    Hey Sifu Adam Willis. What do you think about the angle of the forearm being steeper? I think for me when I have more of a flat tan it’s not really effective. Cheers

    • @sifuadamwilliss
      @sifuadamwilliss  Před 2 lety +1

      Both a flat/level forearm and a angled up forearm can work. Depends on height of you vs your opponent and where your going to next. However, I teach a flat/level tan in SNT. It would take too much time to describe in writing, but basically as you advance, you’ll find more and more “make sense” reasons to practice a flat/level tan.

    Can a ton Sao be used to deflect a straight lead punch while stepping to the outside of the punch and simultaneously attack the opponent from the blind side? Of his lead elbow?

    • @jestfullgremblim8002
      @jestfullgremblim8002 Před 2 měsíci

      Yes it can (it's even done in martial arts like boxing!) But the punch either needs to be telegraphed or you need to predict your opponent to use the move in that way.
      This is not so hard for boxers and other martial artists because they spar a lot and develop a sense for when the opponent will attack, but this is sadly not true for most Wing Chun practitioners

    What type of punch does tan Sao defend against a straight punch, hook, or wide haymaker?
