We’ve written many a song about our hometown of Sydney, and ‘A Fistful O’ Roses’ is yet another, though this one was created beneath a very dark cloud & a sorely difficult time for our beloved city.
An agenda of sweeping law reforms and increasingly heavy tactics by our state government have crushed the city’s nightlife, the livelihood, and in many cases even the lives of many of its inhabitants. Iconic pubs, bars & restaurants are forced to close their doors, elderly residents are driven from their homes and Sydney is growing more desperate & hostile with every passing day.
This is a city under siege by those who rule her, set to become a playground for the elite, while the people who made it the treasure it was are squeezed out to wherever they hell they may venture.
We performed the video for the song as a macabre ‘dry wake’, set among the decay, in a derelict pub, one of many to fall victim to the states new order. Historic footage flits across the screen like memories of a life flashing before one’s eyes. ‘A Fistful O’ Roses’ is one last great send-off for the old girl, but make no mistake..
..this is a band falling very much out of love with its muse.

These guys are the kindest and most approachable people ever! Saw them in Serbia, the singer shook hands with people and let the boys from the audience sing. One of the best nights ever, thank you!

Man first Anthony Matters passing away 2019 and now Frankie the lead singer also walks a different part probably with his real life struggles. I miss the good early 2010´s with the Music of this fellas. Rest in Peace Anthony man really and good Luck to Frankie. Hopefully he will redeam himself.

@@dickflinghammer58 Its not 1 to 19million, the lethality ranges from 0,5 to 3,5% (based on the medical conditions in your country). Search for Italy and look for their death toll. It surpassed 68.000 deaths / 1.938.083 infected (Thats a lethality of 3,5% or in your words 7 in 200 chance). I do understand your worries, but trust more into your people. They will not accept to live like this forever.
My brother sent me this band today. Now I am drinking with my friend Paddy power in the west of Ireland and I am grateful for his. Love you my dear brother and I hope to see you soon. I take you to my favorite beach in ireland to drink Irish whiskey and the rumjacks at night.
A buddy listened to social d every day when we got off work. We would start playing pool and he would yell "Mike Ness." I was in Northern Alaska, isolated at a Loran Station in Port Clarence. 16 years ago and still one of my favorite memories.

I just heard this band last week and now I’m obsessed with them.
It's just a shame they had to change the singer. The new one is great still, but the sound of the band has majorly shifted. Still good, but different.

As a Sydney boy I recognise all the pubs in this video. The Hopetoun, The Landsdowne, The Imperial. All inner city Sydney pubs with a great live music culture. All gone now, sadly. What a time it was, and we didn't think it would end.

I'm singing this for the new years party we throw annually in my family. Our small country of Slovenia has been hit very hard due to covid. And the rules are becoming insanity. Even protests now result on violence. People are stressed out and becoming like deranged animals. The rules set upon us have been driving us mad.
