It's so interesting to see that classical musician who knows a lot about music structure and theories where not surprised by the sudden change of one genre to another compare to the average listeners/reactors.
I think at this point Umu has exposed them to so much unconventional and crazy structures/chords/changes in kpop that they're less surprised by it.

I can say that music of the old had more dynamic than of today though. That is... The structure isn't really that predictable compared to now. Pretty sure as classical musicians, they're well-versed with those.

Classical music can have vastly different movements within one piece music. "Sudden changes" is not a new thing, nor is it really unique to kpop.

Itzys concept isnt fully Girl Crush... Its described as a Teen Crush so its more of a lighter version of Girl Crush so thats why it has that pop mixed into it

I have literally tried this song sooooo many times, but I just can't. I really wanted them to do well, but they just didn't. I cringe so much throughout the song and choreography.
I liked this song from first listen. I wasn't confused or "thrown" by it, I absolutely love having something that breaks up the monotony of more formulaic pop. Not that I dislike that formula, it's fantastic, please continue. But something fresh is always welcome. I'm just so glad the song is doing well.
I always appreciate songs breaking from boring structure and monotony, but this just felt like it had no direction to me. A little too much trying to be different. Too forced.

People say that they hate dalla dalla because it kinda sounds messy but i love how actual music lovers and musicians appreciate it for being very unique and meaning-powerful. This is what ITZY wants to portray in their mv and song, to be different because they are themselves and no one can change it

Sandra Hansson Umu usually screens songs with Kevin and they decide if it’s musically interesting enough for the classical musicians to react to. In the case of Noir, if it’s in the “not reacting to” playlist then it just wasn’t musically interesting enough

Robbie Gabito I feel like for this channel specifically, not really? I really like Kill This Love, but structurally it’s *super* similar to DDDD, so they’d probably end up focusing on that even though the instrumentations are so different
They don’t really follow what’s new as in immediate reacting. They are following a list that they have. Some might be songs released weeks, months or years ago or can be mixed with new releases

lol Elizabeth perfectly explaining why I like this song so much bc I LOOOOVE Ives and all the other weird shit 20th century composers got up to in the first half of the century, and collage was definitely a really cool style. TBH I'm just happy any time someone decides to break musical conventions (edit: this is also why I love songs like Block B's Jackpot & SNSD's I Got a Boy lol)

I'm so happy the Charles Ives link was mentioned, because it is really true, the genre mixing and the way he challenged the listener is something that can be compared to something like this. And yeah, if he could do it in his music, why can't they?
Itzy established a new kpop formula lmao. Its generic kpop but its Itzy's kpop a little bit messy but so coherent. When dalla dalla released alot of girl groups got inspiration from itzy
My opinion of this song hasn't changed. I wish, so badly, that the whole song kept the 'different' vibe of the intro and the verses. But instead, the chorus just goes to the most generic JYP girlgroup chorus, and is totally not 'different' or aligned to their concept at all. JYP could have kept going for that different sound and remaining faithful to the concept, but instead he went down the safe route. It's by no means a bad song and I do like it, but I just wish it really had kept faithful to its conceptual roots and the sound that was set out in the intro/verse.
Oliver Hughes i concur. I do think the chorus is catchy but I can’t help but imagine how a more assertive chorus could have elevated the song. I would also scratch out the entire Keep Your Head Up chanting section altogether. The instrumental in that section is nice but I’ve always found cheerleading chants very abrasive in pop songs.
Most "girlcrush" song are just verses heavy plus empty chorus am glad there was a actually chorus. Two month in this song still slap cause of this.
@@t1geridingh0rse1 point being, the chorus could have been creative and interesting and aligned to the concept rather than just a bog-standard chorus. The verses, for instance, and the rap break, wouldn't fit Twice at all, but the chorus could be sung by Twice and no one would be able to tell the difference. That goes against the fundamental point of the group itself - to be 'different'.
@@riverd5698 Yeah, and there were even hints as to how the chorus could have been produced differently in the break and the bridge. I agree on the chant as well; I honestly think the product placement came first and JYP inserted that chant as the way to get the Kia sponsorship into the video. I don't think it was in the demo of the song, which is why it almost feels like a second bridge right after the first one.
BloodLine Vuong Point being, is the chorus in dalla dalla actually that dalla dalla? It doesn’t really set them apart from any of their contemporaries. However, I do like the debut and I’m definitely looking forward to what they come up with next. :)
Its hard to get the whole reacttothek team to do a reaction video so ITZY stans really really appreciate that. Dalla Dalla drawn various opinion from the public and this video just slaps people to learn more about music than focusing on just the visual concept because this is mainly the reason why they dont like the song saying they thought it would be a badass but turn out a cutesy one lol

I have NOTHING against certain groups. I’m choosing songs to react to based on their musical content, not who the artist is. So if we haven’t reacted to a group yet, IT’S NOTHING AGAINST THEM OR THEIR MUSIC. Plenty of groups are extremely popular and have put out /great/ hits. But oftentimes, huge hits aren’t “musically interesting” since they appeal to mass audiences.
I’m striving to show fresh musical content to the reactors and hopefully have them surprised or blown away by it. I understand that most of our channel followers know nothing about classical music/music theory, and I was once like that too. I thought every song I listened to was the best thing in the world. I can understand your frustration when I say we won’t react to something.

edit: it not being musically interesting doesn't neccessarily mean it's a bad song. it's just that there aren't much intriguing/complex happenings to comment about from a perspective of someone who is/has studied/studying music theory
