Same principles apply...it's hard to change direction mid-step. ;)
A question : you look the feet o the body moviment?
Just post it when it comes out. We don't need promo, the ones that know will watch
Top 3 coaches in the game, arguably the best
Did I wait like a whole day to watch a 2 minute video? Yes, yes I did...
This is so cool.
Wittman is legitimately brilliant.
wittman is amazing
The subtleties make all the difference.
Used to train and hang out with the fighter. Cool shit.
Fucking hell. This is gold.
It's all in timing...on the off beat.
Trevor’s so damn good
wittman is a striking genius.
more of this ;-)
I can watch Trevor and Giff train fighters all day.
Learning the key to doing this and actually doing it in a fight are 2 different things. However once you do it in a real fight you will have a deeper understanding of the game.
Best boxing coach in the UFC!
I think Trevor Wittman and Rafael Cordero are currently the best MMA coach out there, at least in this period.
Thanks! Now i gotta go talk my girl into drilling l this shit with me for the next 3 weeks until I get it right.
Usman perfected this !

Anyone else notice the Genki Sudo,” We Are All One,” flag on the cage?

How do I find more information like this? super interesting but hard to find
More Trevor Whitman
Jesus Trevor Wittman is a master.
Interesting
Its crazy how close this is to how gaethje moves
I was thinking the same
I’d pay a fortune for Whitman to train me. The dude is a badass.
Justin "I don't know what bjj is " Gaethje is currently the best striker at 155 imo.
Ehhhh. There’s still Dustin
@@itsyourboy7150 I think Gaethje has now surpassed Dustin, striking-wise. But I think Dustin wins it even more easily by mixing it up if they fought again.
@@somdutroy ehh I wouldn’t say he’s surpassed him. Dustin is easily the best striker in the division. Just his IQ, his defense, and the way he mixes things up. I think Conor is a close second with Gaethje right behind him. But the amount of just pure power Justin carries in his hands are pure deadly. We’d have to see Dustin vs Justin 2 to see but I really do believe Dustin is the best striker in that division right now. It’s just beautiful to watch
Trevor Witnan... doesn't seek the limelight... just trains champions
What are you on about? The guy in this video is not a champ and he trained Gaethje and Rose before they were a champion.
@@FelixIakhos just acknowledging the guy for training champs... Rose and now Usman... and not seeking attention
I’m kinda confused do you attack once they land or midway their step?
if you've ever studied the russian step with jab and right hand in boxing its the same principle
trevor is a fucking legend
I’ve watched this a few times, I can tell it’s high quality stuff, which probably explains why I’m struggling with it a little 😂
Is he saying, lead with your rear foot when you jab, almost spring forward?
As oppose to stepping forward with your lead leg?
And secondly, in regards to the opponents movement.
Catch them with that jab as they are moving back, and catch them with the power hand when the step forward?
Any tips appreciated 🙌
Great video, smashing it as always.
👍
Im also struggling with it, but looks like a gem of info. FYI, jab is all about the back foot - try it - put your weight on front foot and jab = no power. Put weight on back foot, sit into it a little, now jab and transfer weight forward = power. Punching is always about weight transfer, so a forward punch should have weight going from back to front for max power (you don't always have to do that, but for power) Realising that, and learning where that balance on the rear foot really helped me get a snapping jab, whereas before it always felt weak. Not sure what this footwork thing here is, but I think he is saying time the jab when you see the weight of opponent go on his back foot maybe??!? Not sure, need him to explain this to the camera so we can get it!!
@@sgu00dir thanks for the response brother!
And yes your right, I was messing around in front of the mirror after reading this last night, for sure feels better that way!
Thanks for the info, have a good day my mate 🙌
@@mallorcahermano1477 Cool!!! You know who does this incredibly well - Mayweather (of course :)). You can really get the feel of this by getting in that Philly shell type position so that you have the defensive stance like Mayweather, and can really feel that weight in the back foot, then its just about timing the transfer of weight from back foot, through body and into jab as it connects!! Thats the bit I don't have yet though :)
This video is about countering, more specifically about timing pertaining to the best counter opportunities. It has nothing to do with which of your own leg works in co-ordination to which strike you throw (The person who responded below telling you jab with your rear foot). The misunderstanding is because he switches roles with this fighter seamlessly during the explanation which makes it hard to follow. For better reference watch Dynamic Striking with him and Gaejthe or watch the entire full reptile video from which this is clipped. I will try to explain as succinctly as possible but watching the above two videos should make it clear.
While your opponent is moving around, you are hunting or are hunted ( with you drawing them in). In mode 1. You being the hunter, you push them backward with your jab (safe/non-committed). You time their rear foot, catching them right before they set into stance preventing them being able to effectively counter. In mode 2. You draw them in with them hunting you. You time the front foot, just a second before it sets them into stance and hit them with a power cross.
Again, you are not trying to get them once the foot is planted but the second just before the foot is planted. i.e: as the weight is about to shift onto the foot.
I think either before or after this segment he talks about anchor and how being caught out of position (you hitting them just as the stance is going to be achieved) causes the leg on which the weight is present to be an anchor facilitating the ease of the knock out because the anchor holds them in place but being out of stance keeps the head unsupported allowing the head to be loosely tethered enough to be hit effectively.
IMPORTANCE OF STANCE: Get into stance and iron guard(gloved hands touching your chin). Ask a friend to throw a power strike on the gloves. Now from stance, arc your back all the way back (think Adesanya against Whitaker) and ask your friend to repeat. Again from stance lean your head all the forward such that it overhangs your lead leg knee and ask them to throw a power hook. You will rapidly understand the importance of stance and quickly understand this video......also you will never forget it. :P
@@elijahantony4300 great explanation!
It's like when a sniper pulls the trigger in between heartbeats.
If there is one man you would like to learn the jab from .. well, thats him.
it's the half beat thing luke tomas always talks about
Do I go train with Trevor Wittman or Joshua Fabia, I just can't decide...
Can some
one plzz example
Wittman is the fucking man
so counter as soon as their foot lands or right before?
The coach of the highlight, Usman, thug rose all champions

where is the full movie gonna be shown? on this channel?

Trevor ‘the wizard’ wittman
Can somebody explain to me what he is teaching? Is it to attack when the opponents weight I's on the back foot?
