I love how they appreciate the uniqueness of the drop in "Hate". Most people were unsatisfied, but they liked how different it was. They reacted similarly to how I did 😊💕

It's ironic they seemed to all like/appreciate Hate more, when a big reason why they broke up was because Hate couldn't match Crazy's success. I always thought Hate was underrated........it was a brilliant piece of work, and while I disagree with their opinions on Crazy(that song is dope af and I'll listen to it any fucking where, any fucking time!), I love how that one duo acknowledged the awesomeness of Hate!

They may have won more shows with Crazy but they were still trending downwards. If you look at their sales, Crazy was still a good ways from there best selling albums and was part of an overall sales decline. The fact that Hate flopped was just the final nail in the coffin. For Cube, it made much more business sense to try investing in a new group and keeping Hyuna on board than trying to renegotiate with what was on paper, a past the prime group. There is a reason almost every KPOP group, especially GG, tend to break up after the contract expiration.
Back then most people criticized Hate for sounding similar to Crazy. I really liked Hate when it came out and would jam to it almost everyday but I do remember K-netizen was not having it.

My favourite thing is when collectively the whole squad gets so hype and into the music. It's not often that everyone will all like a song/type of music and tbh I didn't expect y'all to love 4Minute as much as you did. I've been waiting for this reaction for MONTHS and so into the fact that everyone was so into it. That is good but it sucks that women are ALWAYS judged by how sexual they are. These kids either like of hate girl groups and girl songs exclusively on their own personal feelings on if a group is too sexy or not too sexy or not sexy enough or not the correct type of sexy. No mention of dancing. No mention of the rapping. When asked about the singing the response was either idk good? or wasn't really listening lol. It's just sad imho

I will be forever bitter that 4MINUTE's disbandment relied on Hate's success in Korea since Koreans don't seem to like strong girl crush concepts unless there's a hint of cuteness to it. -.-
Also, I love the fact that all of you appreciated the beat drop in Hate. There was such a strong hate/love relationship for not only the fandom, but everyone else who listened to it.
The phrygian lick in the chorus of Hate (and also boombayah) is in the mode known as phrygian dominant. It's actually the mixture of what both Yunyi and Kevin say in the video: It's the ionian mode (natural minor scale) with a flat II and a raised/major III. A lot of eastern music is based on this mode, as well as some spanish flamenco. For some examples, you can check Lecuona's classical guitar standard Malagueña, Dick Dale's turn on Misirlou, some of the soloing in Megadeth's Holy Wars and, in K-POP, I think most of the songs with a heavier eastern feel are based on phryigian dominant rather than standard phryigian, such as, again, Boombayah, 2ne1's I am the best, Yezi's Anck-su-namun, and so forth.

No Jam Bros got no Jams CLC, with HyunA's help, are really doing 4Minute's concept justice. However, I can't claim the same for BLACKPINK - they aren't even trying to do it after all. The raw energy and charisma of 2NE1 is too hard to recreate

Two songs really captured me and introduced me to Kpop. BTS's Dope and 4Minute's Hate, but Hate was the first to get me to listen to a kpop song repetitively. I mean South Korea blasted 4Minutes music over the border to North Korea. 4Minute is iconic! 🙌🏽

CUBE stan no SK is pretty used to NK's hostile behavior (like decades worth of threats) plus at the time I think SK and NK have a type of "keep the peace" type of treaty, I think they still do. Where they agree not to attack one another or risk full fledge counterattacks.
SK is at the greater threat to NK than the US but NK knows if they attack SK the US will come to their aide because of ally agreements.
